When I was a kid in the 80s the best thing about going to the mall was visiting the food court and getting an orange Julius and a corn dog. What a good memory. Thank you.

we had no idea how good we had it, mine was an OJ and a pretzel with about 10$ to spend if lucky, most of which went to the Mall arcade

@@PolPotsPieHole We really didn't have much money back then. We generally went to the mall just to hang out. We did get an orange Julius and a hand dipped corn dog. Or some freshly pulled taffy. Or some candy from the candy store. And on rare occasions we had enough to see a movie. But the arcade was out of the question except for a turn at pac man or the original star wars machine. But it was only one game because we only had one quarter each. It's sad I know but it's the way it was.

Growing up in Sepulveda, California and Monroe high school during the early-mid 1970's, we had an Orange Julius on Woodley Ave that had the best burgers, to this day. Anybody else here from The Valley who remembers? Great times, better days, the best food - always hot and fresh, and when Gina Acosta worked there I always got extra fries.

In the late 80s and early 90s, I use to go get hotdogs? or chili dogs? and orange smoothies at the Orange Julius inside the Esplanade Mall. The mall got demolitioned in 1999 in El Rio CA. Sears and Robinsons May were the anchors. Long gone now. I can't believe 23 years have past by so fast. Time flies. Thanks for the memories.🌭🌭🌭🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊

In the old days, I'm talking 1960's, they used to sell what we called a "Pizza Puppie". It was basically a piece of cheese pizza, usually square, Wrapped around a hot dog with a toothpick through it. I believe they were a quarter, which was expensive for the time. Boy were they good! I was only able to have a few when I was young because they cost too much, But I'll still order one at Costco. You should see the reaction when I order a dog without the bun and a slice of cheese. Then I wrapped the dog in the pizza and eat it. Not quite the same, but close.

Summer of 1980, I watched the teenager behind the counter make my first Orange Julius. She put some ice in a blender; Cut up a big Naval Orange and put it in (peel and all) and hit the button. Best tasting summer drink, ever! Never saw her, or any other, add any milk or powder to the mix. Just ice and Naval Oranges. In the 90's, that changed. That's when I noticed them adding the powder. Ruined it!

My parents opened the OJ in the Carlsbad CA El Camino Real mall in 1969! We did our training in the one in Los Angeles first! We had it for years, & had to black out the “secret powder” ingredients when the round box came in. It had many ingredients, not just egg white & powdered sugar.

July 1978, kid from Australia dragged around a stiflingly hot Las Vegas by casino tripping parents. Kid discovered shopping mall food court. Not a thing here at that time. Slap bang in middle was an Orange Julius shop. Kid spent entire holiday spending budget at OJ stand over 3 days while parents spent all their money at Circus Circus. I can still taste the delicious creamy, foaminess. Have tried making at home many times. My memories of Las Vegas will always be Orange Julius. My best memory of USA is still Orange Julius.

My first job at the OJ at Great Lakes Mall in Mentor OH. Great times. Made 3.35 in 1986. Best job ever! We had the orange chairs with the pitchfork backs and black lava rock walls. We were right next store to Spencer Gifts. Store eventually merged with a DQ in the food court and was the end of an era.

I used to go to O.J. and buy hot dogs on my break from Spencers Gifts. This dude Ernie worked there. Ernie was cool but had ZERO filter. Ernie would tell me all the gossip from the food court. You see, the mall food court in the mid 90s was basically Grindr with french fries. The stories that man could tell were VIVID. Seems like almost every spot in the food court had half of its staff on the hookup train to pound town. That is my only real memory of O.J.

Aww man..I remember when OJ became DQ at the mall down the street I was sad and confused then I found out DQ owns OJ 😂
I only got food there once when it was DQ. I actually got the food and some money for free because the employee at the register fuckd all the way up 😂
The lady ahead of me paid for her food with $20 then the employee gave her her change but didn't put the $20 in the register right away, he just left it on top of the register. After that he took my order then put the $20 in the register and gave me change so thats how I got free food and money 😂
I dont remember what food I got but it must've been a chili dog and a soda 👍
Unfortunately the DQ at the mall has closed yrs ago and was eventually replaced with a Thai food spot ☹

we sold Burgers, Fries, Onion Rings, Chicken sandwiches, hot dogs with tons of toppings, soft pretzels, coffee, and nachos. Pretty sure that was everything outside of the actual Julius drinks. I could crank out a fresh squeezed Orange Julius in about 10 seconds back in my prime. OJ. crushed ice, sugar water, and top secret julius powder (egg white, vanilia, almond powder and a few hundred other ingredients I dont remember)

With the cost and simplicity of this drink, I don't know how they will ever stay in business in the future, especially with rising prices going forward.!
Hell, I've been making my own that taste better and are cheaper since the early 1990's....just pick your favorite oranges or other fruits use the same original ingredients, poof....you got your own custom replacements.!!
