Thanks Pokey's for recording and sharing!! Some very valuable info on Mega Live. Darrin knows his products extremely well and Pokey's sell nothing but Humminbird and Min kotta. They even do installs!!
Great video, just got my unit, can hardly wait to get to the water with it. One question, I like the transducer pole, haven’t seen one like that, is it custom built or can it be purchased?
So I have an Ethernet cable running from my trolling motor for the ipilot gps sysem. How do I run the cables to the box. I have a helix 10 mdi gps g3n Cho.
In regard to interference, I have two Interstate batteries (24V) for my trolling motor. I'm looking to add a Tracker Lithium deep cycle battery to my graphs and SI, and eventually Target Lock. Will the two different style batteries create any interference or any other issues to performance? Thank you!!
Hey Doug, are you looking to run your sonars off a dedicated lithium? You shouldn’t have any issues having your motors running off the interstates and the sonars off their own lithium.
Great video with lots of information! When in down and forward mode, how do I know what the cone angles are? And in down mode does the cone run down and into a circle or is it reading side to side?
The coverage is a like a slice through the water instead of circular coverage like traditional sonar beams. As for down, forward and landscape mode those are achieved by changing the transducer orientation. There should be a good bit of information on the different positions in your instructions.
I fish for musky, and have questions about the transducer. Im looking to purchase a Ultrex Quest with Mega Live. I will have a 9" Helix on the bow, and a 7" at the console. With the transducer on the trolling motor, dont you get a bunch of zig zag of the imaging as your TM navigates along the shore line? Or mounting the transducer on the boat a better option, to get a fixed image? Im really not interested in mounting to the side bar/bracket that you can attach to the side of the boat, looking for something more permanent, that is not effected by the TM. Thanks for any info!
One option for your Ultrex mount if you wanted to have the Mega Live on the motor a good option would the Target Lock system which mounts onto The Ultrex but allows for independent control of the direction of the Mega Live Transducer
I clearly need to do some more research on this but sounds exactly what I'm looking for. Is the target lock system similar to the mega 360?, with that big rod mounting to the TM? or is just the transducer to the TM? I'm trying to avoid all that extra clutter up forward on my TM, that I would get with the 360 mounting. Thanks for your quick reply, I really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@@pokeystackleshop
We have a Helix 12 MSI+ G4N. Is there any way to take Mega Live Recordings off SD Card and convert the video to a Windows file to post. I think that would be better than standing in front of the Helix unit recording with glare or whatever else. We plan to use Mega Live while trolling and anchor fishing for salmon. Also searching for where they are traveling and then move to them.
The record option is currently only available for playback on the unit. It can’t be exported for computer playback due to the video format. At this time it’s unknown if they plan to make this a possibility in the future.
@@pokeystackleshop Someone with an older model has a video out port and can play to computer. Not an option except Aspec Humminbird models that have a HDMI port.
@@pokeystackleshop The Apex Fish Finders are over priced for most people so only those that can afford them have them. I wanted a Solix unit but way too much so I got the Helix 12 MSI+ G4N. That was a lot of money plus I spent a whole lot more for Y cables and Sonar and later a second Si transducer.
I had no idea there was a second red river running through Canada and Minnesota. I was thrown off trying to figure out why Northerners would travel to the Texas Oklahoma border to fish a horrible river.
They better figure out how to see the jigs ALLOT better quickly. Currently not even close to Garmin. I have clear power to my Solex and a very clear view but jigs don't show up good at all!! Now with the 1.170 update I have quite a bit of clutter I didn't have before and still not close to garmin no matter what settings I use. I've used the exact settings humminbird recommends with the update and disappointed. Please fix this problem quickly
Sorry, but Mega Live is nowhere near as good as the "other" 2 companies. I started with Mega because i uave an Ultrex and 2 Helix units. It seemed like a no-brainer to stick with Hummingbird. Meanwhile, my buddy decided to go with Garmin, and the differences are laughable. The Garmin detail is heads and tails above Hummingbird as of right now, October 2023. As a Hummingbird user, I really want them to be as good or better, and maybe they will eventually, but right now, it's not even close.
Your presentation would be much more watchable if you did end so many of your statements with "Right?". Your frequent interjections are distracting because it is as if you are asking a question (whether you are right) but of course you are telling me. Reminds my of how inarticulate kids constantly say "like" inappropriately. I think people develop this habit unconsciously, but IMO it is worth the conscious effort to avoid, RIGHT?

Great info! And well presented too!
Great information f. Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
What do you adjust to see your jig more clearly on my Mega Live?
What mounting pole is shown there in your video?
Can you mount the mega live transducer to a minn kota terrova trolling motor

Are your brackets still available?
Were you looking for the Mountain Man Brackets?
@@pokeystackleshop What are Mountain Man brackets? I need the one shown by you one uTube for the Terrova.
Can we have someone with expert knowledge on Humminbird come to North Texas and discus Mega systems?? we don't ice fish here.
Hey John we are in the works of doing another Mega Live video with Target Lock and all the new settings in the coming weeks

Correct the Apex units you would be able to duplicate the picture of the Mega Live with the HDMI out

I 100% agree
Thanks for putting yourself out there but very little useful information on actual settings. Literally a 3 second slide from Humminbird. 😢
