Tremendous video Steve, great tips on the melons and very useful, I’ve taken your advice and did the side shoots on the tomatoes and you was bang on about them sulking for ten days, and now there flourishing. Thanks a lot mate for all your efforts and inspiration, have a great week and stay safe David 👍👍

I grow lunch bag size melons in zone eight Pacific Northwest if you ever want seeds. Had to stop spending summers in Cornwall when COVID hit. Just canceled my June reservation as airlines are a mess
Grow in feed bags stuffed with compost so the roots spread instead of the vine
Compact plant fruit in eight weeks
    Greenhouse trained up jute rope
Mulch bag to form hill as needed never let vines spread

I'm so glad for you posting this video, as last year, I planted my melon from seeds I had saved from a Sun Kissed Melon, orange fruit, and it was so delicious, and encouraged me to grow, but I never got to harvest, but they sprawled all over everywhere, picking and poking me, and covering over other plants and no matter how much room I allowed the vines, the fruit didn't mature. Now I know why, thanks to your video. Really appreciate it, too.
Now, can you say whether a Butternut Squash has the same growing procedures? Please reply.

The problem I have found during many years of growing melons is that unless it is a VERY warm spring/summer the male and female flowers open on different days. So you need a few of them to increase your chances of pollinating by hand 😤

I have a similar poly tunnel cover. Mine has been ravaged by the wind and needs repair. The company said to use fishing line. That tore through immediately. How do you repair your cover?
