Absolutely appreciate your taking the time to share your impressions of the equipment you’re using. That stuff isn’t cheap so, before dropping the cash, having informed opinions and unbiased, practical advice is really helpful.
Thanks for posting this review. Seems a lot of us will never be able to justify a purchase such as this, but, if fortunate enough, thanks to you we will have the info as far as pros and cons.
Wouldn’t you think that basic is best i watch everything you do and I respect that you have the balls to get out and do what you do i run a helix 5 ice package and keep up what you got going on jay cheers
Great video. Some day I'll be able to get one. Last year a couple guys were just checking their unit out on the ice and they let me watch. The guy with the unit was directing his buddy who had the auger over a school of suspended crappies. Each time he drilled a hole over the crappies they would immediately move away from where he was drilling. Cool to watch the crappies reaction to the auger.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
certainly hope all this new competition for live scopes brings prices down a bit cuz that's what I'm expecting, but I guess you never know. Always love the first impression videos
Jay, can you please do a video fishing for Lakers in 70+ feet of water? I find it hard to find my hook in those depths with livescope. Would like to see how it compares!
I paid 2k for my boat, motor and trailer 😂 like you said, when the price comes down in 4-5 years I’ll probably get one. That said, video was very enjoyable 👍
While I am a fan of hummingbird loved my helex 7 but after getting the garmin echomap and live scope I see no reason to switch, this is not an upgrade from my lv32
Jay like your fishing gear reviews, here is one personally I am interested in before making a purchase is how well do the ice fishing jackets and bibs really float? If you are up to a cold water dip to test these it would be interesting to see the results. 🥶
What arm did you mount the transducer to ? I'm looking at summits equipments website and there's only one for Active Target or Livescope? Can you mount the mega live on the active target arm? Thanks.
Im a humminbird fan... lakemaster has the best maps by far in wisconsin... but i was really hoping mega live would give garmin a run for its money... garmin just still seems like the goat by far!
I have the same issue with my mega 360 of it saying out of water when going back into a hole when hole hopping, I found that ice builds up on the 2 small metal sensors on the transducer so you just have to put your finger on them to melt the ice and good to go. Appears that transducer has the same sensors
Ok unit, but looks like Garmin has it beat still. I think its almost a necessity to have touch screen with any live product and you have to get the much bigger and expensive models with Humminbird to have that.
I'm guessing he thought of that but I think he's comparing plug n play! Because who wants to buy something badass and have to put some jank ass black tape on it? It will just look hicked out!!
Great content Jay and informative. I’ll never be able to afford those particular Fishfinders can you do a comparison on lower models hand held I know you did a Garmin could you compare it to Hawkeye 1C
Hey Jay. Would love to know what your thoughts are with it after running it more through the season. Or maybe you didn't run it much more given your feedback on the side by side with the other brands. I appreciate any feedback you can give.
@@JaySiemens Thanks man! Trying to decide what route to go. I have been really happy with my Humminbird Helix, but Garmin seems to be the leader for live imaging.
Love your content and presentation style. Have you tried any of the live views in 60-110’ of water? That is the depth we jig lakers in the summer and was wondering how live view would work. We use the 2d sonar right now. Thanks and looking forward to your new ice season season vids
I wanted this over the garmin but when you did your test with the 3... sooooooooo much interfere when other units are near it, just like when you put a vex near a humminbird
Hey man is there a possibily that you show how you plug the power cable on the mega live on your battery ? Thanks a lot!! Just receive mine but im block there..
Great job pumping out so many videos so early in the season dude, we appreciate your hard work to get us viewers fresh content. Cheers
I’m all for these kinds of videos. Much appreciated for putting in the money and time so we get a better idea about the options out there
Just bought a garmin 1222 livescope bundle after watching this. Thanks!

@@silverback7659 I hope so! The technology is so cool. The images remind me of the movie Predator. But I hope you're right...
I'm watching this for purchasing reasons...so yes I like these type of videos.
I can't wait for the direct comparison video. I'm hoping it will help me decide which unit to purchase. No pressure Jay!
awesome imitation of Alex setting the hook....lol
Most people came for the reaction to the Megalive, and that was cool... But I love Jay's reaction to losing a fish 😂😂
Just bought a HumminBird helix 7 G3N MEGA SI. I super stoked to try it out.
Wouldn’t you think that basic is best i watch everything you do and I respect that you have the balls to get out and do what you do i run a helix 5 ice package and keep up what you got going on jay cheers
Can't wait to see the comparison of all 3. Thank you for doing these videos!
Next Video will be 100K subscribers! Congrats. I'm proud to say that I was very early on your fun trip. Thank you.

