Here are my two Rhodes babies Mark I & II .
I really don't like you cause you have a Wurli and a Rhodes and can play well too! - Yours hatefully, The Grinch.
Both are amazing instruments. You are blessed to have both in the same room!
Thank you Joseph.
Good condition!
i love what you play on these
How do you turn on a wurlitzer 200a
Under the keybed on the left there are two jacks ( headphones and output) and a switch on- off .
to me, the wurlitzer will always have more of a funk/jazz sound and more of a bite, while the rhodes feels quieter and more like the background of jazz comps/ballads. both are amazing and very versatile, though, and you play them so well!
Thank you very much for your nice comments. I am still learning and that will go on all my life .I am not that good. These instruments have soul and personality .Like a Cadillac car .It is big and seems uncomfortable but as you drive it and you feel the engine roar and smell the gas you know that you are the king of the road ...
Oh! I love the wurli custom color! Can you send me the color and type of the painting please? It looks like metallic purple-blue, but with the recording/illumination I maybe wrong. I let you my mail if you want to send me pics or more detailed info. Many thanks in advance for it. :)
Thank you First you buy a deep blue color and mix some tiny flakes if you want sparkles in it. Go to a car's garage paint and ask to spread it and paint the cover just like theqy do with a car.
Pat Metheny tunes!
Close enough !
That might be the best sounding Rhodes I've heard in any RUclips video/demo yet. It just sings with so much character. Your playing is great too bravo!
Thank you so much Collin.Although it is not considered the typical Rhodes due to its felt hammers that give a smooth vibe like sound i can ensure you that is just a pleasure to feel and hear it closely.
@@RHODESLOO which Rhodes model is it?
@@nathanieltyghe4526 Rhodes Silver top or Silver sparkle 1966 model .Felt hammers like the real piano so the attack when you hit the key produces a more smooth sound.
@@RHODESLOO which is the softest sounding rhodes? It's a very nice sound btw
@@nathanieltyghe4526 The older the better and ...more expensive too ! I would say the Silver top due to the felt hammers sounding more soft .But they cost a fortune normally...and they are very rare too.The later rhodes have neoprene tips on the hammer and they "bite" more and having attack .Early '70s Rhodes can sound preety close to a Silver top too and you can find them more easily , but condition matter if they need upgrade.
Happy new year and thank you so much.I am not consider my self a decent player or good. All we have to enjoy first music - no matter what we know and play.
Excellent demonstration! I own both too, but can't play either as well as you!
I sold my Rhodes and got a seen foot grand, if I would have kept the Rhodes I would be happier and about thirty thousand dollars richer!!!
Oof, ruff.
I could listen to this all night.
Thank you.Veyr kind of you.Maybe in Christmas night then!
@@RHODESLOO You should record some christmas tunes!
Όμορφο ❤️🎶🎵 ...τι τίτλος είναι αυτός Λουκά;

Nowadays, you can find both of those pianos in built in digital keyboards. For instance, there is a keyboard that I am planning to buy which is the Casio CTX 5000. It has lots and lots of electric pianos including these. Except there’s a difference. You only have ep1 , e p2, ep3, 4, 5, and 6. It even has the electric 60s piano.
I can see your point. But in the end there isnot such a thing than " riding " an old real instrument .
Do they even have vintage Wurlitzers or Rhodes pianos around anymore? That would be cool. But for some reason, I do like the electric pianos on the keyboards.Loo Rhodes
@@kayandaeddings4803 The company "Vintage vibes piano" produces the best tine electric pianos. Check then out.Original companies don t produce them anymore.Keyboard sounds are preety amazing too.
Where are the controls on the Rhodes? Is it on a Midi app on a PC or under the top cover or something?
No midi at all. This is a 1966 model.Only volume treble bass and vibrato. The knobs are on the left
When I hear those sounds, it looks like the auditory nerves are connected straight to the heart, so mellow, so sweet
Thank you so much .
I think the Wurlitzer sounds better lower down and the Rhodes sounds better higher up.
They both sound sweet
That stupid output on the front panel with the cord running over the keys is enough to make me not want to buy a Rhodes.
L shaped input jack and problem solved
something about the wurly i always gravitate towards over rhodes. love them both though!
