Hey, if the ram is 3000 speed then in bios select 3000 option ;) there is not much difference between 2933 and 3000 so you can also select 2933 and it will run fine also!
Hi :) thats probably due to the new Bios, you can use Profile 1 for A-XMP for a safer option ;) it should be closer to your default ram speeds? hope that helps
Hi :) yes the game boost works however it will not cap the volt so it can go to 4.2 at something like 1.47v, but if you manually adjust you can find your stable rates for the cpu so in reality the cput might be able to do 4.2 at 1.3... that way there is less strain on the cpu XMP profile is fine to use.
Hi, I have it currently at 4.33GHz @ 1.325v 9966 Cinebench score. Temps during Cinebench came up to 100c, should I dial the OC down? At 4.2GHz my score was 9774.

So i got 9741 pts on 4200 / 1.3000 volt 69 Celsius. First i did 1.3500 and gave me a hotter cpu. Then changed it to 1.3000. So, my question is now, if i go lower, lets say 1,29, would it make a diff or use 1.3200 for example. And what happens if you go to low?
Hey :) if you go too low then you may experience system crashes as the system isnt getting the volts it needs. Best would be to try 1.29 and run a couple of benchmarks (cinebench and GPU ones too) to really stress test it. If it doesnt crash after all that then you can try to continue using it ;)
Hi :) yes if you have updated your bios that is perfectly fine, some settings might be different but you can try to OC in increments and then test using Cinebench ;) let us know if it works

Hey, thats strange it is giving higher score with it turned on. Can you check what system ram speed it is stating with A-XMP turned on and off (ctrl+alt+del -> taskmanager -> performance). ?
@@gamerpotion Yes, the speed was at 3200 MHz with A-XMP on and at 2660 MHz with off. However I got a few more FPS with 3200 MHz, but lower cinebench score.

The overclock wouldn’t work. I went from 3.6 to 3.8 and i get into windows and it still says 3.46 or whatever and i go back into bios and its still at 3.8

Hey man i liked and i subscribed! But can you tell me when i put the "cpu core voltage" to "override mode" is it necessary to change it from auto? 5:49 pls reply
Hey :) you only need to set override mode to have a manual input value in there ;) with Auto if you make clock to 4.2 or something, then on auto it can vary the voltage and even go past 1.35 for example.. so even though you can leave it on auto, you can also manual override and use a fixed value. If you want to have constant 4.2 then I would recommend 1.3+ voltage but you need to test and see your stability ;) let me know how it goes

My a-xmp has profile 1& 2 instead of on button?

❤❤❤LOVE U BRO WORK MY 3600X 4.3 1.4000 V
Is there any advantage in doing this, over enabling game boost and XMP 2 profile. 2 clicks and you're done.
Hi :) yes the game boost works however it will not cap the volt so it can go to 4.2 at something like 1.47v, but if you manually adjust you can find your stable rates for the cpu so in reality the cput might be able to do 4.2 at 1.3... that way there is less strain on the cpu
XMP profile is fine to use.

Hey :) if you go too low then you may experience system crashes as the system isnt getting the volts it needs. Best would be to try 1.29 and run a couple of benchmarks (cinebench and GPU ones too) to really stress test it. If it doesnt crash after all that then you can try to continue using it ;)

