The best deal of my life was paying an attorney 20 percent for working my claim. Took it all the way to bva. I think there is too much at stake to rely on non professionals. I would have paid more and still called it a bargain.
I talked with my VSO yesterday about a situation with my windowed sister inlaw. My brother died 2 months before the passage of the PACT ACT. He served in both Viet Nam and Thailand and had a assumptive condition that killed him. He had to fight to get a 30% disability. She gets a DIC monthly at a reduced amount. According to Jason at VAtap she can modify his death certificate to claim 100% post humously. The VSO refuted this. I don't know who to believe. 😢
I hired a VSO. But! I did my research and fed my VSO all the extra documents I knew I needed for a successful claim. Buddy letters, etc. The VSO was able to get my service record, military medical records. But, after that I had to feed her the rest.
You May as Well get a Lawyer, do yourself a good One, VSO & Accredited Reps just don't get the job Done. Period! Stop being Cheap, nothing from nothing Leaves nothing, Period!
@ralphmatthews860 Uhm ... I was successful! I won 100% P&T with no future exams. The VSO is simply a tool. You have to do the research & feed that VSO the things they won't suggest. Buddy letters, civilian records, etc. Why was I cheap? I did my research. I did the WORK. I had an amazing C&P examiner. 9 months later, I received my award letter. Done. No need for an attorney or the FEES I would have paid them.
I have been insides 100s of nursing homes as a Paramedic. I would NEVER be put in a nursing home. I would end it.
