Never heard the song at the beginning despite listening to a bit of Death, but somehow as soon as that big chord hit I immediately thought "Oh, this has to be Death." Sometimes you can just tell who the band is by very certain key sounds they have lmao.
'Heartwork' by Carcass is most easily recognizable! Love the outro when lead guitars join the main harmony plus the raspy vocals make it sound even more badass. Nice playing \m/

Napalm Death story, when I was in college we had a Rock and Roll history class (Ohio University) and it was always the first elective to get booked I got in somehow and on our first day he explained the concepts of rock and roll. Before we got done he played music to see what everyone was into some 60s music and on for the most part before he released us he said “I have one more song but only a true rock and roll lover will enjoy” he proceeded to play Napalm Death and I was the only person enjoying it, funny as fuck

Found your channel very recently and gotta say absolutely awesome stuff. I've found some new bands and songs through you that I have absolutely loved. Listen to alot of Death Metal, Black Metal, and Melodic and all variations inbetween for the past 15+ years. Been blasting Skeletonwitch for the past 2 days because of one of your earlier videos. Damn they are solid.
Missed Cannibal Corpse & Entombed. Could you please make a part 2? Or make one other from another genre? Such a great idea/challenge! Nice channel my friend, truly one of my favorites ones! Greetings from Greece

Man merkt deinen Videos die investierte Arbeit und die Liebe zum Detail an. (Sorry, daß ich in deutscher Sprache schreibe. Es ist Sonntagmorgen und ich bin ein wenig faul.)
9/10 for me. I knew about half of the song names. For benediction I had to look away after the 10 second point to keep listening because I had no clue. I am not really a fan of Benediction, but I have listened to their early work. In fairness, my favorite song by them is I. Honestly no clue how I guessed them. I missed Cannibal Corpse and I am extremely salty about that. I would have expected a Barnes song, or something from Vile, but it is what it is. Another fantastic video, congrats on hitting 100k+. You absolutely deserve it.
Damn, I didn't recognize any of these bands. Goes to show just how big metal is as a genre. I don't really have a favorite band right now, but I've been listening to some Unlucky Morpheus, Iron Attack, and Thousand Leaves/Eyes recently. Also a bit of Yingwie Malmsteen. I hope I spelled that right.
@@exanimusofficial Metal is really, really big. I got into metal mostly through youtube uploads of metal remixes of Touhou songs, and then branched out from there. So I mostly know Japanese metal from the last 20 years with some electronic influence.
it's funny to know all the bands yet can't name a single one of them correctly (mostly because of not knowing the song). But you get the "oh this sounds very unique to some band that I've heard before, just can't put it in place". Admittedly should've been able to name Death anyway, and I should've even known the Carcass song. Hard to argue with this being the core of death metal when you know and have listened to all of them despite not being super knowledgeable about the depths of the genre. Certainly at least some of them made something that put them in the history books as game changers, pioneers, people who had a sound.
Watching this gentleman play guitar makes me want to do everything in my life better. Power to you Mr. Suffocater. Wishing you all the luck and success you can handle.
I missed Cannibal Corpse because I don't listen ro them and for Entombed I managed to recognise that I was listening to a Swedish band, surely thats worth half a point? 😂
lol i only knew to name heartwork by carcass because of how easily recognizable it is. i knew most just couldn’t put the pieces together since there’s so many bands and songs out there
damn 10 seconds is a very short amount of time and often a few seconds more gives you a few key notes to trigger your memory i.e. the Obituary track and Benediction
I recognised Bolt Thrower (I was even a bit anxious when they would pop up) and Carcass sounded familiar but I couldn't remember the name of the band. I guess that makes me 'Slightly Unwell Metal' or something
im a little sad you didnt play any kalmah, but its cool to learn about these new bands. i also really liked the sound you got with your les paul style guitar
For sure bolt thrower for me song he played is off my favorite album by them. Man I never could get into the Swedish sound. Never did anything for me just always felt like a weak version of death metal. But hey just my opinion alot of people absolutely love it and I respect that \m/
Awesome as always. Ending on Bolt Thrower was a nice tip of the hat. No Necrophagia though? Those last 2+ minutes of "Painful Discharge" are hauntingly heavy.
Not into Death Metal but I did know first two and the 4th one. I actually guessed the 8th one to be Morbid Angel even though I didn't know which song - the style was so obvious and disonant it had to be Morbid Angel lol. I know all the bands that you played songs from, even seen some of them live. :D I just don't know them that well that I would know all the songs. I had been more of a thrash guy but sometimes these things are sort of interlinked. Like Death, Napalm Death or even Bolt Thrower or Benediction will sound very thrashy....
