Dude, absolute kudos to you for posting this round, genuinely and unedited. I was in physical pain watching this because we all know exactly how it feels. Thank you for keeping your channel authentic. You've helped my game tremendously. Absolutely love your videos and hope to make it out to one of your golf retreats.

Anything is liable to happen in golf, that’s why I love it. Very frustrating though because it’s a solo sport and you have no one to blame when things go wrong
haha thx from my mom! It's funny bc I thought the putt was missing high. My mom started celebrating 3 feet before it was in the hole and I recall thinking, "that's a lot of enthusiasm for a missed putt." Lo and behold it dropped. Maybe she sees the greens better than I do 👀
Hey man! Fellow Canadian living in Australia. You should do a lil short game tutorial. Even if you just focus on mindset over form. I've been a 10 handicap for a while now and need to clean up inside 100. Your ability to consistently get up and down is mind-boggling!

It makes me glad to know that this is what at least some golfers are like! I am a new golfer and have been watching lots of RUclips videos and there are a lot of great channels out there. Thanks Adam………Most of us are just mere mortals so we can relate for sure. On a side note, if its a handicap round, don’t be afraid to use some of the new for 2023 Golf Handicap Association new rules. For instance, when hitting a ball out of bounds you can use the GAC line (ground already covered) and place the ball anywhere along that line that the ball traveled, for a one stroke penalty.
Thanks, Scott! I'm never sure when those rules do/don't apply. I thought that was more like a USGA guideline for pace of play and each course could choose to implement it or not? I might be wrong.
Its actually a 2 stroke penalty to use this new rule. A few options for the player so they don't have to head back to the teeing ground, or wherever they shot from last. You drop, add 2 (which simulates the drop at previous location, and the following shot) and move on. Really hurts the score!
Brother this is inspiring. I just shot a really bad 103 in a tournament at yocha (I’m a 15hc) I had been playing some decent golf in the 80s till then. I play Spanish bay day after tomorrow. Shaking off that last weekend tourney blowup. It’s funny my handicap adjusted the score to a 98 on the day.

I'm a 30-plus handicap and have never broken 100. Your round is exactly how mine go. I'm very short off the tee and I can't get on the green in less than four most times. But keep up the good working and very glad you go to the Coachella Valley.
Quintero looks very challenging and I’m sure was compounded by the high wind. Congrats on breaking par on the second 18. Anxious to play, but buried in over 3 feet of snow in Minnesota, Hopefully we will see dead grass within the next month! These videos help the long wait.
Fun video! There are always lessons to be learned from a good butt whipping on a hard course, but it takes a lot of patience and resolve to get through a tough round like that. Very well done. And I love it when you play O'Donnell; I've never played in Palm Springs, but that looks like a great course with some interesting and challenging shots. Always a plus to see your parents out with you. Thanks for sharing all of it with us, Adam.
And that's why the hcp system works. If hcp was just your average score, based on these two rounds you'd be an absolute bandit off mid teens. Thanks for sharing the reality of NASG life on the course.
This is what the channel is all about, showing the good as well as the bad rounds. We all have em, way to power through and not hurl a club into the lake like I would have done 😂

I can’t imagine as a fellow single digit handicap, shooting 106… I guess if the course was tough enough under the rate conditions, maybe but you’re basically averaging double bogey golf, appreciate the humility in posting this it definitely shows that it’s possible, even for a pretty decent golfer
Been there before with my Jekyll and Hyde rounds as I call them. Often they’re within the same 18 though on the two nines. All about refocusing and wiping the slate clean. Congrats again on the career round. Looking forward to more content!
I assumed Silver tees at Quintero (because 370 yards on Hole 1 in the video). It runs 6437 yards at a tee box rating of 70.7/137. For O'Donnell, the course plays over 1000 yards shorter at 5307 and their website posts a Men's rating of 65.8/107. Ultimately, there's absolutely not 40 strokes worth of difference - but I could totally see myself playing easy at O'Donnell but having terrible issues at Quintero due to rating, slope, or yardage just opening up all of my weaknesses. Add in that the putting was off, and it's a brew for a big number!
Bang on, Joshua. I wish others understood the hc system as well when saying things like, "well yeah that course is obviously 20 strokes easier than my home track," lol!
That 66 from that one video isnt legit to me playing a course that has a double front nine or 9 holes but played twice, looked super easy also. West coast golf the ball must fly compared to the humid south

Love your videos, they are very entertaining. Since you have an established handicap index, the maximum score for each hole played is limited to a net double bogey, equal to double bogey plus any handicap strokes you are entitled to receive based on your course handicap. Otherwise these poor rounds would skew your handicap.

