Love the series although I always feel as a fraud and not a metalhead afterwards. Great picks, I guess Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Tiamat got sacrificed for the sake of less frequently mentioned bands? Also Count Raven and Isole could have been included, I think they are also underappreciated. Also Anathema, Pentecost III is one of the coolest doom metal albums. Are you planning to do a separate video on funeral doom? I love Ahab.
Perfect choices for a doom metal compilation! The Obsessed (especially the first two LPs are mind-blowing), Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Cathedral among my favourites. Would love to see a funeral doom compilation in the future \m/ \m/
It was harder for me to recognize many of them because it wasn't the original recording. Many of these bands have such unique sounds that they are more easily distinguished from one another if you hear how the drums, guitar and overall atmosphere sounds when you hear the songs, for me at least. I still got 7 of them though, I didn't recognize the Pentagram, Obssessed and Trouble songs.
Finally I find someone giving some love to Cathedral, and specifically their song Enter the Worms. They are such an underrated band. Barely anyone even knows about that song.
I’m surprised by how many times I was stumped. Still got most of the picks right at least by artist. As soon as I heard these riffs from Cathedral, Solitude Aeturnus, and The Obsessed I knew I had to add them on a playlist and I’m definitely skimming through at least an album or two when I get off work. Seriously cool picks and you did a great job mocking up the tones, especially when you were doing Candlemass and Trouble. The tone you had for The Tempter was a dead ringer
@@motostarmx1777 for a second I thought you meant the song by Candlemass 😂 but yeah I’ve been looking into Solitude Aeturnus and they’re fucking great. Thank you for recommending Doomshine, I’ll have to check them out!
I'm jealous lmao, Solitude Aeturnus is one of my favorite bands ever, honestly every one of their albums is at least good, their first 3 especially are just legendary. Into the Depths of Sorrow is mindblowing, if you like The Tempter from Trouble I always found Solitude Aeturnus style in their first album very similar to that song. Also Rob Lowe in his prime is straight up one of my favorite vocalists of all time, he's so good.
@@francompalmieri SA was definitely a standout for me here, the bits from Alone I’ve heard so far (mostly diving into Cathedral atm) sound a hell of a lot like if Candlemass had Maynard from Tool on vocals. It’s a combination that I’m really into, can’t wait to get a little deeper into them
@@doomsdaycce Yeah they're the Candlemass from America if it makes sense, I would say those two are the pillars of epic doom metal. Btw have you ever listened to Scald? Will of the Gods is Great Power is one of the greatest epic doom albums, can stand toe to toe with any SA/Candlemass album IMO, it's got more of a viking Bathory vibe combined with Candlemass, heavily recommend if you haven't listened, one of my favorite albums ever, also an incredible vocalist.
Love it dude, keep it up!! Mad respect for including Back Sabbath cause even many people who like and listen to doom don't even know Sabbath started it all or don't even listen to 'em. Weird. ANYWAY, can't wait for power metal :D
I started listening to doom metal a week ago, only because i gave Black Sabbath a chance and self-titled blew my mind. Fantastic album and it got me instantly into doom metal. Love it :D
Absolutely amazing bunch there!! I'll never tire of hearing "Enter the Worms" and I'm away to listen to "The Ethereal Mirror" now. I got 5 bands there.
I listen to Doom Metal subgenres since 2008 (Death Doom Metal and Funeral Doom Metal in general) so this video is a gift for me. I gussed all the songs. Though it was hard since you did mostly trad doom and stoner doom in this video (not funeral or death-doom)
Yes! Now I stand a chance! Some I knew almost from the first note: Cathedral; Electric Wizard; Sabbath; Sleep, a couple I guessed and a couple stumped me, even though I have the LPs. I have a lot of this style and to be honest they can sound similar and I'm also old and forgetful. I'd probably do well with some 70s metal. Well played as always.

Awesome! Shoulda ended with the diabolical tritone from the 1st Sabbath record though lol...I only knew probably the most obvious ones; 1,2 & of course 10.
beside Pentagram i know all bands but still just hit the target on 6. Confused Electric Wizard with The Obsessed and Sleep with High on Fire. anyhow, cool selection! kind of cool how Black Sabbath all bands smell and still don't sound anything like them with their riff patterns.
How come I have 8 of these songs on my playlist, have listened to 9 of these songs total before, and have heard a song from all 10 of these bands, and yet only got 5 correct? 😭
I only got Candlemass, Solitude, Trouble, and Black Sabbath. Into The Void by Black Sabbath is the only song I can play so far, don't know why i chose a 6 minute song to start with lol maybe its the huge riff.🤘
Thought Ima doom metal. But when recognized only Cathedral and Black Sabbath, realized i am DEATH-DOOM metal, not doom)))) The riffs are awesome though)) Trouble is gorgeous!
If anyone is from the Dmv area there is a huge DOOM fest in Fredrick 20-30 doom bands play up there all night . The obsessed plays every year and pentagram did last year

I figured this was going to be classic doom bands, which I'm not a fan of. Doom to me is: My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Evoken, Isole, Ahab, Clouds, Woe Unto Me, Disembowelment, Empyrium, Forest Of Shadows.
So you decide whether someone is a real doomer if you recognise al of the bands you played on your gitar? Where is Draconian? where is Nox Aurea? Where is Saturnus? Where is Swollow The Sun Non the less, well played! I only recognised Candlemass. I'm more familiar with doommetal from the late 90's and early 2000's ;D
Made it interesting twist with the Church Within track. Most people I've met dig Lunar Womb more . I guess cause thats a big label album but fuck that album rips! The riffs and the time changes! That and the Solitude track. Great list! D.F.F.D

I was like, “He better have “the Tempter”” and I wasn’t disappointed.
Sleep, Saint Vitus, Trouble and of course Black Sabbath.... This was over 5min of epicness!! Loved it.
I really should have listened to more Doom back in the 90s. I got 3. Well, it's never too late. Thanks for the inspiration& time for a deep dive!
Great vid! Doom and Stoner are my favorite genres! I especially like a lot of the retro stoner-doom bands

Most definitely
I love funeral doom
But no crowbar:(
10 of 10.
It's a good introduction to doom metal list, after all. Basically the 10 most essential bands.
Witchfinder General?

That whole album is a gem.
Its such a great song!
And the cover art is perfect! It really tells you what to expect from the vocals… 😂
Catherdral are one of the most well known bands in the genre. Far from underrated. Total bs
No reason to play a bunch of notes. Just hit the right notes. 👍
I was bobbing my head by the end of each band! I love how you try to match both the guitar and bass tones for these vids, they're so sick 🔥🤘

Candlemass I used to play their Nightfall album front to back on guitar so heavy