Hey :) you only need to set override mode to have a manual input value in there ;)
with Auto if you make clock to 4.2 or something, then on auto it can vary the voltage and even go past 1.35 for example.. so even though you can leave it on auto, you can also manual override and use a fixed value. Hey, ah no :( its standard 1080 but im thinking of getting a 4k soon but i need to save up for it ;)
thanks! :)
Hey, I've got the same mobo and cpu as you, I've followed your settings (pumped it to 4.3 actually) but I'm getting 1k less score than you, am I doing something wrong?
What is your ram latency
Is this Mobo still relevant in 2021 end??cuz I am using a 3500 and want a decent upgrade
Hey :) what motherboard are you using now? the B450 Tomahawk max is quite a cool motherboard and works quite well ;)
@@gamerpotion I have a b450m ds3h frm gigabyte...I am selling it for a tomhawk as I need some better vrms Nd fans + I want to upgrade it
Ah ok :) yeah then the B450 Tomahawk max will be much superior for the overclocking! you wont be dissapointed ;)
@@gamerpotion yess...I will oc alot I just couldn't with my motherboard..
Nice :) yeah it will be good for that!!
Hey man. I can't find AMD Cool'n Quiet with the newest bios version, I managed to lock 4.35Mhz with 1.150v stable, but I see my clock's oscillating in ryzen master on idle. What could this be?.. when gaming and stress testing it does lock at 4.35 tough.
Hey :) could you confirm which version of the bios are you on now? I think they changed a few things on the new versions (which is why i never updated). But after you tell me the version I could look into it for you ;)
if its idle on lower clock and only goes high when required then that would be good for gaming, but for me I prefer having it constant for video editing ;)
@@gamerpotion I'm on the latest version for the B450 Tomahawk Max. I was looking into it yesterday and I saw some people saying that PSS is supposed to be Cool'NQuiet now, I disabled it and still have the same behavior with the cpu. It's strange because on hwinfo64 the frequency is locked at 4.3Mhz for all cores, but on ryzen master it shows me the clock's oscillating all the time even if I'm doing nothing at all. Thank you for the response
Hi, if you right click your taskbar, then select Task Manager (can also do ctrl+alt+del) then go to Performance tab and click on CPU. Does it show Base speed as default or the higher value??
@@gamerpotion It's showing 4.27 - 4.28 mhz
@@gamerpotion I guess I'm just tripping over this man, a lot of people say the same about clock's oscillation on ryzen master. I'm currently at 4.35mhz 1.175v with PSS and PBO off. I'm getting 1664points with CB15 and 3805 CB20.. do you think this values matches the OC settings I'm currently at now? temps are 74°c max with both CB and 78°c - 80 with aida64extreme, gaming it stay between 65-70s. I would appreciate if you could give me your feedback about theses measurements that I just gave you
with the cpu voltage core is it better to be at a higher or lower number?
hi for the cpu volt, lower is better as it doesnt heat up but it might not be stable so you would need to find the sweet spot where it is low enough to pass a benchmark test ;)
@@gamerpotion ty!!
If i higher the voltage is my pc gone heat up?
Hey :) your CPU temps will most likely rise due to the overclock, so you will need a good cpu cooler installed ;) if you are worried about the heat then I would just leave it on default or try to overclock in increments of 10 so you can monitor and test the temps in the benchmarks ;)
hope it goes ok with the oc for you! any probs just drop a message on here
@@gamerpotion i didnt get my pc yet but im looking how to get a little more performance for free and starting to learn a lot, thanks for the advise and keep up the work man 🙏💪
I got black screen after following it...what might be the problem?
Hey, sorry for the late reply, it maybe not be stable, are you able to get into the bios? what things did you change?
@@gamerpotion just followed your steps and configuration... I search for it some says cpu setting may not be compatible....
i got @4.6GHz stable with 1.3v using snowman t4 cooler
Hey! thats pretty amazing!! :D ive never seen that cooler before, but will look into it, congrats on the silicon lottery too!
bro ur bios version is too old and there is not cool and quiet options in new bios. So ı have optimization problem. do u have any ide about this?
hey! :) sorry yeah I never upgraded my one for some reason. Anyway I looked on the MSI forums - can you try looking in Advanced CPU configuration in OC tab and look for 'PSS Support'? let me know how it goes
@@gamerpotion let me check in few hours. Have the latest bios version.
@@gamerpotion yeah avaliable and check it "Disable"
@@gamerpotion so Override Boost and PSS support "Disable". Voltage 1.3v Right?
@@Harris.K Hey :) yes try to disable those and then try voltate 1.3v, run CineBench to see if stable and the other benchmarks I put in description ;) if not stable then can try to update to 1.35. Let me know how it is ;)
With Cinebench do benchmark first with default then with O.C. and see the difference.
Bro my screen is black and my mouse and keyboard aren't lighting up what do I do quickkkk
hey! what settings did you change in bios before it went black? can you still get into bios?
@@gamerpotion I changed my ryzen 5 3600x to 4.2 ghz and no I cannot, when I turn on my pc I get a black screen and my mouse and keyboard won't light up too
@@gamerpotion if it's easier for you wanna hop on a disc call?
@74 Flash Hey, you can manually reset the bios - just get a screwdriver, look for JBAT1 - there will be 2 pins sticking out.
First unplug your PSU, then touch the JBAT1 2 pins with screwdriver and count to 10 seconds, remove screwdriver away from motherboard, then plug PSU back in and turn on PC. This should reset your cmos and bios settings restored. let me know how it goes?
@@gamerpotion yeah thank you but i already saw a tutorial and did it and it works :)
Tho thanks for taking your time to help me
Hey guys, what stable overclock settings do you like to use?
My r5 3600 can do 4.3ghz on 1.2v, cbr23 scoring 9900-10000ish.
@@papagena111 very nice! :) thats really impressive, you have got the silicon lottery with that chip! :D 4.2 is highest i could go unfortunately..
I can go 4.33 @1.325V and be very stable. I can be stable at 4.4ghz but at 1.37ish volts I just don't like running that high of voltage for a daily.
@@OldestGoat Hey! thats really nice results! 4.33 and even 4.4 thats awesome! :D your ship must be part of the lottery chips ;)
very nice!
My 3600 can do 4.2GHz on 1.28v, i haven't tried anything higher cause i'm just an average user and gamer i doubt I'll see any benefits plus i only have 40$ air cooler and didn't feel comfortable to push it any higher.. temps on idle are around 40C, when gaming and doing some heavy work doesn't brake 65C.. on prime95 when i tested stability of my OC on small fft test highest temperature was 88C, test was one hour long. My cooler is Hyper 212 RGB Black.
Do you leave ram at 2993?
*2933
Hey :) sorry yeah I was coming from an Asrock mobo and ryzen doesnt like 3000mhz so it goes to 2933 and thats what I kept at a long time. on the MSI boards with AXMP we can see 3000mhz or higher ones there too, what is your ram? you dont have to keep at 2933 if its higher ;)
Thanks for the reply man, mine is 3200 so I changed it back seems to be fine.
You smashed my score btw, I got 9063 stock then 9545 but I'll take +500.
Hey thats great! glad its giving a good score now! thats awesome ;) what about your CPU? what OC settings did you apply for that?
My pc was unstable and reached 113degrees when i tried last time. Upgraded the cooler to FUMA2 from the stock one.
My score:
7900+ with stock cooler (no OC)
8596 with FUMA2 (no OC)
9545 with FUMA2 (OC 4.3Ghz 1.3v) cpu temp maxed at 69degrees.
Cooler made all the differences. Thinking about going for 4.4Ghz 😂
Hey! :) thats amazing results :D the FUMA2 cooler makes such a nice difference ;) am glad you got that and can now enjoy some nice OC results
Its not the last bios version :/
Hi, sorry yes i didnt want to upgrade as i was happy with my current version, I may upgrade later at some point, but some of the main steps should still remain the same ;)
