    This dish produced such a nice memory for my daughter and me. It was her first night of college, first night staying in the dorms, almost no one staying there yet, so it was big and empty and quiet, and she decided to come to my house for dinner. I knew she liked Ramen and I had seen this recipe and it was intriguing. I made it almost exactly as shown, although I did not have homemade vegetable stock on hand. I only modified the recipe in one way: I added 1/8 tablespoon of dried mushroom powder, which gave the broth additional depth. We also agreed that about 25% more broccoli would be even better. But all of those are quibbling; we sat down to eat it and our eyes got wide: depth, complexity, salt, fat, acid, heat and umami to beat the Band! We’ll make this again.

The cashew recipes look wonderful, but my oldest daughter has a severe nut allergy so it's nice seeing a creamy dairy-free alternative that's also nut-free.

    I just made this and it turned out so good ,
    although I used store bought chilli oil and veg stock cube . And I just sautéed mushroom and tofu .
    For broth I also added mix veg of cabbage, carrot , green pepper and green beans and boiled it with broth (mix of veg stock and coconut cream) and
    I boiled soba noodles
    So much better than instant noodles .
    The combination of sesame paste coconut cream and all this is too good .
    I think you are so right it has changed my life 😂

    I have tried quite a few Will Yeung recipes at this point, and every one of them has been a wonderful tour d' force for my taste buds. Every cookbook or cooking page I've been to has had a flop or two, but I have yet to find a bad Will Yeung recipe. I was so mad but everything was in the pan so I just kept cooking until I was done, and it smelled soooo good I ate entire thing standing in the kitchen. MAN, IT WAS AMAZINGLY HEAVENLY and made me soooo happy! So I happily cleaned my floor (and the bottom of my house shoes), wash my pans and dishes, and now sat down with nice cup of tea. Trida can you tell me does the coconut cream make it have a sweet taste?

    • @tritri444
      @tritri444 3 года назад +2

      @@soniakach2980 so sorry that I didn’t see this sooner! I’m not sure if you’re still curious about this or not, but I don’t find that it adds more sweetness (aside from the cane sugar in the broth) but it does add a richness in flavour, if that makes sense

    Looks a lot like Burmese khow suey, which is very popular in my country, India. I'm sure fried garlic and onions would go well as a garnish, as would a sprinkle of chopped green spring onions and coriander leaves!

    Layer upon layer of flavors! This is what I’ve been missing in my meals for many years. Even though I have the necessary blender to make cashew cream I am glad that you used coconut cream in the recipe. I will make this soon. In the meantime, attempting to clean AND organize my small kitchen to emulate yours. Hah!!!

    I finally tried to make this recipe after drooling over it for over a year, haha! I didn't have the veggies or the white sesame paste or the chili threads, but I used miso paste and coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and it was still amazing. Thank you for the beautiful recipe and the constant inspiration! 🤗🫶
