I just ordered a helix 5 and plan on taking it out on Bay de Noc this weekend. This is the best video I have seen on it. Thanks man, I'm excited to get this thing out on the ice.
I use a helix 5 for ice fishing works great. Flasher mode has great resolution / target separation. Just figure out a way to keep the transducer level in the hole.
I look forward to your video. The very best in all production techniques. Please continue the good work. End of November here and hoping to see your videos for 2018-19. Thank you.
Watched 3 of your videos in the last hour...great work, easy to understand and great footage. One question , why do you not drill a hole next to your other hole for the Transducer?
Great video. I'm setting up the same rig and wanted to know what battery you recommend. I see many in the 6Ah to 9Ah range but I'm not sure which one to get.
I highly recommend the Dakota Lithium 12 v 10 ah lithium battery. It weighs half that of sealed lead acid, last longer on each charge (14-18 hrs depending on temp), and has twice the cycles of a lead acid. dakotalithium.com/product/dakota-lithium-12v-10ah-battery/
Do you happen to know if the traditional so ar view like you have is on the Helix Ice 5? All the photos/reviews I just see the flasher and a different graph mode. Like the tradition mode you have vs the ice model. Purchasing soon. Thanks
I have the Helix 5 G2 Chirp and can't get it to go into Ice fishing mode. It'll say its on but none of the features work, and it doesn't reboot and go into Ice mode like I've seen on so many videos ..not sure what to do? It may be a defective unit?
I just bought a helix 5 and was wondering if anyone knows the difference between a ice transducer and the one that it comes with. Can you use the one it comes with on the ice or do I need to buy the ice transducer?
You should really invest in the ice transducer. It has a narrower cone and is more powerful. You'll be able to better detect your lure and fish. amzn.to/33BfPF9
Hi Spilt...The transducer that come with the Helix will not work for ice fishing correct? So much did the transducer cost for the ice fishing?...Thanks

Gitem!!!
Its been 3 years, how do you like it? Im researching options for this winter, i cant wait for ice to get on
Nice job showing how to use the Helix in a live situation! Thanks!!!!
Awesome video! Loved watching the graph as you actually hooked fish.
Really like your videos. Super informative and great. I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos. Thanks for posting and sharing.

I've been thinking about getting the Helix 5, I think you sold me. The 2D mode with the A-scope looks amazing.
Thank you for the video. I have a Ice45 right now, but I'm thinking of getting a Helix 5. Your video helped a lot. Looks like a great unit.
The Helix 5 is a great investment. You'll be very happy
Been thinking about one of these but haven’t pulled the trigger. I think I’m sold

Great watching us catch some beautiful rainbows

I almost always do when fishing with Panoptix but with a traditional ice transducer I usually just do one and pull it each time I hook up.
Great video! I subbed this afternoon in your video preparing the Helix for ice fishing.
Great video! I just converted my helix 5 for ice, trying it out tomorrow. What are you using for lure and bait for those rainbows?
Rapala Jigging Shad Rap. Good luck tomorrow.

@@spiltmilt Thanks for the information!
I think a collaboration with you and Aaron Weibe from Uncut Angling would be amazing
I like his stuff a lot. I really do need to do more collaborations.
Indeed - an excellent and intel. - infused video! Well done!
Great informative video! Plan on getting same unit for my sun dolphin
Great video.....I am converting my Helix 7 for ice fishing. How long can I expect the battery charge to last

Yes it is. Now if yow want GPS make sure it says GPS.
I have a humminbird helix 7 chirp mega si gps g3 echo sounder. Can I use it as in the video? Do I need to buy a case and a winter sensor only?
Yes a carrying case and a ice fishing transducer are all u need
When ur on the graph turn your chart speed up otherwise the time between the fish coming in and where ur lure is is delayed

What version of the software r u running?
@@spiltmilt not sure, I'll have a look and see if I can figure that out? I bought the unit in 2018
@@spiltmilt I did the latest software update and it fixed everything..Thanks
Sweet Video, just subbed
Two holes one for the ducer one for the line....

You could use the original transducer but you'll need to find a way to keep it level when you lower it.
Any units out there that can do side imaging in my boat in open water but can do ice in the winter with the flasher screen?
Any of the SI Helix series can be used for ice fishing. All you would need to do is buy a different transducer for ice fishing.
moop1981 I have the helix 5 with side image and works well if the ice transducer is installed
Hey split what do you like better the flasher or traditional?
Traditional
I guess I don't understand your comment at the end "thats my limit of five so I'm done", I never saw you keep a fish?
In Washington state any fish caught using bait contributes to your limit.
what that's crazy so if u hike deep into the woods catch 5 fish in 10 minutes(using live bait) and dont keep any ur done for the day I'm confused
what lure are you using
I'm guessing, back side of Rat lake?
Are you running clear mode or max mode on 2D?
Max Mode
