In another episode she wanted to talk about how it’s a stereotype that white people don’t have it as bad as black ppl 🙄 she’s so so backwards
This had me dying. Did Rose just imply that she needed to get BLACKED in order to understand blackness on a "soul" level? Also at this point I am convinced Bruno is the black messiah. We need to have him in permanent black face so he can show us and lead us to a better future, he was meant to complete the work of Garvey, Malcom, and King.
Do everything the Bruno way! Also forget slavery did that even happen? like if it did so what? It probably ended like a million years ago learn to move on black creatu-- I mean people🤚🏻😒

I have to agree on this. She could've coached Carmen a little like Deanna the DJ did. She just let her walk in the beauty shop and do what came naturally to her, which is to be awkward and embarrassing. What else is she going to do? She has no other life experience to pull from to act otherwise. 💁🏽♀️
I’m a year late But I’m glad to see your comment. I feel she didn’t coach her properly at all she was just constantly critiquing without offering solutions and explanations
I may have missed something, but what do these people think when they have a camera on them? Do they not know they're on some sort of TV show? The reveal cannot be that much of a shock. The only ones who could pass for a different race are the children.
Hold on a minute. Did this man just say "mistreatment" when speaking about slavery? I actually had to rewind it and check. Mistreatment? Not the atrocity of people being dehumanized, becoming property for hundreds of years? For the love of God, this man needs help. You would have thought by the 5th episode he'd at least be able to speak knowledgably about something as obvious as that.
Rose is the most genuine person on this show and truly is in it to learn and TAKE something from this. ❤ we will never fully understand, appreciate, or experience how another side lives or what they’ve lived through, but I love that the communication is there and they’re all talking about important shit (we don’t talk about Bruno) and that they show the raw reality of the disgusting creatures out there who still have hate in their heart, and the angels that could care less about the color of your skin, all that’s matters is who you are as a person❤
Bless carmon heart like I know she’s not racist like her husband (he’s obviously is because he have negative thoughts on black people ) But she really just don’t know better 😅
They should remake this show.. even tho it would NEVER happen these days . I feel like it could be very insightful.. black face is playing a foolish character this is a learning/social experiment.
6:17 (Stevie wonder voice) “she’s got jungle feeva, she’s got jungle feeva” lol. 7:51 she said 50s 60s 70s 80s lol... amazing to me that she didn’t know who 50 cent was at that time... but it is what it is. I get it, I guess. 8:38 “love your hair can I touch it” lady if you don’t go sit down somewhere...I swear if I was on this show, that would’ve been the moment I knew she was in blackface. 11:16 “ all those colors in your hair, it reminds me of Halloween”... you were doing so good up to that point too... as far as Bruno walking around in Venice, I almost felt like people knew he was just a white dude in blackface, honestly. If this show would’ve had a 2nd season, I would’ve love to see what would’ve happened in places like Mississippi and Alabama. It would probably be an entirely different story.

Im very happy I decided to watch this show outside of youtube reactions saying "wow this is the worst show ever". This show is actually really good. Im impressed and I understand why it got an emmy, it started really important conversations.
Agree! I came from watching Jarvis rip it apart... Watched the few episodes he didn't cover.. And honestly really happy I did. This show is so much better than everyone is making out 🤔
@@AlexeiX1 I usually find his takes pretty funny, might not agree with what he says but he can still make me laugh, especially with Jordan but I totally agree on this one.. I watched the first few episodes only from his reaction. He hadn't covered episode 4 so I came to find it and realised its soooo much more meaningful and emotional than they could ever do justice to 😏 I'm white! Maybe I don't have the best place to say what is or isn't offensive but apart from Bruno 🤦🏼 the rest of that family just seem extremely sheltered and ignorant to the world. Can't blame people for how they were brought up or the fact they are able to live in a 'white middle class suburb'. Has kinda made me question all his other takes on content as I rarely watch it without commentary (actually make that NEVER watch it) and never realised how easy it is to be swayed just by someone else's opinion 🤔
Bruno keeps going and going with his belief of no racism but 5 episodes in for about 2ish weeks and has he made any friends? Did he really have any conversation with some black people that wasn’t about race? Did he actually try to understand some of the black culture? It’s all no because he will only be happy if Black people just fit in to his white culture. And it’s sad that a lot of people would still have this mentality today not as obvious as Bruno but the avoiding, and the lack of understanding of POC perspective and their different cultures.
I believe it’s the productions fault. If they really wanted to change his prospective, they would have left white and have the wife in black makeup in the overly pro black neighborhood. That or brought him to a KKK rally in black make up.
