It basically is one of the kinda regular moments where the vast audience in the country gets a glimpse on how brutally controlled entertainment media is - in this case in America. Something that doesnt fit what people like those judges dont deem to fit, is not good, even if the folks behind the judges are absolutely on fire.
Ever wondered where those pesky ear worm summer songs come from, which get brutalized up and down on radio for months on end? Simon Cowel and others are literally dictating music taste and talent however they see fit.

    • @susanivy3619

He said he liked it, what, he didn't fawn over it properly? I am not particularly a fan of any of the judges and only catch a random performance when it goes viral and the YT thumbnail catches my eye. With that aside, imo it was the technical hardship that was impressive, not so much the music itself...and most don't have a clue how difficult *that* was... I didn't until I read the comments.
Listen, the girls get a 10 for talent but lets be honest, wasn't it more of a musical gimmick than a showcase of pure *musical* talent alone? Was it not a purely performative act, based on the hardship, not the music in and of itself? If they came out and played behind a curtain and all you heard was the music, would it still sound as amazing to you? Yes, the audience went wild but was that primarily from the music or from their "act"? Would the audience go out of their way to listen to their music, sans the visuals? Music is subjective, so there may be a few, but I doubt the majority.
FYI The "entertainment industry" does not have the power it once did, now that anyone can go online and be exposed to every kind of music from every corner of the globe (hence me watching this band). @@Randleray
edit: Also, if what you said is true, the show didn't have to book them at all and the judges of past shows would *never* have reacted so positively to people like Susan Boyle. Apologies for the long rant.

@@susanivy3619 "Also, if what you said is true, the show didn't have to book them at all"
Are you really this short sighted?!
Since its beginnings almost 20 years ago, the 'Got Talent' shows regularly book mediocer and downright bad talents, so the judges can actually judge.
Its first and foremost an entertainment show. And just like most other shows only function with a certain amount of drama, Got talent needs that aswell...
You have good thoughts, but you still gotta mauch to learn. Dont want to sound cendecending tho.

I genuinely don't understand how Simon is a judge. He really does not understand music. Watch ANY of the JYP reality shows, and not only can he explain why there was an issue, he can perform it himself to show what he means. Simon knows he is expected to be needlessly critical without any SPECIFIC explanation. Just negativity, so he leans into it. Meanwhile, I think we could have heard this from any college marching band in America.

Dancing AND playing an instrument, like a trumpet (I play trumpet and dance as well, it’s DIFFICULT as heck) is VERY difficult. 👏👏👏, it’s crazy to see this, it sounded amazing. 高校生のマーチングバンドで「京都橘高校吹奏楽部」は演奏しながらダンスを踊ります。とくにベニーグッドマン「sing sing sing」が得意です。
Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass Band is a marching band of high school students who dance while playing. They are especially good at Benny Goodman's "sing sing sing.

I have always wondered how brass instruments make notes with limited "buttons". So, it's how the lips form that produces the notes? Impressive!

I'm so happy they performed here! Been seeing them on Tiktok for ages now! Incredibly talented group and I am damn sure this just proved to be a huge opportunity for them. It's a shame that we seem to generally care more about singers than instrumentalists. This is literally top tier talent.

Crowd fixing to go to Simon's house with pitchforks and torches....🤪
It was genuinely heart-warming to see the audience response, and I saw another story indicating that the backstage crew was bopping along the whole time, and I imagine they may be pretty jaded.
These girls have a number of RUclips videos up, and they're just a great group.

When I was kid (pre-RUclips) I saw a trumpet player on TV who blew me away and I fell in love with the sound, but after spending a year listening to myself I gave up. These performers' talents really show how great these instruments can sound. Maybe if I'd had examples like this on RUclips to motivate me, I'd have stuck with it.

I think these girls were previous members of their high school marching band. High school marching band competition in Japan is quite a big thing there. Most of them are all girl marching band. You might wanna check out the most popular band which is the Kyoto Tachibana Marching Band. They're so good they have been invited in the Rose Bowl Parade, I think more than once.

Specifically, you get your diaphragm strong enough to regulate and support the air flow while conditioning your body for endurance.

    • @sheumack

My father was a trumpet player, and it's partly training, partly technique. Brass/Woodwind players have insane lung capacity and diaphragm strength because they exercise the muscle so much. But there's also "circular breathing" where they use hold air in their mouths, push it out with their cheeks, and at the same time take the next breath through the nose. Digeridoo players are probably the masters at this.
