    It started so strong. Just... RTD needs to leave timey wimey plots to Moffat. The ending of this episode just fell flat on its ass and the time loop just didnt even kind of work. Moffat's influence could have helped the end.. but hopefully they can explain something in a later episode that adds some context.

      Yeah I agree the beginning was the best part. The episode overall didn't really work for me there's a lot of unanswered questions, maybe they'll come back to it later🤞

      When dide faeries ever use string or write notes? This isn't a fearie circle - it looks liek Wicca. It's an incoherent mess from the start. It's like they just filmed a first draft.

    I certainly think that you are in the minority with this review. While i wished some things had been explained better or at all, the premise, mood and cinematography is the highest quality Doctor Who has had in years. I agree with the review score of this episode, which as of now sits at about 8.5 stars. Fantastic with a lot of room for speculation.

      I liked the beginning but the more it goes on & turns into a turn left like episode that's really where I didn't like it. I have no probs with the way it was directed, for me I felt that there was too much unexplained or didn't really make sense & then it didn't matter because it was a dream scenario ending anyway. It didn't really work for me. Glad you enjoyed the episode though 😊

      I know not much was explained about this episode, but I wonder if that was intentional since Kate Stewart makes a point that they have been defending the world from the supernatural more latley compared to alien invasion, and that scene felt kind of ominous to me.
      I won't be surprised if we get more supernatural stories and Ruby and the reacuring woman will be a part of that and not so much about aliens.
      Also, I believe this would be called a "Doctor-lite" episode, similar to how there are also "companion-lite" episodes.

      @@rydamusprime well hopefully RTD comes back to address some of the things unexplained in this episode later this season. I'm the biggest fan of the fantastical, supernatural approach to the show so maybe that's why it didn't work for me. 😊

      That's great glad you enjoyed it😀 A lot of people have said they really liked the episode, unfortunately it didn't really work for me. I felt that too much was unexplained & didn't really matter anyway with the whole dream scenario ending where it was all undone. I thought it made the story feel pointless anyway. For me It kinda felt like the second half was a less interesting rehash of turn left. But as I said I love that you enjoyed it. 👌

    FINALLY RTD on form. Given the framing from The Devil's Chord the supernatural elements are now working for me. Ignore this review, the episode is tight, mysterious, feeds into the supernatural elements while maintaining a science fiction trope. It's RTD, this is likely expanded upon in later episodes

    • @thewhoview
      @thewhoview  8 месяцев назад +1

      I appreciate your opinion, the episode just wasn't for me. It starts off with mystery & intrigue but a lot of it goes nowhere, is unexplained & feels like none of it really mattered because it was all undone. Maybe your right this could possibly be set up for more things to come. I suspect this will be an episode that divides people, you either like it or you don't. You have to keep in mind the video is just 1 persons opinion it's not objective everyone can have other opinions. I'm glad you enjoyed it though 😊

      @@thewhoview EVERY word you said in the review was valid and understandable, I just really want to like this series and given how bad Space Babies was, how full of holes Boom was and how silly (but fun) Devil's Chord was, I really needed this win :D

    My wife doesn't like Doctor Who. She does like mystery and spooky. Until the end I was going to have her watch this episode, but it it became too hand-wavy and vague.

    Utter tripe. Mad Jack, the clue is in the name, wants to fire a Nuclear Weapon. An old lady says some scary words to him and he runs and hide under the bed! If that makes sense to you, fine, I’m at a lost. Mad people don’t care if they live or die. That is what makes them scary!
    Ruby’s mother. That’s twice now she been shown to be a nasty piece of work. What could have been said for her to react in this way? Even the Devil would get more love😊
    Do I think these questions will be answered in later episodes? No, it’s going to be left open ended. Awful story and a waste of 45 minutes. I will never watch again!

    • @thewhoview

      Yeah the episode didn't really work for me. That's the 1 thing I was wondering is wtf did the Mystery woman say to everyone she came in contact with. On another note honestly the only episode I've gone back to re-watch this season was boom. I'm not a fan of the fantastical, supernatural approach to the show.

      Actually Ruby's adopted mother is a wonderful person but in the episode where we first meet Ruby her mother really seems to care for her and love her but when the goblins changed stuff she forgot about Ruby because as Ruby know Ruby made her life better as the Dr said he lost lives also in this episode it's not so much her mum's a bad person but something happened and it affected her views on Ruby who she clearly seems to care about

    • @RaymondWilliams-uu1ns
      @RaymondWilliams-uu1ns 5 месяцев назад

      @@isaacmaskey468 The old woman said something to Ruby’s adoptive mother and she ran away from her in horror. As a parent that is completely insane. Had the old woman said to me that my daughter was the Devil incarnate and about to end the World, I wouldn’t believe her and secondly even if I did I would never run away from my child. It doesn’t make sense to anyone with children .
      RTD is a stupid writer!

    • @thewhoview
      @thewhoview  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah I thought it started ok generating intrigue & mystery but then it goes on & becomes essentially a less interesting remake of turn left following Ruby go on with her life without the doctor. That I found really boring, & then with part of it turns into RTD's views on British politics. The episode raises so many questions that it never answers & by the end it reverses everything anyway so it never mattered to begin with. It didn't work for me.