He just tries to find no racism, like he walks up and down the street, says the n-word a few times, and tells brian that racism doesn’t exist because he just walks around doing jack shit
Yes it's so sad and sometimes painful to watch. Meanwhile it shows the problem society is facing, when it's coming to daily racism, so maybe it's very good, that someone like him also joined the show
Why on earth did Rene keep trying to do things with women 20 years older than her? She should have tried doing things with women her own age. She's about 35 to 40 years old in the show.
Near the end of the episode, Rose says the best line in the whole show: "We are just humam beings. I am just a girl. Or, even more so, I'm just Rose-- and everybody is just who they are." Race and gender are social constructs. I didnt know this back in 2006. Good on you, Rose!
see that kind of naive statement right there doesn't magically erase years and years of prejudice and dehumanization that minority groups have experienced. the whole point of this project is to show that saying "we're all just human" isn't enough to be treated with compassion, respect, kindness, etc by people who hate you. It shows that you first have to acknowledge the difference of things like history, day-to-day experience, struggles, privilege, realize that you ARE different in that sense, and that you can connect on a human level without erasing peoples' real experiences. you have to acknowledge the root of things before you begin to heal. you can't move forward without acknowledging what's right in front of us.
@@cutekitty760 I totally agree with you! Literally every single point you made I agree with. Maybe I misinterpreted the line Rose says. I thought that she is saying that while we are all human, each person has their own story to tell-- their own history, life experience, etc. and that we dont all fit into these simple categories so easily so we shouldnt be judged in that way. Also, there's only so much a 17 yr old girl can do. She can't change legislation at that age. What she can do is recognize that everyone is worth compassion and treating everyone she meets with that outlook. I know it doesn't fix the centuries of injustice that is still rampant today, but it is what she could do at the time
Yes, she was talking earlier about the difficulties to connect, because of the differences between family history and daily experiences, so I think she understands the actual problematic in society and were it comes from very well. I don't think this statement is naive. It is deep.
Oh? So he can start playing the race card again? and make himself a constant pathetic victim of racism...instead of just being man enough and confronting , "big white male bullies"?
I don't think Renee is racist , just not very outgoing or an easy person to get to know and get along with. Bruno is just closed-minded and a good bit racist too.
The more that I watch this the more I get angrier. Not all black stories are filled with trauma and abuse. The producers of this show definitely wanted to push a single false narrative.
It does get me angry at times. But seriously there are some moments here, ive learned a little, more so connecting dots than anything new. I feel like i can see the evolution and expression of blackphishing throughout our history and how it became the epidemic of white rappers and white folks being “in” to black culture. And also how rose has sort of “got it”. I have adopted white family and ive watched them over time slowly have to confront their whiteness being close to us. And yeah its interesting. Watching bruno, and brian, and carmen, theres alot that they just dont know, especially bruno and carmen. I feel like Brian doesnt trust himself enough, it feels like he cant express himself. Like i said the show is interesting, sometimes rage inducing and i dont think thats all there is to it, maybe this was necessary in some fucked up way u know what i mean.
Bruno is right to not be into cigarettes or a dumb game he doesn't like I don't get it.. but he's still oblivious to the fact that bias against AAs is a thing unfortunately
Yes, i didn't like how they tried to say dominos and smoking is black culture. I was extremely offended by that. I've never partaken in either! The black dad tried to make the point about not generalizing people based on skin color then goes and agrees with the black guy on the balcony who's generalizing black people. Hypocrisy. 🙄
It **wasn't** *that* long ago that racism was the law. Some states still have racist laws. It's not about each individual getting money. It's about the American government, the representatives of the citizens, acknowledging and attempting to redeem a very heinous system of oppression that totally did exist and positively changed our country.
Bruno always has an excuse as to why he doesn’t enjoy a situation surrounded by black people. Come on, the common denominator isn’t the activity. It’s the race.
Because I've been in home health aid for years I've worked with white ppl and not all discriminate. Some made me feel even more welcomed then family. But there are some where you can feel that they are uncomfortable and that's when I become uncomfortable. One time I had a job interview. On the phone I sound "professional " so they were all happy to give me an interview. Once I got there and they seen my color, all of a sudden the position was filled. I wish some people do see the difference but, it's hard for them to see if they don't really have our history and decent. I love everyone 💗
Bruno is literally the most hated character and theirs a reason for that not wanting to understand the mixtape and both sides see that he just ignorant
Watched all the episodes in 2023 only just hearing about this show. Don’t know why it’s called black and white because the experience was only to try and get a glimpse into what it’s like to be black. The black couple hardly got into their white characters but the white couple were if not always then very regularly in their black characters. I know the black community experiences racism on a daily and this show is very eye opening, but I’m saying that the black couple were very dismissive with the white couple and what they experienced and didn’t want to try experience what it’s like to be white, it’s not the same but that’s the point. Bruno is very stubborn and won’t change because his not willing to see all points of views, but so is Renee, very judgemental, thinks she has white women especially all figured out and that she couldn’t learn anything, won’t learn a damn thing if you think you already know and can’t learn anymore.
