As usual JC, nice work. I will say one thing I am glad you decided not to go into a life of crime and strip vehicles for a living, hate to go in the house for dinner and come out and find nothing left of a truck after you came by...lol Like I said about railroad vehicles, usually their dirty and beat up, but boy they arent afraid to spend the money to maintain em, and people are so hesitant to buy them because they look at the body and interior.... they dont look at the important places and the other nice thing is that are expensive to pick up! Good tip about pushing in the connectors and your right some of them get stuck like someone superglued em, but that all the grime and dirt etc that gets accumulated under the hood. Got to love that gradall, every time I see it getting used
some people cant see the forest for the trees! they sure spent some cash on this one. rare that i dont need to do anything to an engine before i put it in....thanks railroad!
I think to them it is just iron, use it and then move it out and replace it with the next piece of Iron. I think their expectation when they sell em is there isnt a lot of value in them cause they are usually beat on the body and the interior is filthy so they get what they can for them and good enough. But I agree a lot of value in these trucks if you willing to look past the exterior and interior
I was watching one year old the videos and it show did you put a set of I will adapters off of F250 railroad truck Do you still have the adapters so how much do you want for them
Good evening. Another excellent informative video. That R.R. truck just keeps on giving. Nice to see the conversion rebuild. Looking forward to the next update.
hey bob!! staying cool?? one of these days i am going to build something cool! thankfully i can watch you build the amazing rods you do. thanks for the videos my friend!
WOW, my TRUCK is going to look so good when you are done with it. LOL... I"M telling you Brother you make that look so easy. And yes I know you have had a lot of practice, But I"M telling you ( YOU HAVE GOT SOME SKILLS) I just wish I could have half of your KNOWLEDGE. Great VIDEO as always Mr. JC and Mrs. JC I will Talk to you Later Buddy
it only looks easy because it is! i am sure this truck is going to be a long drawn out video series. i hope to cover it from getting it running all the way through the gremlins and the final result.
My wife is a traveling nurse. She works rotating 4 days on/3 days off one week and 3 days on/4 off the following week. I take care of the exterior of her vehicle and all maintenance. I have a wall mounted shop vac with a 20' hose in the garage and interior cleaners but she just shows no interest. She does however let me know when it's "real" dirty. I work 5-6 days a week usually 10 hours a day. Trying to get her to learn.
it will probably be a long video series. it is going to cover the truck from start to finish. from engine and trans swap all the way to ironing out all the gremlins!
I’m getting ready to do a dually conversion on a 96 f250, and I’m wondering if a single wheel axle and a dually axle are related at all. Could I simply just swap the hubs and or drums?
Dane Hansen The dually axle is actually wider, imagine putting an inner dually rim on your truck...it would hit the inside of the wheelwell. Other than that the rears are pretty much the same. You can extend the tubs(wheelwells) inward some and use the axle you have (using the single wheel axle keeps the wheels from jutting out as far), or get a dually axle, either way you have to cut the outside of the fender/bed and get flares or factory dually fenders. Actually, if you're not using a factory bed (i.e. if you're gonna use a flatbed, utility bed, wrecker bed, etc) there may be room to just bolt a set of wheels on.
i am not sure who the engine was remaned by...the last truck i had from the railroad with a remanufactured engine was by ford so it could be on this one too.
So just curious,I know you made this video a year ago, but what was the advantage or reasoning behind putting a 5.4 in place of a V10? Alsodo you have to worry about emissions where you live? And lastly is there a VIN discrepancy?
5.4 is a more attractive engine in this truck. the average buyer doesnt want a v10 for a daily driver. the emissions are going to be less with a smaller displacement engine. however, the buyer wanted this truck for the clean body. he was going to put his 7.3 in it so what engine was in it didnt matter at all as it would be removed.
you obviously dont sell trucks. the 5.4 is by far a more attractive choice for resale in this truck than a v10. 5.4 will do 13-14 mpg. v10 does 9-10 mpg. less people want a v10 than would take a v8. its all about the size of the buyer pool.
No I do sell trucks. I have a 13 450 with a v-10 that I’m selling. You would almost have to get the trucks and parts free to make something like that pay off. It’s not like your gonna make 10k off a swapped truck. Doesn’t seem worth it?
that is because the only engine option for you f450 in 2013 was the 6.7 diesel or the 6.8 v10 gas. completely different buyers looking for that truck than the crew cab shortbed 4x4 in this video. if it wasnt profitable, i wouldnt do it! i dont work for free. nor do i lie to myself about how much my time is worth. when i am done with a truck it meets my minimum profit margin and covers the labor it takes to complete the work. if you watch enough of my videos, you will pick up on how and why this truck was profitable. there is a reason i buy so many of the same types of trucks. its all about efficiency.
