    Geoff said it was one of his most difficult songs because of the vocal acrobatics. Geoff shows us his remarkable acting talent . The original singer/actor doesn't show the emotion in his voice & can't act. The same goes for all the other cover songs. Geoff really knows how to reach deep down into your soul.

    The way he can project, how long he can sustain those lows, and how he's able to clearly enunciate the lyrics are something that never ceases to amaze me.

      May I humbly suggest that you check out Tim Foust and his performance of Will you still love me Tomorrow/Stay, there aren’t a lot of low notes, surprising because he’s a bass (who taught Geoff some of the techniques he uses to achieve his low notes) but the range on the man is unfair

      @@RemWinchesterFor me I would add Marwan Ayman from The Bass Gang. They’re all good, but there’s something about the quality of his voice that I really enjoy and he has the widest range. Watch one of his buildups sometime on shorts. He’ll do the tenor to the baritone, bass and all the beatboxing and then puts it all together at the end. They’re short but they are amazing.

    Loved your reaction to this. This song really is a good showcase for Geoff’s vocal agility. A little behind the scenes tidbit, Geoff will normally split up his recording day, singing his lower parts first thing in the morning and then record any higher parts later in the day. For this song Geoff actually made it harder on himself and recorded it sequentially, except for the “scream like I can” part for the last part of this recording because he knew his voice would be done for the day after that.

    This is such a heartbreakingly lament. Geoff knows how to do this in SPADES! Don't forget to watch his outro. During the Patreon list he's doing the piano during the snowstorm. He and Kathy raided their yard and house for all the props. Kathy shows how Zero comes to life in front of the green screen. See Geoff get some of the makeup done from his hands to face.

    If you haven't, you should check out Geoff Castellucci's "Tea Time Interview" with Elizabeth Zharoff on her RUclips Channel "The Charismatic Voice." He's actually asked about his bass singing and he said that when he sings low, he doesn't actually sing loud. In fact, he sings quiet to ensure he can produce the tonal quality we hear. The volume of his voice is all boosted by his microphone and in post. He said if he actually tried to project his bass notes, it would destroy his vocal chords and it would sound like crap because of the aforementioned vocal chord destruction. Basically, "If I were to sing bass loud, it wouldn't sound nearly as good and would hurt me in the process." You really should check out that interview if you haven't. It's really fascinating. She also has an interview with Tim Foust on her Channel that is equally as fascinating.
    All of that being said, Geoff Castellucci is INSANE!!

    I think the lowest note that Geoff hits in this is an F#1 or F1 (don't remember for sure - see Peter Barber's A&R, as he always checks Geoff's low notes, being a bass singer himself). So, yeah, about 6 notes from the low end of a piano is about right!
    And Geoff's attention to detail in these videos - check out his chest through his open shirt (not a hard thing to do, I'm sure!) and you'll see that Rick Underwood, the makeup artist used for this (and many VoicePlay videos) sprayed the "gaps" in between Geoff's ribs for the skeletonized look.

    According to Geoff he is not the loudest bass singer, so being able to hear him sing F#1s and lower is mostly due to a good sound system. Judging from his unedited shorts he can still sing an audible Bb1/A1 which is mighty impressive for someone that hasn't trained as an oktavist.

    Yeah, the thing with Geoff is that his range isn't just large. He owns those octaves. They're his. He doesn't own all six all the time, but he for sure is the boss of at least four of them. The way he effortlessly skips around is absolutely disgusting in the most "I'm seriously jealous because I thought I was good at jumping octaves until I saw this" way possible.

    • @Gael4ce
      @Gael4ce Месяц назад

      There’s a moment in “Ain’t No Sunshine” where he just casually drops like 3 octaves for one note. Then he continues back up where he was like that didn’t just happened.

    I’m not a vocal expert-so I view this from a different angle than you (I’m an author, lol). So I hope you’ll take that into account when I say that I disagree with you about the harmonies… it would *sound* amazing, but I really think it would take away from the effect, of him singing about this longing in his soul and this deep feeling of loneliness that comes across in the song. Because of that, I *personally* (because when it comes to these types of things, it is a matter of opinion, isn’t it?), think he was very smart in how he scattered in subtle harmonies throughout the song, while keeping the main melody mostly bare of harmonic accents.
    But like I said, that’s just my personal opinion. And I only left said personal opinion here because I find *I* enjoy hearing other people’s perspective on things… because if nothing else it brings a greater depth to my appreciation of art.
    Anyway, I digress. But I hope this finds you well!