When you have tough rounds like that Quintero one, what's your mindset or game plan going forward? Do you watch your videos back and analyze your swing to see what went wrong and then work on it before it the next round?
Typically, when I play poorly, I try to go back and evaluate which area(s) of the game set me back the most. After this round? BURN THE TAPE!....until I have to look at it again in a few months in order to edit the video :p
Legit question about your Quintero round. You freely admitted that your driver swing was there that day, but from what I saw, you were really hitting your 5 wood well. Why not bench the driver in favor of a club you could get in the fairway more consistently and probably not lose much distance?
Good question! You know, virtually all of the time, as goes my driver, so goes my fairway wood. But you're right that in this round I was actually hitting the wood decently. Would have been a good idea to sub it in during this round.

I’ve never adjusted my scores based off my handicap. I’ve never actually had an official handicap. I’ve got myself figured at about a 18. My first round of the year was a 90 which is right on the money. Not sure what it would be if it were adjusted for handicap
How do you reset yourself before your next shot? Any tips? When my rounds go like this, I just feel myself getting more and more frustrated, making stupider and stupider decisions with each progressive shot. I feel myself getting that feeling in my chest just watching the 106 because I’ve done this myself SO many times lol
How did you recover mentally after shooting 106? I just shot 100 which is the worst round I’ve had after taking up golf again three years ago (I’m 11 hcp). How did you come back?
My game is very similar to Adams in the fact that I am a great wedge and short game player but I am also a pretty decent iron player too. However I struggle off the tee with driver with a huge left miss (I’m lefty and it’s a massive block slice) that can cause me to add up strokes very quickly. But the thing is I can hit my 3 wood 240-260 off the tee and have very little curvature on it but for some reason can’t bring myself to just leave the driver in the bag 🤣 so my question is should I just leave the driver in the bag until it gets better?
Haha that sort of happened to us on another day at Quintero. Wind kept knocking the damn tripod over and I wasn't playing well, either. Oddly enough I still carded an 80-something that day compared to the 106 here!!

It’s insanely impressive you can shoot 66 with that swing
🤙🏾😆 relatable video
Thx! Where in Hawaii are ya?

@@BAD_GolfHawaii Thanks, man! Funny timing, I'm in Maui today (first time golfing here!) but it's a quick trip - gone tomorrow. Would LOVE to come back soon!
Exactly what happened to me a quentaro 3 weeks ago. Just could hit the ball.
Have you thought about not bringing the club so far behind you? Would probably help the irons.
Adam... you're toe hooking driver pretty hard in these... You're even lining them up on the toe (see 10th tee on your 106 round!).
Yeah, my driver was a trainwreck during this trip. Got it sorted out but not before making a mockery of myself all across the state of Arizona.
Quintero is 250 a pop and the greens look like that?
What app are you using for the shot tracer?
What handicap system/ app are you using??
My game is very similar to Adams in the fact that I am a great wedge and short game player but I am also a pretty decent iron player too. However I struggle off the tee with driver with a huge left miss (I’m lefty and it’s a massive block slice) that can cause me to add up strokes very quickly. But the thing is I can hit my 3 wood 240-260 off the tee and have very little curvature on it but for some reason can’t bring myself to just leave the driver in the bag 🤣 so my question is should I just leave the driver in the bag until it gets better?
Quintero plays a lot easier in summer with no wind. I bet that winter round was brutal
You are better than me. I stopped filming and just enjoyed the day because the course was whooping me so badly lol
Haha that sort of happened to us on another day at Quintero. Wind kept knocking the damn tripod over and I wasn't playing well, either. Oddly enough I still carded an 80-something that day compared to the 106 here!!
@@NotAScratchGolfer lol now that’s wild. You actually inspired me to post my Quintero day. Spent all evening yesterday editing the footage I do have and did a voiceover. It’s dropping at 1pm Central if you feel inclined to give it a watch! You posting this reminded me why I started my channel in the first place so thanks regardless 🫱🏽🫲🏻
@@nogimmesgolf On my way out the door. Saved it for watching tn!
