    I don't want to jinx it, but I think that you have helped me to solve consistent BSOD problems while running high intensive games, like Apex and Battlefront, since Week 1 of my R5 3600 and B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Max Wifi build two years ago. I just ran a MEMTEST86 and passed. I'm feeling lucky right now, and am considering reverting on my plan to RMA the board. I'm seriously grateful for this video.

    Cheers for this bud. I had to reset my old OC of 3 years because I thought my CPU was dying and completely forgot how to edit my OC. Tried stock but got way worse scores in Cinebench. Back to 4.2ghz on 1.26v on my 3700x. Using a Noctua NH-U12S for my cooler.

    My CPU and or motherboard is weird. Increasing voltage doesnt improve stability and actually makes it worse - prime95 will fail sooner with a higher voltage. LLC does nothing.
    Recently after fiddling a bit to see if I could stabilise FCLK OC (Was working fine in everything but CODMW, where it would crash randomly), now my standard OC is unstable (4.2ghz and 3600 ram) causing prime95 to fail.
    Ive adjusted VDDG, VDDP, SOC, VCORE, LLC but nothing seems to fix it.
    Has my chip or Mobo just degraded? I never put my voltages above 1.3 when testing FCLK OC so no idea why this has happened

    Question: Why do you disable PBO? do you re-enable once you've dialled in and tested your OC settings? Or leave it off completely?

    • @cryovaced
      @cryovaced Год назад

      PBO is just separate method to automatically OC your processor with an undervolt setting (very lay person speaking). You just turn it off if you're manually OCing your processor just like in the video.

    Is there any advantage in doing this, over enabling game boost and XMP 2 profile. 2 clicks and you're done.

    • @gamerpotion
      @gamerpotion  2 года назад

      Hi :) yes the game boost works however it will not cap the volt so it can go to 4.2 at something like 1.47v, but if you manually adjust you can find your stable rates for the cpu so in reality the cput might be able to do 4.2 at 1.3... that way there is less strain on the cpu
      XMP profile is fine to use.

    • @gamerpotion

      Hey :) if you go too low then you may experience system crashes as the system isnt getting the volts it needs. Best would be to try 1.29 and run a couple of benchmarks (cinebench and GPU ones too) to really stress test it. If it doesnt crash after all that then you can try to continue using it ;)

      Hey :) you only need to set override mode to have a manual input value in there ;)
      with Auto if you make clock to 4.2 or something, then on auto it can vary the voltage and even go past 1.35 for example.. so even though you can leave it on auto, you can also manual override and use a fixed value. With stock cooler there’s serious problems about the temperature or not?

    • @gamerpotion
      @gamerpotion  2 года назад +1

      Hey :) i have seen people O.C with stock cooler and were fine so i think sometime it depends on the chip.
      First with stock cooler, load up cinebench and keep everything on stock clocks and see what your temps are like using the hardware monitoring sofwares ;)
      if its ok then can try O.C in small steps. So can try 4.0 then work way up to 4.2
      also you should some sort of game-boost button in bios, try using that with stock cooler and see how it does with temps, if its ok then you should be ok but its all about trying the best settings for stable o.c ;)

    Hey man. I can't find AMD Cool'n Quiet with the newest bios version, I managed to lock 4.35Mhz with 1.150v stable, but I see my clock's oscillating in ryzen master on idle. What could this be?.. when gaming and stress testing it does lock at 4.35 tough.

      Hey :) could you confirm which version of the bios are you on now? I think they changed a few things on the new versions (which is why i never updated). But after you tell me the version I could look into it for you ;)
      if its idle on lower clock and only goes high when required then that would be good for gaming, but for me I prefer having it constant for video editing ;)

      @@gamerpotion I'm on the latest version for the B450 Tomahawk Max. I was looking into it yesterday and I saw some people saying that PSS is supposed to be Cool'NQuiet now, I disabled it and still have the same behavior with the cpu. It's strange because on hwinfo64 the frequency is locked at 4.3Mhz for all cores, but on ryzen master it shows me the clock's oscillating all the time even if I'm doing nothing at all. Hey :) your CPU temps will most likely rise due to the overclock, so you will need a good cpu cooler installed ;) if you are worried about the heat then I would just leave it on default or try to overclock in increments of 10 so you can monitor and test the temps in the benchmarks ;)
