I wasn't lmao but they offered recorder classes when I was in infant school. My parents made me do it in year 2 since most of the kids did it.
But I quit once I got to primary school,
I took up violin lessons in year 4 (which I still do now) and Also played the flute in a marching band but quit after 2 years.

That second guy was actually really good, even when he was playing Despacito, I know it's not really anybody's favorite song, but his tone was rich, the vibrato was even and controlled but natural sounding, and his ornamentation was tasteful. The audience also responded really positively to his Carmen performance and booed when Simon buzzed him. I know it sucks how people seem to play pop music to gain any attention, but at least the audience didn't roll their eyes at the first sign of classical music this time. I think this was overall pretty positive (not including the first guy)
I totally agree, it's a shame the audience is not used to classical music and like it less than pop famous music, but it was still played really well on the recorder and that's a plus compared to the other mediocre musicians just stripping on stage

Another reason, why I'm actually glad to live in Germany. You have to search hard to even find a school, where it is mandatory to learn an instrument, and search even harder to find one where the recorder is the only option.

I am in the woodwind ensemble of the school and I am in the flute section even though I am a tenor recorder player. After one of the sessions, she said "Are you planning to movr on to a real instrument? Flute? Oboe? Bassoon?"

That's easy. The piano case is right there on the outside of the piano when you are playing it. It is often painted black. Honestly, that's what the woodwork that holds the iron frame and the strings and keyboard and mechanism of the piano itself is called.
You might need some professional to bring it somewhere else. It is probably the most delicate case of all, where a dent on the case will make the whole piano gang cringe. As the earlier comment suggest, it is usually black. Lifting it 40 hours a day will guarantee a person to be 'The Rock'. have a nice day

@@jasono7483 Yes, totally, a grand piano needs a special board, a special dolly, heavy quilted padding (possibly in the form of a made-to-measure cover) with straps and buckles, and some movers who know how to remove the legs and lyre and get the instrumnet down onto the board and dolly--and then to reattach and re-erect it at the end of the move.
For short-range moves within a building that don't involve going through a door, you can use a special hydraulic jack-cum-dolly, or mount it onto a three-pronged dolly like these www.vandaking.com/grand-piano-dollies.html, which allow you to keep the instruement horizontal. (Some pianos that are moved frequently, say around a rehearsal room or stage to different positions, are kept semi-permanantly on such a gizmo).
What you can't do is move it any substantial distance using the casters built into the legs. Those are designed only for small adjustments of the position of the instrument when it is already basically in place.
Moving an upright piano is a bit simpler because you don't have to remove anything or lay it on its side. They also weigh less than a large grand (though not necessarily less than a baby grand).
Well, not so much "you" for any of this as a specially trained stage crew or a specialized moving company.
Harpsichords, being built without an iron frame and with much lighter wooden components than a piano's, can be moved by a single person (often the harpsichordist) using similar techniques if a team of husky undergraduate volunteers is not available to assist.

No idea why I'm putting this here but here's how I started with my recorder. This is also to show that it's a legit instrument and not just something you're forced to play in primary school.
I began playing in preschool cause my mum wanted me to choose, either singing or an instrument, I chose a recorder cause I thought it sounded nice (ahem SIMON it actually sounds really pleasent, it's just your problem that you never learned how to play it right). So pretty much kept on playing even when I moved to America in the first grade. In the second grade everyone was actually forced to play recorder as well, which I was kind of happy about. And am playing still to this day and I've even been composing (short) pieces for both alto and soprano recorder (I play both but prefer alto)
I also had a tutoring job teaching kids the recorder (past tense cause of the whole COVID-19 thing)

Twoset when watching talent shows: TRIGGERED IN CLASSICAL MUSICIAN
Honestly It's painful how very obvious that Simon is looking for the Pretty people to bank on to turn into money machines and don't know how awful that world is (a lot of upcoming singers) with these shows, Unless they have actual understanding of music such as anyone who actually plays good with instruments. I actually liked the Recorder guy and sure the other two songs are clumsy, but you can tell he has love for his instruments and respect them because he puts them down on a flat surface, He doesn't toss them around for dramatic effect, and he just wants to give the Recorder the love they deserve. The people who won't strip or can actually play good Will actually know when to call out bullshit if they're selected (Orchestra is a lot harsher to the musicians in getting in things and has you learning what is bull and what is not) and Simon doesn't want that. He also created X factor which had huge problems and took advantage of some boy bands that were created from that show, and he also is trying to create a Kpop like thing to "combat the Kpop world as it's where the money is at and will do it with British pop". It's unfortunately a bigger issue than people realize.
One day Simon Cowell thought "Hey I know how I can make a boatload of money and get famous at the same time! Why don't I just run a talent selection for pop-singers (and of course sign them into contracts they can't get out of) but unlike a regular executive, make a TV show out of the selection process, so even if everyone is crap I still have a hit show and can run away with all the cash!" He's created a win win situation for himself and no one else involved benefits from it. He even gets to play it off as charitable since he's "making the careers of young talented people" when in reality they get basically nothing out of any publicity they gain from the show, it all goes to Simon.

Petition to appreciate real talent on America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent.
We should get real musical talent on the shows. Some of them are actually good but most are scripted and cringe. I wanted to go on the show when I was younger but now I see how fake it is. People have exposed these kinds of shows before showing what they really are about.

Sadly, I think the Miguel had felt desperate to get some "real" applause. Many talented musicians are often are to play the pop songs instead of pieces that actually have some difficulty in order to receive some praise....it really is sad.
I felt like the audience was impressed already by the first piece and were actually into Bizet's Carmen Overture too, but probably the manuscript required Miguel to play some pop music that viewers could name and sing along at home.

Miguel said that he played Flight of the Bumblebee. But the show didn't air it. Y'know, sighs they're not showing the real talent for the sake of entertainment
