    The upper range in the fender rhodes is the one of the most sweetest sounding things I have ever heard. It sounds like an old music box.

    I was raised listening to Supertramp so naturally I prefer the Wurlitzer, but the Rhodes is such a wonderful instrument too. What I especially love about the Wurly is the fact that it growls when you strike the note harder. But whenever I hear a Rhodes it immediately makes me think of Pink Floyd's Sheep, what a tune! Great back to back demo, Thanks!

  • @Medium_Johnson

    The Wurlitzer is better suited for a lead instrument...something that is played up front in the way Supertramp played theirs. It has more of a bite to its sound and cuts through the rest of the instruments. The Rhodes is more of a layered background instrument...and adds more soft textures to the music; much better as a background instrument instead of a lead.

      +Loo Rhodes Supertramp made the best use out of a Wurlitzer it has a slightly fatter sound than a Fender Rhodes and more responsive when you hit the keys really hard. I like the Fender Rhodes because of its distinct bell type noise when played normally its just an instrument that blends in nicely in a song its not overly powerful like the Wurlitzer is. Id love to hear these 2 played together if they could be midi'd.

  • @barrabasi
    @barrabasi 10 лет назад +9

    Well. I've had both pianos and, personally, find that the Wurly's thinner but sharper sound is more suitable for playing chords and rythmic parts, while the Rhodes's richer and beefier character lends itself better for leads and soloing. However, I must admit that the Wurly's smooth action and response makes it a delight to play. The Rhodes, on the other hand, is much harder to master and you just can't get the music dynamics as easily as on a Wurly. This gives the Rhodes certain element of "frustration", one that even those Rhodes patches found on synths and digital emultators try to replicate. Cheers

    • @RHODESLOO
      @RHODESLOO  10 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the comments. I agree my Wurli has the best fast action possible, better than synths.About dynamics it is what you said plus it depends on the technician that voices them sometimes in order to get the "bark" out of them .