Hi !!! I knew everything excepted Cannibal Corpse (i prefer the first 4 albums...and i don't know very well their later albums...). Great choices as usual 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Haha Gravelord Nito made me click Also love that you chose Flattening of Emotions. I’ve always thought Human was a bit of an underrated Death album, I’m a big fan of Paul Masvidal
I managed to get only Bolt Thrower :(. In my defense I can only say that I am mostly prog death/ deathcore listener lately. Also the amount of music you can listen to now is so huge that I have to remind myself to go back to the records I like to listen to them again or they will be forever lost for me.
Dude...everyone knows Heartwork from Carcass. That's literally the only REALLY famous song of them. xD That was the only song I could tell the name. Some others I could only guess the bands. Specially the first one. You can easily tell it's Death by the riffs, although I'm not into Human like at all, I'm only into TSoP and Symbolic. I don't like Old-school extreme metal. I'm more into mid 90ies to these more modern extreme metal, like Septicflesh.
You are fvcking awesome. I recognized only 2 first bands. In the rest of them You should play songs from telediscs, like "Stranger aeons" from Entombed "Clandestine" or "God of empitness" Morbid Angel's "Covenant". It was be easier 😁
I got 7 out of 10, so not too bad. Never got into Carcass or Benediction much so missed them. Haven't listened to any Cannibal Corpse past their first several albums, so didn't get that one either. It was a little tricky to get some of those in the 10 second limit as the riffs are re-recorded. Would have been instant if it was the original album production.
I immediately recognized Death, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel and Obituary. I also used to listen to Deicide and a bit of Benediction and Entombed but it was such a long time ago, like 20 + years ago. Never heard of Bolt Thrower before.
Ok, I got CD's from most of these bands but not all the same one's that you played from... I think owning the original Umbilical Cord - Waste of Nutrients and GRAVE and Demolition Hammer should count for extra credit though?
I didn't recognize Benediction in time and I'll punish myself for it, somehow I have always gravitated more towards The Grand Leveller than to Transcend The Rubicon, tho both are masterpieces of course. Nice to see some love for Once Upon The Cross for once. And hail the mighty Bolt Thrower. You missed Autopsy for a perfect death metal list.
Very good challenge. I caught 9 bands with 4 song names. To be honest the black metal competition was much more difficult. Thanks a lot. I am looking forward to next episode. Cheers!!!
@@skxj Yeah, mine are all on cd too, unfortunately all of mine are replacements of the ones I bought during their original releases so they're all first pressings. You're awesome! Finally someone on YT who judges Deathmetal the way I do. 10/10 original pressings in my collection....
Death, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, ?????, ?????, Deicide, Entombed, Morbid Angel, ?????, BOLT THROWER
Was able to guess most of them so I guess I'm not fully death metal 😅 Would be cool to see your set up and how you record these.
8 of 10 ain’t bad. I never had that Deicide lp but you just reminded me to scoop it up! Awesome list! 🤘🏿
I only got “Death” “Morbid Angel” and “Obituary”. I suck.
Not at all if you got any of em thats rad \m/
I thought the entombed was grave. Damn sweedes.
Ok, I got CD's from most of these bands but not all the same one's that you played from...
I think owning the original Umbilical Cord - Waste of Nutrients and GRAVE and Demolition Hammer should count for extra credit though?
i aint it seems :'(
love your videos and congrats on 100k! Do you use a pedal or something for switching between different tunings and if so what do you use?
I didn't recognize Benediction in time and I'll punish myself for it, somehow I have always gravitated more towards The Grand Leveller than to Transcend The Rubicon, tho both are masterpieces of course. Nice to see some love for Once Upon The Cross for once. And hail the mighty Bolt Thrower. You missed Autopsy for a perfect death metal list.
Very good challenge. I caught 9 bands with 4 song names. To be honest the black metal competition was much more difficult. Thanks a lot. I am looking forward to next episode. Cheers!!!
Yes I got them all right. Prove me wrong 😂🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I didn’t recognize any band but I know the names ofcourse. I listen to more newer deathmetal bands
I own every album, all first U.S. pressings...I am death metal!!!! Hahaha 🤘🏻 I freaking love your videos, Suffocater!!
Nice I too own all these master pieces but all on cd . I bought em within the first couple weeks they were first released.
@@skxj Yeah, mine are all on cd too, unfortunately all of mine are replacements of the ones I bought during their original releases so they're all first pressings. I lost all my music in a storage unit back in 2000 but I started recollecting my music collection in 2019 for nostalgia. Actually, my collection of old school death metal albums is even bigger than the collection I lost years ago so I'm happy. 😁🤘🏻
@@devildozer oh I bet that was tough, all you can do is replace em cause ya gotta have em. LoL.
Missed benediction. This list was honestly a bit easier than the black metal one. Let's see how hard it gets if a part 2 comes out!
Bro i'm wating for thrash metal🤘🤘