Love the product reviews
Good info, good content, thanks man!
Great video, love the gear related videos. Helps us out a lot IMO. Would watch as many as you could produce on many items. Keep them coming !
Love these videos Jay. And, your gear reviews are always excellent.
Really like the review and comparison video of gear. Saves me a lot of time and money in trial and error!
Solid video, really enjoy these types of videos 💯👍
Looking forward to the 3x side comparisons. Thank you, Jay!
Anxious to see how it performs in deeper water.
Excellent video as always. 👍👍👍
Great review, Jay!
Awesome video, appreciate the first impressions and review on the ice!

great review Jay! i've been looking at getting one !
Garmin has that “persistence” mode too... just called something else
It is the "trails" setting on Garmin.
While I am a fan of hummingbird loved my helex 7 but after getting the garmin echomap and live scope I see no reason to switch, this is not an upgrade from my lv32
lots of fish action it looked like!

Ive been watching your videos and you honestly look like the guy at my tackle shop he used to work there
what mount did you use for the mage live on the summit fishing pole?
What arm did you mount the transducer to ? I'm looking at summits equipments website and there's only one for Active Target or Livescope? Can you mount the mega live on the active target arm? Thanks.
nice looking to get one too mainly since no black box might be easier to hole hop.
Great video Jay, so far I love the new MegaLive and the fears after the initial iCast footage are (fortunately) easy to dismiss ✌️ -Sean
Thanks man! and yes I agree, they didn't release the best footage..
would like to see you ,clay and aaron in ice fishing tournament i seen the summer one awesome stay safe
Love the video JAY111
Great video!
I don't see that mega live ice pole listed for the on the summit site. Would any of the others work?

Wowwww keren alat pendukung mancing nya
Let's fricking go
Love your videos and product reviews. Can I get a link to the summit pole and does it work with the older panoptix 73. Keep on keepin on! Tight line
What I would be interested in would be the weight difference between the 3 with hummingbird not using the box.
I'll be interested with the side by side video of all three. Jay do you prefer downview or forward view when you are just fishing. not searching.
Great vid!! Try using electrical tape to wrap the two cables together for protection and ice up. Keep the great content coming please!!
I'm guessing he thought of that but I think he's comparing plug n play!

What pole setup is that you are using on the mega live ducer?
Can’t wait to hit the ice with that transducer myself.
Thoughts on the mega 360 for ice?
Awesome video. Just hook set ya

Hey, I sold my mega live about a month after getting it. Stuck with garmin for live imaging.
@@JaySiemens Thanks man! Trying to decide what route to go. I have been really happy with my Humminbird Helix, but Garmin seems to be the leader for live imaging.
Do you know if you can use a humminbird Solix unit for ice fishing with the mega live?
Great!
Wouldn’t perspective mode be upside down with that mount? Does it still work like that?
🔥🔥🔥
Thank you sir! So what would you prefer the Hummingbird or Garmin?
Awesome thanks for the video! Any idea when summit will have the mega live ice transducer pole on their website?
Can you get a depth range by scanning through clear ice like the old style ice transducers can do?
Jays, thanks for the review. I'll stick with garmin
Does that transducer not fit in a 6" hole because it appears that way.

Great video as usual, what is the best way to buy your catch and cook in the US states?
Would a 9” fit in that case?
can this be put on a boat as well?
Jay, did Humminbird discount the price or provide you with this unit for free?
আমাদের এখানে বরফ পড়লে আমরাও এভাবে মাছ শিকার করতাম ☺️😋
Did you happen to weigh the kit Jay ??
Does it not have fwd view?
I don't mind the review videos and side by sides, but I prefer more fishing and quick overview of what your using.
That's what Jay prefers as well but there have been a ton of requests for this. Loving the brook trout videos though. Cant wait for ice!
Do one on a Garmin 73cv with a gt10hn-if ice fishing bundle
What case is that?
I HAVE ICE YESSS
I have the megalive and still having problems using it
Not recognizing that it’s in the water would drive me up the wall and back down the other side. Garmin will keep getting my money 💰
It would be nice to know about price points.
