HyperX SoloCast vs Razer Seiren Mini vs Blue Snowball iCE vs Fifine K669B vs Samson Q2U

- I compare some of the best selling budget microphones. The SoloCast, Seiren Mini, Snowball iCE and K669B are condenser USB microphones. The Q2U is a dynamic USB and XLR mic. All audio is unprocessed, but the volume levels were matched in post.
Also something I didn't mention was the Q2U generally sounds "closer" and cleaner because it picks up less echo from my voice and of course less computer fan noise.

You are a great channel, I’m so glad I found this channel again, it’s sad to say but I almost forgot about this channel, but you were the reason I chose the elgato I did!! Thankyou!
Very useful comparison. This video has most of the mics I've been considering buying. And having reviews from one person all in the same sound environment, and of course, with the same voice, is very useful for comparisons. It's frustrating to try and compare microphone recordings that record entirely different people with different setups. I would have liked to have the FIFINE K668 mic in this comparison, as that's the best under $25 or $20 USD microphone I have found from reviews so far. And I wanted to know how it compares to other mics that people recommend for starting as a streamer (etc.).
Edit: Found out soon after that the FIFINE K669 is basically the same as the K668, but with an added gain dial.
what did u end up going with?
@@mrjaked420 I ended up going with the Samson Q2U, and I'm very happy with it. I caught it while it was on sale for 55 USD. I chose it because it sounds very good as a USB mic, and can sound even better if I get the XLR stuff to use it for that later. The noise floor is basically non-existent, even with USB. And it is pretty successful with background noise rejection.
Though before I got the Q2U, I watched multiple reviews, and I had narrowed my choice down to the Razer Seiren Mini, the HyperX SoloCast, and the Samson Q2U, with a high degree of confidence that they would all produce good sound quality.
I think that if I couldn't get the Q2U while on sale, I would have gotten the HyperX SoloCast, because it has a touch sensor button for muting it. And it's on sale nearly all the time for 35 USD while still being of comparable sound quality to the others. The Seiren Mini is usually on sale for 40 USD and doesn't have a hardware mute button at all.
I would strongly suggest getting a full sized mic stand. For whatever mic you get. If only because they allows a lot of position adjustment and aren't physically connected to a desk which will often be bumped and thumped by hands on a keyboard.

