My brother was born in Encino, and I remember going to the El Torito in Granada Hills, frequently. Tom petty would frequently visit Dell Shannon, who lived next to my friend's house in Northridge. Great historical vlog, learned quite a bit! Ever consider a Vlog about Sambo's restaurants? My dad managed two of them, first in Paramount, Calif. and then the one in Granada Hills, Ca. I still have the newspaper article from 1973 when they did the ribbon cutting ceremony on the opening of the Granada Hills one, and three menus from 1973, and some of my dads Sambo's stock certificates!
😮 That's awesome 😎 I hope you and Eric exchange information and he does the video with the help from your documentation. Seriously, that sounds amazing, your dad managed two of them and you got to talk with Tom Petty??? 😮 You're blowing my mind 🤯. Duuuuuude 😎 Eric has to make that video, it would also be such a great memory/documentary for you and your family, that would be so wonderful 😊 having a meaningful video on demand to share with your family. I'd feel very special if I were you guys. Nothing too exciting like that happened in my family, just that my great aunt was close friends with Jack Brown of stater bro's. Here's to Eric and Carlos 🍻 for the great opportunity of another great video for us all! 🙏🏼 God make Eric follow through.
Well Eric this was a really great and comprehensive video that I enjoyed! When I was in college I used to go to El Torito all the time, but if it was gonna be a fancy occasion with friends we'd go to the El Torito Grill. Was that part of the same chain and did it also have an extensive history? If so it might be worth another separate video?
Me and my buddy 16-17 yr olds. spot back in the day Beach boulevard Southern Cal order Coke and ask for salsa and chips over and over, late 70's and 80's thank you for the update. otherwise I'll be 🛶 🎣 🌲
@@echang1976 For many of us as well, you bring more positivity to the world and I thank you for that Eric. You must have amazing parents who should be very proud to call you their son.
4:30 😂 "Taco Tuesday!" I just recently was watching videos on the whole "Taco Tuesday!" Beef/ownership of the phrase between several different Mexican restaurants and fast food chains. It was interesting to say the least, I dont think any ONE restaurant should own the phrase, because it should be for everyone to enjoy, it makes the whole taco 🌮 experience that much better, I never met a person who doesn't smile and become more energetic after hearing and saying "TACO 🌮 TUESDAY" 😊😁🎉🎉🎉
Encino, CA that reminded me of the great movie "Encino man"(1992) starring Pauly Shore and Brendan Fraser(poor Brendan, that man got chewed up and spit out by Hollywood, he was such a wonderful actor and personality, I can't help but wish things went differently for him) Raji: No weezing the ju-uice!😂😂
Is? 🤔 I'm sorry you had a bad experience or experiences. Everytime I and my family visited their several locations, it was like family visiting family with excellent food, and we're gringos.😂😂😅
@@SmoothBrain23 The location closest to me is Anaheim (Ball/State College) The one next to the Stipper joint that burned down. It didn't seem busy, but yet they took over an hr to get us our drinks, and the food came out cold. tasted odd. So my group got up and paid at the bar and left (we were seated in the dining room). Since then Ive skipped the whole brand it's self. Even the the location by the Orange Outlets is gone. Replaced with an In-n-0ut I just feel like the quality is GONE. There is just sooo much Mexican here in Socal that you can find a hella a lot better. Example Gabby's in Orange
That's a great question, I believe in certain areas yes, but I haven't been there since 2011 or 2012 , I'm sorry I wasn't able to provide you with an up to date answer.

Pauly Shore did a short film about Richard Simmons and Brendan recently did a movie called The Whale. It was pretty good.
The food is soooooooooooo bad.