@Maester Gryphon Nowhere did I say anything about reality TV being real or fake. Regardless of if this show is real or fake words are words and they have meaning and he said what he said. Now move along
@6:30 MINS. THIS IS THE TRUTH OF UNDERSTANDING ONE ANOTHER. We're not supposed to not see color. We just are supposed to accept ppl (or, not) for who they are, on a human level. Not on a skin color level.
@5:34-40: "A lot of people [unintelligible】 don't have that hood experience....“ This tells you all about this documentary. Families of different classes, which happen to be polarized to one skin color,; yet, not necessarily about skin color.
It’s about class differences. Unfortunately black people in the US are disproportionately poor which feeds into “black people are bad with money and lazy” stereotypes.
@@cubonefan3 Yes! This is about class difference! It was the cult of racism that created the polarization of "skin colors" in certain situations, but overall new opportunity is there to grow and it will be very difficult. Today, the cult of racism persists.
So fucking hilarious watching Brian slowly and quietly start to cheer for racist America. I mean it’s terrible, and surely frustrating that Bruno is so hard headed, but Brian can barely walk away from any situation without being frustrated that people weren’t racist towards Bruno. Sometimes Bruno is just blind to it but come on Brian at least be happy that you got some car help in Simi Valley.
I think if Bruno had been dressed like Brian, they would've seen the same thing. Two threatening black men. He just needed an untucked shirt and shorts exactly like Brian. The tucked in shirt and dork pants made him more white, thus "safe". Also, i get the feeling Bruno just looks like an overly-tanned white man to other white people. I think the white people just think "oh here comes one of our own, he must've fallen asleep in the tanning booth" so they aren't afraid of him like they would be if they really thought he was black.

She’s fake just like her mother. The audacity she has to think she can “enlighten” her peer is disgusting and only shows she doesn’t see black people as equal. In another episode she wanted to talk about how it’s a stereotype that white people don’t have it as bad as black ppl 🙄 she’s so so backwards
Yeah she's a nice girl, trying hard to be a better person... more than most do
This had me dying.
It probably ended like a million years ago learn to move on black creatu-- I mean people🤚🏻😒
😂
@6:40?
Black messiah? Never
Lol nooo
how i made it through this series without actually throwing up is beyond me
It's better for people to be trying to get along with each other, even if it's unsuccessful, than never trying to get along with each other, which is what happens today in many places.
Please enlighten me
Their problem with Bruno is they kept him in his regular middle aged clothing the entire time
What's wrong about that?
yeah they should've put him in the "thug" clothes that are more baggy and streetstyle. by wearing the other clothes, he can be perceived as one of the "good ones" by white folks imo
@@jerucells if a white boy wear "thug" clothing they get looked weird at too
Thats the way the other dad dressed.
@@jerucells So it's not skin color it's clothing?
Just when I thought Carmen was understanding it, 5 mins later..
Rene didn’t even try with Carmen. Like she assumes Carmen will get it but doesn’t even communicate with her
I have to agree on this. She could've coached Carmen a little like Deanna the DJ did. She just let her walk in the beauty shop and do what came naturally to her, which is to be awkward and embarrassing. What else is she going to do? She has no other life experience to pull from to act otherwise. 💁🏽♀️
I’m a year late
But I’m glad to see your comment.
I feel she didn’t coach her properly at all she was just constantly critiquing without offering solutions and explanations
6:25 it worked! Devon has been laying the mack down since they met! Haha 😄
This went from racism show to parenting to dating show
Not "Can I touch your hair?"💀🤣
I do appreciate people like Debra. They really focus on the human experience.
I may have missed something, but what do these people think when they have a camera on them? Do they not know they're on some sort of TV show? The reveal cannot be that much of a shock. The only ones who could pass for a different race are the children.
right?
Yooooo. The black mom needs to communicate better, but i know why she dont. The white daughter is the great white hope.
ALL THIS!!!!!
Yes they need to do this show with black face in Alabama 100%
As someone who is as white as could be, there is no chance in hell I would let someone say any of that shit to someone else in my presence. It’s so awkward and cringey it’s just unbearable to be around
This show is so much better than everyone is making out 🤔
@@marcusjay8103 yeah I did the same, Jarvis is not very good at reacting to content, and his take on this show was very very bad.
@@AlexeiX1 I usually find his takes pretty funny, might not agree with what he says but he can still make me laugh, especially with Jordan but I totally agree on this one.. I watched the first few episodes only from his reaction. He hadn't covered episode 4 so I came to find it and realised its soooo much more meaningful and emotional than they could ever do justice to 😏
I'm white!
