+Edgardo Amado No we aren't, we just don't give our service away, if you keep price shopping you will only find people who can get work by selling it so cheap since their reputation is now shot.
Late to the party on this thread, but I was able to remove /replace all 20 studs in my 2001 Excursion. Excellent tips good sir! I did both sides in about 8 hours. 1 stud had to be drilled, 8 total that broke off long enough to get Vice Grips on. Love your videos!
So.... it's a 2004. The factory set of manifold bolts went bad in five years and your repair lasted six. So your repair lasted longer than the factory set of bolts. If I were the owner, I'd be happy with that.
When I had to do the studs on my 99 Expedition 4.6 I found a guy on EBay that sold stainless steel studs and nuts that worked perfect @ about $10 per side
Damn hell of a good job. I just finished exhaust manifolds on a Ford e450 with a V-10 Triton. Had to drill and tap 12 out of 20 bolts. The passenger side was the beast. Watching this video helped me get through that nightmare. Thanks for all the great content.
Cost me 1800 bucks a couple of months ago to replace both cracked exhaust manifolds and 4 broken studs on my 2010 5.4 F150 up here in Alberta. I wasn't happy with this at 90,000 miles. But at least the spark plugs were the one piece type and they had come out with no problem. That was another $210 just for the labor, though. I like Fords best when they still warranty. Mine, of course, was Over!! As a Senior, I can relate to and appreciate the challenges and the battle scars you incur. Great Show!!
Great job !! I have never been able to drill a broken bolt in the center, so I cheat I use the Ridgid 35585 No. 10 Screw Extractor Set it includes the bits, the extractors, but most importantly for me it also includes guides to center the drill bit, the only problem would be clearance, again great vids & thank you.
+Nick Nicu - I think we need to chip in and send him a really cute nurse to bandage that! Hmm, but what about Ms V. .. OK, we'll send him a really cute male nurse!! With dreads!!
it should be noted that you shouldn't really use a torch on an aluminum block. As soon as it gets to a certain temperature you start to anneal it, and could run into problems later. Cant wait for the second part! great video
Oh haha see I can't read... I am sure most people busting out a torch on an old rotted out truck are far from concerned about softening the metal on their heads...

I use a trick that has helped me before. Get the manifold hot. Then spray the bolts with ice water. ( in a spray bottle. ) When my 5.4 warped an exhaust manifold.i replace them with headers. The flange was thicker than the stock manifolds.
I see that in most of their videos in your area what most affects the car is rust. Here in Brazil where we live and more specifically São Paulo the cars here have many problems in the suspension. This is due to the streets in bad shape and many problems with fuel injectors and fuel pump due to the Brazilian fuel is very mixed with various chemicals such as solvents and ethanol. I do not remember if ever mentioned, but i also work as a mechanic just like you. Out of curiosity today I had to replace the head gasket of a Peugeot 207 and also had problems with the exhaust manifold, but it was much easier than his work in this video. Great video as always.
Old timer taught me to use a helicoil along with a wax candle. The heat drays the wax in like solder and lubricates the threads far better then the JB. I was dubious at first but was amazed at the results.
Massive amounts of salt do this to vehicals, really and truely after a day of work with something like that up north a good solid bath every-time its used is in order. Otherwise its gonna eat her alive.
@@mercedesbenzs600bash Wash that bitch down, clean all the salt out you can and don't be afraid to get it oiled up by a shop, not that rubber shit just like an oil spray idk if they even do it anymore, but the main goal is wash the salt out of it at a car wash.

Hats off to ya, I have not seen a rust bucket like that with less than 50K. he must run that thing at the salt flats drive home and park it for 10years.
Eric, you should do plugs on that engine to! I think you could easily make a 10 part cliff hanger!! lol Thanks, you have the best automotive channel on RUclips, Hands down!
I like to build up the broken stud with a welder and then weld a nut on and it usually comes right out first try with the right cooling time. Plus as the stud comes out it fixes the threads, only works on aluminum heads though.
Hi Eric, I just finished one side of my V10. Your video is very helpful. Thank you. If you would, please let me know the brand and part number for your socket stud extractor. The bulky one I am using doesn't work as nice. Thanks, Darryl
Well I'm from Michigan. And my wife's 2013 Ford escape with 52k miles is already showing signs of rust. Above the back wheels, and around the handle on the rear hatch. It's getting replaced by an Audi Q5. Sick of Rusty domestic junk.
Hello Eric enjoy the videos I own and operate a automotive repair and welding fabrication shop here in mass and I just saw the video for the manifold bolts I've done tons of them since we have the same weather I purchased a heating coil kit for this type of job and works great just there pretty cheap on eBay worth every penny thanks
I think ford finally switched over to stainless manifold bolts in 08.. I have owned had 4 f series trucks and it either spark plug issues or this problem...otherwise reliable. great job eric..this takes patietnce.

From my experience here in NJ, a vehicle that sits, rusts a lot more than one that is driven daily. Something about the high humidity in the summer we have here.
Lol, so much effort for that damn splash shield. Also, its really interesting how much faster a vehicle will rust to nothing if it's sitting versus being out on the road...
Oooooo. that converter is worth over $1100 on the scrap market in 2021. I just cut mine off and sold it since these trucks do not use an O2 sensor after the cat the PCM doesn't monitor the catalyst
Only driving tis thing a few thow a year. Must be storing it in Lake Erie . Man a little oil type spray works wonders when you buy a new vehicle. I do mine every year. And mine should of been rusted out years ago. I drive the dreaded tacoma frame around. Early 2000. Frame looks new
