The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.
The telethon was created to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is leading the fight against muscular dystrophy. MDA dedicates itself to strength, independence and life. To learn more about MDA and to donate, please visit www.MDA.org.

Dionne Warwick is one of the most skilled vocalists of all time, she’s underrated coz she doesn’t scream and force vocal gymnastics...but I’m telling you, nobody from the 60s, 70s, 80s touch her vocally ...she is that great. She makes sure she doesn’t rush a song, she doesn’t get excited to sing high notes like most vocally gifted singers, the mistake most vocally gifted singers make us rushing to sing high notes and forgetting to respect the low notes as well and that’s what makes Dionne stand out from the Arethas and Pattis of the world. That’s why her recordings are timeless and we’re always hits ...she served simplicity to records, that is why it’s easy to listen to her old songs even today ...TIMELESS. ORIGINAL. UNIQUE.

My all time favorite singer. After 30 years of seeing her live my now late friend Mary Wilson called Dionne who agreed to meet me after a show. I gave her a review of that show from 30 years ago. She was so kind. I took a picture with Dionne that now hangs framed in my dressing room at home. :-) G!

She brought the house down with this powerhouse medley. It just keeps building. A seasoned pro in full effect. This still thrills today. No need for provocative staging, skimpy outfits and pyrotechnics. Just great songs, big talent and presence, strong arrangements, a hot orchestra and BAM!!!! Good stuff like this stands the test of time and outlasts fads, trends.

What a brilliant performance by a brilliant performer singing the brilliant songs of Burt & Hal (with the exception of Then Came You). Burt is god. Jerry gave his heart and soul to MDA and I can't figure out why they treated him the way they did at the end. I hope that one day the real story will be written.

Stephen Lorigan I have watched this over and over to figure that out. I think it may have something to do with the mic at she's using. I think he makes some sort of remark about it as she exits the stage too. She doesn't seem phased about it though lol.
