      I know this is a late reply, but just in case, you would need to wiggle it out as you pull. You can do it by hand if you have a good grip. You can also use some plastic tool to pull on each side alternatively til it loosens and comes out. Don't be afraid, but just don't pull hard.

    • @AskaComputerGeek
      @AskaComputerGeek  3 года назад +4

      Yes there is no issue with this - that is how they are designed! The only issue with using a laptop while charging is basically if you ALWAYS have it plugged in and just use it in the same place on your desk everyday then you will be degrading the battery without actually making use of the battery. The only way around this is to remove the laptop battery completely but this isn't usually a practical solution.

    I have a worry. If you buy now a laptop (modern, with internal battery) - can you find replacement battery 100% compatible ? (These batteries most probably have different specs + dimensions + maybe attached circuit)
    Now + what about in 5 years? (I'm assuming battery will degrade quite a bit & you might want to replace it). How would you tackle this? Do Lenovo or X producer offer this service or can they sell just this component?
    Or solution is AliExpress or equivalent chinese site ?

      I think mine is bloated too cuz there's a very slight bulge on my keyboard near my spacebar. It's also about 3 years old and been plugged in most of the time. A google search and this video said it should run without a battery so I will have to do that for now since it's not a good idea to continue using bloated batteries. You just need to often save stuff like documents you're working on in case of power surges or outages. I also read that some components can get damaged without a battery but I forget how.

      Well, let me take a guess on how that may happen... this might be the same thing as on a power bank I own... it's able to deliver about 2 amps as long as it's not being charged, but while it's being charged, it reduces the current going out. If the laptop does the same thing, this means it will try to use less power while plugged in in order to save some of the power to charge its battery, or in order not to produce too much heat... and if badly designed, it will even do this if the battery's already fully charged (like my power bank does it as well).

I did an internal diagnostic which said the battery should be replaced (have had my laptop for nearly 3 years now). My new laptop battery has arrived - are you able to provide guidance on caring for the new battery to make it last longer? Should it be fully charged first before use? and then fully drained of charge each time before plugging in the charger?