Just curious if your ever going to do anything with the Volvo highway trk or the white topkick roll back.they just sit there taking up valuable real estate. Did u ever tell us there history. Love your vids bud
I'm working on a 2005 ford excursion with the 6.8l 2 valve v10 right now the truck that your v8 is going into can I have the v10 badging that is on the left and right side of the front fenders moving like a champ there J C
You sure know your way around those Ford Super Duty trucks, very detailed video. Nice camera work by Mrs. JC and of course what video would be complete without the GradAll doing the heavy lifting. You and Mrs. JC make a great team, nice job with the edits too. 2 thumbs up from here.
Hello! I got a question if you can answer me I will appreciate your help... I got a ford f350 4x4 5.4 (2001) manual transmission My question is: I'm planning to swap my existing motor to v10 (6.8) but this is my big question...my manual transmission will fit in the v10? The new motor came from a 2003 ford v10 and I got another truck (1999) v10...which one it will better to swap? And transmission will fit? Thanks for your videos....
I do work on powerstrokes. i have 2 6.0's and 3 6.7's that need fixed right now. i dont video every truck i work on. sometimes i just want to get it done. i am working on a 6.7 cummins right now.
Hi J.C., I'm considering purchasing a 2004, F250 w/V10. Could you please tell me if I could replace the V10 w/a 2003, or earlier, 2 valve 5.4L engine? (the truck is 4WD, and has a manual trans). Also, if I were to obtain a 2v, 5.4L out of a salvage yard for rebuild, please is it possible to increase the displacement of the engine to around 5.8L during rebuild? If so, I would assume you would have to re-program the pcm? Thanks.
I saw the 4X2 trans output shaft and was wondering if that was your plan. That's a good looking truck I'd like to find one like it for myself I think I could make a solid F250 last me my life time.
Hey jc sir please let me know what you are going to be asking for the truck I really like that body style of the 07- 06 F-250 I will try and save my money up I lost that 08 F-250 to my uncle
i wont have any idea until it is finished. when trucks sit like this one has it usually has some gremlins that need to be worked out after it is running and driving again. i have a dollar amount that i want to stay under so that i dont exceed the value of the truck.....we will see if i can stay under it.
took me 18 min 25 seconds to figure out I didn't like this video ;) sorry I thought that was funny , just a little bit anyways , keep it up and I am going to roll up with 2 trucks , toss you the keys and say make me a good one , see ya tomorrow , and you will be like it was done last night , what took you so long to get back for it ha ha ha
Quick is a matter of perspective.
Wow that's a lot of wire's I would be lost trying to figure out what they all do you are a true professional..
it is much easier than it looks. if it was difficult, i couldnt do it!
Outstanding job JC 2 hours is very fast. That's probably a weekend job for me bud....
you could do it just as fast after you did it once.
thank you detail video
damn jc its a peace a cake looking at you work whit ford you know them truck by heart your the best
they just come apart easy. anyone can do it this fast after doing it the first time
Mad work.
As usual JC, nice work. You must have a heck of a bone yard full of Ford parts trucks! Thanks for showing us the details!
maybe one or two. when i use a truck for parts i try to use everything i can. they typically are just a bare frame when i am done.
I was watching one year old the videos and it show did you put a set of I will adapters off of F250 railroad truck Do you still have the adapters so how much do you want for them
Grease the boom on the gradeall?
i have greased it and it make now different. it has wear slides.
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS 10-4 just asking if you do or not. Great videos and I enjoy your channel.
Nice! But just curious why not get another V10 to drop in there?
Great video jc
thanks tim!!
Good evening. Another excellent informative video. That R.R. truck just keeps on giving. Nice to see the conversion rebuild. Looking forward to the next update.
hopefully the next one will be removing the bed and cab from the other truck and cleaning up the frame.
Fine piece of carrying on!
hey bob!! staying cool?? one of these days i am going to build something cool! thankfully i can watch you build the amazing rods you do. thanks for the videos my friend!

it only looks easy because it is! i am sure this truck is going to be a long drawn out video series. i hope to cover it from getting it running all the way through the gremlins and the final result.
That would be so cool to check it out step by step
The Mrs. needs to make a video on how she gets the interior so clean. I'll make sure my wife watches it. As of now she has no clue.
i think she might be doing one of those soon.
Great vlog as always. Taking apart a truck seems easy
if i can do it...it must be easy!
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS Im learning something from these videos:)
Great video Mr. and Mrs, JC! I want to follow this build from start to finish, I love watching these builds!
it will probably be a long video series. it is going to cover the truck from start to finish. from engine and trans swap all the way to ironing out all the gremlins!
mr jc smith i like watching your videos i learn stuff i dont know
Great video. I wonder how many times this will be viewed beside a truck undergoing the same procedure.
hopefully it helps someone who has the same problem.
You make it look so easy
Why?
I’m getting ready to do a dually conversion on a 96 f250, and I’m wondering if a single wheel axle and a dually axle are related at all. Could I simply just swap the hubs and or drums?
the hub face measurements are different to accommodate the dual wheel.
