Wolf Trap is one of the most beautiful of those typical outdoor summer venues with a pavilion and then a grassy hill for spreading a blanket. It’s actually in Vienna, VA, not Arlington, and it’s interesting that this was broadcast on German Satellite TV. Dionne has always been hugely popular in Europe (and Japan!) ‘Getting In My Way’ and ‘All In Love Is Fair’ take on special meaning as Dionne had separated from her husband (Bill Elliott) only a couple of months before this performance. They would go on to divorce (for the second time) at the end of that year.
This is when her career was in decline. The only hit she had in the '70s, until late '79, was the Spinners duet, "Then Came You." Guess that's why she sings a lot of cover songs in this show and a lot of others nobody's ever heard. Fortunately, she came back with a bang in '79 with her Barry Manilow-produced Arista album, "Dionne" ... this carried her thru' to the mid-80s and produced several more hit records.
Os álbuns da segunda metade dos anos 70 são excelentes , as músicas só não foram tão populares pq a Warner divulgou muito pouco . Mas principalmente "Just Being Miself" 73 , "Track Of The Cat" 75 e "Love First Sight" 78 são excelentes pura perfeição.
