In England, a hamlet means a very small community without a church. I think that’s what they were thinking, love those old pictures with the stars in a darkened booth ha. That area of Sunset before it heads down to the beach is a magical spot. It’s still magical. ✨ In late 1970s Long Beach (2nd St of Belmont Shore) there was a place called Hamburger Henry that was kind of a copy I guess. I remember their “Apple Burger” being quite tasty.

Ate at my local Red Lobster last Monday. I did the endless shrimp and ate 14 orders of shrimp 🍤 😂😅

I agree the parking was awful. Old Town Pasadena had a better vibe especially on Fridays and Saturdays.

I grew up in Schaumburg from 63 to 77 when I joined the Navy. I worked in the Sears Catalog department from 1975 to 1977. When the Mall opened in 1971, the music was provided solely by the Conant HS Marching band because (a) they were the closest School and (b) Schaumburg HS had just started their Marching Band in the Fall of 71. I know because I am a founding member.

I’ll be 42 in September and one of my closest friends for a little bit over 20 years now since I met him when I was around 18 and getting into skateboarding, coincidentally not too far around the time when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater came out. We went. I handful of times in the 2000s to Metrocenter to get food from the food court, we would visit Spencer’s, Hot Topic and Game Stop at least. Me and him had another friend of ours who I don’t remember why or when we stopped hanging out, but I think he eventually moved out of the neighborhood, but me and my friend Josh mentioned had a another Josh I believe a handful of years was a professional skateboarder, and then my Josh tells me that a handful of years ago he got out of that and got into designing skate parks themselves, but I want to say at least somewhere between the mid 2000 to early 2010, there was a two-story place in the mall called either Skate or Park or Skate Park 😂, and me and Josh I remember spending a short 10 to 15 minutes in there watching all of these other skaters that were anywhere from amateur and just starting out whether they be a little kids, teenagers or adults to people that obviously knew what they were doing 😄, and Josh thought it was too much for us, I don’t remember us staying that long, but I do remember years later at some point down the road, at some point in time I handful of years later after that, I remember me and him hanging out there for some reason, and I remember the handful of stores by that point in time they were closed and there was maybe a third of the stores closed at that point in time or just a smidge more than a third. A friend of mine who moved out of state a handful of years ago, but I’m still friends with them on Facebook and I still chat with them every now and then, I remember me and her seeing Isn’t it Romantic with Rebel Wilson and Jigsaw at the Harkins. The last time is doing anything in any kind of building attached to the mall itself. Now, if I’m ever around that area, seeing as I live in the middle of the city, and that several miles from where I live, even though a bar that I regularly go to on Saturday nights is not too far distance from that mall area, the only time I’m ever near the mall is when I’m picking up an order from Texas Roadhouse at the place itself that I ordered on the app prior, but I haven’t done that in a handful of months now. Construction was supposed to start last year after the, a fond farewell, last time festivity event which I was at and got a large shirt from along with that evening two final viewings of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, but what upsets me more is because they’re behind on starting the demolition, it would actually, even though there would be a breaking down of knowing there’s no building there after demolition has ceased, and it’s just Clearview across the way, it actually upsets and bothers me more that the building is still standing because it’s lifeless and inactive and quickly, but surely becoming decrepit, especially with the homeless genre of people being around that area, I would honestly rather it be gone and just keep it in my memory and instead of driving past this huge building that was great, still standing there no activity going on with it.

Nice to learn the History...we went every week back in the 90's and on...but now just so expensive....but hearing they might close...we are going next week...must have those biscuits and Coconut Shrimp

My first real job was selling shoes at the Florsheim store in this mall from FEB 1997 thru OCT 2000… Oh the memories!

This is a food chain memory from my childhood and as a child the chicken crust was WAY too salty.

I remember drinking YooHoo Chocolate drink back in the mid-60s and again in the early 70s. I'm so happy YooHoo is still around.

They tore down OSkO'S DISCO to build that mall. i had a lot of fun in the late 70's early 80's there. the movie "thank god it's friday" was filmed there. before that it was called "the millionaires club"

I was in high school when they cleared out the cabbage field to start construction. Metrocenter was the place to hang out. 50 years ago.....

I remember going to old town mall several times as a child with my parents. It must've been right after the mall had opened up for business, and I remember it being styled after the old wild West and having lots of entertainment and being more like an amusement park

The original developer must have been influenced by Disneyland's Main Street but without the money, creativity & conceptual sophistication of Walt Disney. Someone who visited Old Towne in the early 1970s told me she graded it as very weak & uninspiring. Millions of $$ are lost each generation by people who have more ambition than good sense.

Surprising much fewer closures happened in such a struggling place! BTW, I actually counted one more than revealed!

I went to Paradise Valley Mall. Sad it is demolished. People should spend their time outside shopping it is more fun than online.

I worked at leads cards & gifts. I went out with a security guard who worked their. Some of my friends worked at Hot Dog on a stick. Crime sure did get bad.

We had a K-Mart across the street from 1982-1986. There 3 more close by. The closest was about 3 miles away.

I remember a store there called Brown knows computers before any one I personally knew knew anything about computers. Another store there was "Built like a Brick Shirt House". I even worked for Harris' for a couple years as my first real job. As a weekend maintenance worker wiping up spills and picking up trash at registers. (referred to as " cash wraps") one thing that stands out was the amount of tossed out fresh lemonade cups from the hot dog on a stick store. they would toss them into these bins made for paper and when I would lift the bin up dump it into my rolling janitor trash can I was often exposed to liquid lemonade all over the front of my work clothes. Ahh, the good ole days at Redlands mall. My ex even later worked at the Redlands federal bank branch at the mall. One elevator from the downstairs parking lot to the main floor. It gave the illusion it was a two-floor mall but was really a small one level shopping venue. with a downstairs parking lot .

I was so excited to see this pop up in my recommendations. I grew up in La Habra in the 80's and 90's. Though I was young I have very distinct memories of visiting Fashion Square with my mother and grandmother's, especially Buffum's and Bullock's. The first movie I ever watched in a theater was at the Fashion Square theater and we often ate at Fiddler's Three, which was just across the parking lot from the theater.

A dying mall, like Westminster mall, is a really sad destination.

My dad worked there out of college,. Our Grant City was quickly converted to a K-Mart. For years the small shopping plaza receipt used to say Grant City shopping plaza long after they were gone.