It git a Emmy , I'm trying to figure out how I missed this show.
It's one of my favourite shows on RUclips. I first watched it in about 2008.
WOW "CONNECT ON A SOUL LEVEL WHERE COLOR DIFFERENCE JUST DOESNT MATTER" 💓
The girl smashed for real lol.
Bring it on lol
By a "Howard University" student, no less
She was caressing his chest like she was livin the dream
Meanwhile it shows the problem society is facing, when it's coming to daily racism, so maybe it's very good, that someone like him also joined the show
"take him an all black domino game" This is basically a skit from Chapelle. Bruno is Michael Scott and this show is The Office mixed with Curb.
Did Bruno really not see the ladies uncomfortable "white face"? Like "umm..yup ._." that's uncomfortable white face.
Its the Bruno block 😂
seeing that lil girl fall in love with the black kid...gives me hope for that family
Yeah Same man it was really touching dude but that dad is wack as hell
Please tell me they get together oh my gosh
I’m sorry to tell you this, but the white family…. Are all actors ):
@@sethforesi307 i found it strange that the dad has an IMDB
@@sethforesi307 That's such a relief actually. Thank God Bruno isn't real
Why on earth did Rene keep trying to do things with women 20 years older than her? She should have tried doing things with women her own age. She's about 35 to 40 years old in the show.
Near the end of the episode, Rose says the best line in the whole show:
"We are just humam beings. I am just a girl. Or, even more so, I'm just Rose-- and everybody is just who they are."
Race and gender are social constructs.
It is deep.
Bruno is TRAINED to think like this too damn
Curious to know what became of Devan. Seems like a great young man
Omg that's my Salon, my stepson just sent me this. This was many years ago. I'm doing the girl with the short copper hair. That's China from LA HAIR.
They’re in Simi Valley? Take Bruno to somewhere way more conservative and then have him talk.. nvm don’t let Bruno say anything.
Oh? So he can start playing the race card again? and make himself a constant pathetic victim of racism...instead of just being man enough and confronting , "big white male bullies"?
Renee and Bruno aren't that different... When it comes to stubbornness and being very set in their viewpoints
I agree...I'm looking at Renee like lady you're not even trying. She is also very combative.
Yeah Renee can be petty. She also seems kind of two-faced and bad at communication.
I don't think Renee is racist , just not very outgoing or an easy person to get to know and get along with. Bruno is just closed-minded and a good bit racist too.
I’d love to see where all these folks are today in life
We Stan for Debrah
The more that I watch this the more I get angrier. Not all black stories are filled with trauma and abuse. The producers of this show definitely wanted to push a single false narrative.
They acting like only black folks go through trauma...
@@sumayzebecreating Real shitty for the producers to go like you have to be hurt to have a story like no?? Let people have good lives???????????
The producer and creator is Ice Cube 😳
Keep it fuzzy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 remind you of Halloween
I bet Bruno would've been fine with the dominos table if it was a bunch of white people with european accents lol
Rene fuckin it up in a country club and a confederate flag chillin in the background 🤭
I think Bruno not finna let you steal his joy.. lol.
20:41 she going to all the most boring things 😂
Bruno is literally the most hated character and theirs a reason for that not wanting to understand the mixtape and both sides see that he just ignorant
had to take a break from watching this after the salon scene man was that uncomfortable
Carmen wasn't as bad as the other mom made her to be... She was trying
Shes not as bad *anymore*
They girl is ummm she's gonna have mixed kids or work as a teacher in an inner city school
Oh lord... another fetishist and pity hero! Like we need more of those

34:15 idc that guy talkin bout dominoes is so fineeee
It's almost like if you treat people with respect and courtesy you will recieve the same.
I like to think Debra knew and was just playing along because she thought this black lady was confused.
Because she didn’t look white
lol, it did seem like that 😂
Anyone else notice the white activities Reneè picked out lmfao she's just gonna meet old people
Bruno- you get what you put out… so basically saying that black people are asking to be treated with racism
Not basically. He's literally saying that smh.
@Maester Gryphon Nowhere did I say anything about reality TV being real or fake. Regardless of if this show is real or fake words are words and they have meaning and he said what he said. Now move along
Lol, Renee learned that some white women aren't boring.

Brian should take Bruno to his work.
Simi fucking valley bro what… I’m still shocked about that ngl. I work in simi and the racist there is something different ngl
Yeah Brian reminds me of a living key and peele skit.... he sees racism in the weather 😂😂😂
Omg I just want to put my paws on Bruno🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I want to put my paws on Brian, as well. Always making himself a victim of racism its pathetic....