Wurly has something cute & warm, rhodes is more spread out/spacious
Are these two hammer Keys ?
They are real wooden keys so the action is realistic in any way(touch and dynamics).
Love the bark of the Wurli
Get a better microphone!
True but it was from the camera.
Great playing. Can't get enough listening to people play these things. If you've never heard the Booker T version, check it out. It grooves hard.
Thqnk you so much.I just love all these grooves.
That cellphone video compression tho
thanks so much for the video. great side by side comparison
Thanks. Man.
gorgeous
Thanks.It is indeed.
I teach a class in video editing. How would you feel about the students using clips of your work (with proper credit, of course) as an underscore?
Hi.Thanks for the interest.Pm me for few mor detais please.
disin it for audio quality
Fender Rhoades has a more dreamy echoey vibe.
I agree.Very true.
Perfect combination, with the celesta and the keyboard glockenspiel.
Wurli and Hohner pianet T..
my 1974 fender rhodes will blow this silver top away! sorry lad!
Maybe.I had one 1974 .The silver top had different structure. so forth different sound. When it comes to tsste.....Thanks qnyway.
You ard a lucky guy my friend. It sound really really amazing :')
A midnight blue Wurlitzer 200A? That’s a new one on me. They both sound marvelous, as does your playing. Forgive me if you get this question often. Are you related to the late great Harold Rhodes?
ShreadTheWeapon Thanks for you kind comment.Yes the blue color was made by me in a garage paint shop. Its a custom one.
Anytime, Loo Rhodes. I think I just noticed that the front panel of your silver top is made of highly reflective, stainless steel. The Rhodes builders must’ve used that briefly and abandoned it.
ShreadTheWeapon Yes that was all steel as well as the logo which later became plastic. For me sparkle tops were the most goog looking ones!
Wurlitzer 👏
Cool which make/model of amps are each playing through? Can't quite read the lettering on the Fender amp; is the Wurli also playing out the Fender amp?
Ryan Cassidy Thanks for the comment.Rhodes is playing through its speakers 4x12 inches by Fender beneath the keyboard. The lettering on the amp writes Fender Rhodes makers of fine keyboard instruments.Wurlitzer is playing through its 8inches speakers on the left and right.
both sound so great! however i think the rhodes sustain could pose some issues and make some chords clash with eachother? sounds great for arpeggios tho! wurlitzer has a more clearer distinct sound imo.i think the rhodes might sound better in a demo like this. but i think the wurly might sound better in a real band recording.
qwertyuiop asdfghjkl. Thanks for the comment. You are so right.Wurly has more presense in a band but early Rhodes like this had mellow sound due to the piano soft hammers .Later Rhodes became more barkish due to the new neoptine hammertips.
So would it be fair to say it's similar to the comparison between a trumpet and a flugelhorn
Came here because I heard The Black Crowes remedy and love that section 2/3rds through the song. I now think it is a wurly
TommyTwobats. Thanks.I didnt even know that wong.
Its a hard choice to decide better so im gonna make it easier by saying i like both.
the wurlitzer has by FAR the better sound. the rhodes has a janky superficial sound.jam it up your ass and just play the wurli.
Thanks for the comment Mike.I love both of then depending on what is my music purpose.Happy new year to everyone.
Both instruments sound amazing.
But put the Wurly up next to a late '71 Fender Rhodes.
Free Breeze If i do this the Rhodes will sound more distinctive and "bite"
Your sparkle top sounds amazing. You make it sing. A late '71 is the pinnacle of Rhodes tone.
Free Breeze Thanks a lot ! It was so hard to adjust it .It is a 50+ years old piano...Offenly needed to be tuned again,.but it is fantastic to play it...
Wurlitzer.
damn never heard anything like this before#slay
öyeah word up
Thank you! It is just the way i feel the song.
Now lemme convert this.
I like the sound of the Rhodes better. I owned one, and it was produced what a decade before the Wurlitzer? Fender is the original. Better low end.
Wurlitzer made the first electric piano i think on 1955 .Rhodes made the pre piano on 1946.After that we have a lot of changes and evolution on the models.Yeas the Rhodes hzs more fat and low sound due to its size and its bass tinee. Both of them are elements to enjoy pure vintage sound! Thanks for the comment.

I can’t yet really hear the difference
