- Bought a new Humminbird Helix 5? Here are some helpful hints on how to set it up for ease of use and to get a great image from the unit. In this video we touch on page setup and using the Sensitivity, contrast and sharpness to get you the best picture.

How do I get to the alarm to access the shallow water alarm?
I wish there was a way to lock in your settings so that you can keep them instead of going through this every time you turn off your finder

After I make all my setting adjustments and power the unit down, the next time I turn it on the settings have not been saved. What’s going on?
Most likely doesn't have a internal battery memory...

So even tho you set the settings like you like, but when you shut it down, you have to do it all over again when you want to use it again, anyway there is a way to save settings
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

What is the minimum distance from the prop you can mount the transducer
15 inches is what’s recommended minimum.
Also placement of the transducer place matters.
Make sure it’s flush with the bottom of the boat so you don’t get a rooster 🐓 tail while on the water.

Hi. so the fish finder has been installed for some time now. I have one issue with this unit. sometimes when reading the bottom, example at 400 feet, it gets lost and then starts reading 0' or say 4', which of coarse is an error. I have to then power of then power on again to reset the unit to start reading properly again. and this may happen several times. Its very annoying. any idea why this may be happening?

just got my unit and still learning, but yesterday was the 1st day i used it and it was saying 70-80ft of water where ever i went n i know never got over 10ft of water
lane moore you will have to find the water offset on your menu and adjust from there. Also depends on how it is mounted on your boat! Tight lines !!!!

Guys, i have Helix 5 SI GPS COMBO, and in settings i dont have option for Unit -Temperature and i cant change Unit depth from feets to meters? Does anyone know why i dont have some options?
can only choose metric if it's the international model. I'm in Canada and would like the same, but can't.
Hello I have a question, my helix 5 works great but one problem my depth is not reading right . I can be in 21ft of water but it will say 10 feet what do I do?