Thank you
Dane Hansen The dually axle is actually wider, imagine putting an inner dually rim on your truck...it would hit the inside of the wheelwell.
That rebuild tag looks a lot like what we get in the UK on a Ford exchange engine so maybe it's a factory rebuilt unit...
i am not sure who the engine was remaned by...the last truck i had from the railroad with a remanufactured engine was by ford so it could be on this one too.
I've spent 2 days trying to put a serpentine belt in my 2006 6.0 liter and you stripped that entire truck down to the frame in 2 hours.
im sure if you have done this as many times as i have, you could do it even faster!
Why would you want to change to a 5.4 they are the same motor from what I’ve ever heard just the v-10 might weigh a little more and get shit MPG
you obviously dont sell trucks. the 5.4 is by far a more attractive choice for resale in this truck than a v10. 5.4 will do 13-14 mpg. v10 does 9-10 mpg. less people want a v10 than would take a v8. its all about the size of the buyer pool.

Efficiently done. I can tell that you do this for a living!
Another good one and glad to see the grad all in action again! Would you ever make a van 4x4?
i cant say i wouldnt do one but i cant say i have any interest.....right now.
weird that the f350 has the 5.4 and the f250 had the v10 i figured the v10 would be the only gas motor option on the f350
you could get the 5.4, 6.8 or the 6.0 diesel in the f250 and f350 in that year.
great video
thanks sandra!
Just curious if your ever going to do anything with the Volvo highway trk or the white topkick roll back.they just sit there taking up valuable real estate. Did u ever tell us there history. Love your vids bud
they are on the list of trucks to fix....i am only one guy and it takes a good bit of time to get to all of them. one day they will get their turn.
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS no disrespect bud.love your stuff.keep up the great work
i didnt take it that way. thanks for watching!
Great video thanks brother. She is right that was fast. Great video thanks brother. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again
I'm working on a 2005 ford excursion with the 6.8l 2 valve v10 right now the truck that your v8 is going into can I have the v10 badging that is on the left and right side of the front fenders moving like a champ there J C
sorry they are already spoken for.
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS darn should of been faster it's okay
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS there so hard to find
D4x4Bronc if there original Ford emblems that would be amazing I would appreciate it if you are able to find some
Yup... Looks like you haven't ever done this before.
might have done it a time or two
6.8V10 manual trans conversion anyone?
What I want to know is do you have to replace the flux capacitor?
no but the canooter valve muster be transplanted
You sure know your way around those Ford Super Duty trucks, very detailed video.
Nice camera work by Mrs. JC and of course what video would be complete without the GradAll doing the heavy lifting.
You and Mrs. JC make a great team, nice job with the edits too.
2 thumbs up from here.
the gradall just make it more enjoyable. hope fully this is a quick project....i have many many more to get to!
Hey J.C could you use a 5.4 out of a 2000 f150 to put into a 2005 f250 that has a bad 5.4
A 2000 would be a 2 valve engine...the 2005 is a 3 valve engine...one does not replace the other.
Hello! I got a question if you can answer me I will appreciate your help...
I got a ford f350 4x4 5.4 (2001) manual transmission
My question is: I'm planning to swap my existing motor to v10 (6.8) but this is my big question...my manual transmission will fit in the v10?
The new motor came from a 2003 ford v10 and I got another truck (1999) v10...which one it will better to swap? And transmission will fit? Thanks for your videos....
Why does it seem like you worked on one of those before? LOL Your efficiency strikes again.
it is just what i do i guess.
Why do you never work on PowerStrokes?
I do work on powerstrokes. i have 2 6.0's and 3 6.7's that need fixed right now. i dont video every truck i work on. sometimes i just want to get it done. i am working on a 6.7 cummins right now.

If so, I would assume you would have to re-program the pcm? Thanks.
I need that bed in NH
That's going to be a nice looking truck J.C. Will it be 4X4 or just 4X2 when you're done?
it is 4x4 already and will remain 4x4. i will convert the transmission to accept the transfer case.
I saw the 4X2 trans output shaft and was wondering if that was your plan. That's a good looking truck I'd like to find one like it for myself I think I could make a solid F250 last me my life time.
Good video. Don't complain about your "camera operator" too much, most of us would love to have a pretty young girl helping in the shop. Just sayin'
i didnt complain....no big deal. better to have some help than none at all.
Do those 3 valves have the cam phaser? ....I love v10s to bad u didnt have another v10 ...where abouts are you located?
Great video J C
Can I have the fenders off the donor truck? Lol don't send those to the scrap heap...
Specifically the driver's side 😂
where do you live?
do you do the swap in one day ?
i dont think i could have it completely done in one day but i think i could have the engine bolted in the other truck in one day.
Hey jc sir please let me know what you are going to be asking for the truck I really like that body style of the 07- 06 F-250 I will try and save my money up I lost that 08 F-250 to my uncle

i started reading this and i thought....what???? you got me. i am not that good...i have just done it a time a two.