Thanks so much for this video. Surprisingly hard to find good buying guide content on these despite very high likely demand.
Verdict: Samson Q2U
Reason: Cuts noise better!
i love your content man i cant wait for you to be big! You're forefront and honest unlike some other biased content creators! Keep up the good work!!
Thanks, it's expensive denying all brand deals and not being a shill, but I think it makes my reviews legit instead of just ads. Hoping for some good traction in quarter 4!
Which Microphone you are using?
Sry i saw it now, reazer siren elite, you are using in this video that microphone?
No, in this video I'm just switching between each one in the vid.
Thanks for this! Compared most of the mics I had considered, and was just now lucky enough to grab a Seiren Mini for approx 24$ on sale. The pink one, though... :p
Just bought the SoloCast. Thanks for the video, it helped a lot.
i spent about 10 minutes comparing the sound quality of the mics in my headphones and I thought the solocast had the best quality
First off.. you can take the Razer Seiren and throw it out the window... JUNK! I'd rather have the Logitech USB 19.00 mic over the Razer ... just saiyan.. the cords on Razer products always short out and you will end up taking it back everytime you move the mic more than 5 times...
Honestly amazing reviews man great job! But one question, what do you recommend for a couple playing games and streaming? My wife and I have our computers next to each other and we want to buy 2 microphones that won’t leak sound from each other. In other words when I speak I don’t want my voice to record in her microphone and vice versa
Samson Q2U. It isolates sound quite well. Since you're so close, it will probably be best to angle them so the backs of the mics are facing each other as well.
I made this quick demonstration for someone else who asked about noise rejection just to show how much the angle helps. ruclips.net/video/coUZKiMwMJc/видео.html.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews thanks man
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews i just saw the video but unfortunately the samson is not available where I live, however I did find the Shure SM7B, and money is no issue should I just go for the Shure? (The seller there said sound leakage should not be an issue on the Shure but I’m unsure how true his statement is)
Also what do you think of the Zoom Podtrack P4 as a mixer if we are primary recording ourselves talking?
probably a bit late but the samson q2u stand can be tightened by a screwdriver, i did that to mine and it doesnt move at all unless i force it
Love the content man! Keep up the good work. Your videos are very educational and provided everything I needed before buying them. Thanks :)
So what's it gonna be? Blue Snowball iCE or HyperX SoloCast? I'm torn.
this helped me so much thank you!! keep it up, amazing tests and informative. subbed.
i was planning on getting the shure mv7. is it worth it or should i save money and grab the samsung q2u?
I don't have the MV7 (yet), but I've listened to a lot of comparisons of it. If you're just getting started there's no need to get the MV7 imo, and if you're more advanced you'll probably be interested in going all the way with the SM7b.
But here's an excellent comparison with all three of the mentioned mics and more by podcastage: ruclips.net/video/XlT0yBOqhVY/видео.html
I was looking for this video, thanks
Bro you really compare all the GOATs of the cheap microphones!🎉
Thank you! I need to say that this is a great great great content man. Keep up the good work
hodgetwins fan i see :p , love your reviews keep it up.
i own the fifine with pop filter on it, just throw your audio in audacity after recording to remove the background noise and you're golden.
Yea man, funny af! And true, Audacity's noise reduction or even RNNoise in OBS do help a lot.
Ayyye great video my man I learned a lot, its my first time watching your videos and I like your style keep up the good work :)
you should compare the solocast and siren mini with fifine k678. k678 is the best microphone made by fifine till this date
I might
finnaly who mic win please reply. love from india
Of all of these I recommend the Samson Q2U.
I actually use the Blue Snowball ice, looking for an upgrade
I like the sound of the Samson Q2U
Hello do you think steelseries sonar could remove background noise on the k669b?
Yes, it's actually really good for that mic specifically imo.
I think you just don't have a lot of bass in your voice, I have a q2u and I had to cut some bass from my voice with eq in obs. This is a great mic and the mic clip is fine it just needs to be tightened after I did this it stays where I put it. I recommend the q2u above all other mics this comparison for content creation over all the others especially if your room isn't treated for sound. If you do choose any other mic and don't have a treated room, get them at least 6" or less from your mouth. One last thing the capsule should still be pointing at your mouth even if you're talking off axis a bit.
The problem is the only way you'd know how much bass is in my voice is if you heard it in person. The Q2U is a perfectly usable mic which is why I recommend it in this comparison, but it definitely doesn't reproduce the low end like the Shure SM58 or SM7B.
Anyone know what I can do to make my fifine not sound like garbage in discord?
which one do you recommend for the best quality?
"It's just a device!"
Exactly.
Very thorough analysis! Thank you very much for this great content! Loved the ending lol!
Brilliant comparison
ive ran the blue snowball for like 4 years and i agree, when i first got it i hated the way my voice sounded. BUT the moment i got a foam cover for it, it drastically improved. So much so that im loath to try and buy something else until it breaks. Ive thought about upgrading to a better Yeti mic but just cant pull the trigger. I mostly use my mic for discord calls, when i first got it i tried the whole youtube thing out for almost a year and the mic sounded fine for that and is clear when i stream but ive just not been impressed enough with another mic to just replace it
I use the blue yeti, sounds fantastic, had it for years now without complaint, especially when you run it through a virtual mixer and fine tune it but even out of the box was great
amazing review thanks
Great video! I'd love to hear your opinion on lavalier mics, if you haven't covered them already!
Good suggestion, I haven't looked into lavalier mics much honestly, but I should in the future.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews Awesome! Looking forward to it!
Would you recommend the razer seiren mini or the samson meteor mic?
Thanks.
Do u still use the blue raspberry mic?
No, I gave it to my dad so he could do video conferences.
isnt the samson q2u 2 times more expensive than the razer seiren mini?
Now maybe, the prices have changed since I made this video.
did you just Hodgetwins us at the end?
Hey! Dude you look like Jacob from trailer park boys
I think you mean Cory lmao
Suggest me one, I am someone who just got into streaming and practice music as a hobby.
Samson Q2U
Do you recomended fifine k658?
1:00 2:54. (this is for me)
Can someone help me with this question. Is it possible to put the Razer mini mic in one Microphone Stand that the Thread is 3/8' ? or i will need to have one Thread adapter 5/8' ?
You need an adapter. ruclips.net/video/q9cY3y42mjM/видео.html

Hyper x solocast or Fifine 669B?
Yo compraré el Hiper
Where do you record the audio?
OBS
wish you did the type test with the microphones on the boom instead of the desk
I did and had about 5x the amount of tests as this video, but it was also 5x as long so I cut most of it so the algorithm wouldn't kill the video.
Q2U is way above the rest though in that category.
@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews Thank you. My daughter wants a microphone for Christmas and I am trying to find out what to get her.
@@rav2254 No problem, I've tested a ton of mics and the Q2U is easily my #1 recommendation. Dynamic mic, sturdy build, good background noise rejection.
