A must-have controller for ANYBODY who even plays fighting games at all! The Sega Saturn controller had arguably the BEST design for fighting games in general.
100% Back in the day when we used mame32k under the windows xp os, I used a microsoft sidewinder gamepad which had 6 buttons, L/R triggers, 2 buttons in the center and had the BEST d-pad
Thanks for this video. I have 2 M30s in my collection. I had forgotten about them. Much easier to use the M30 for PC fighting games than to lug my Hori Alpha or Real Arcade Pro 4 from my PS5 gaming zone to my PC.

You know what's better than the 8bitdo controller? It's the one from Retro-Bit, the SEGA Saturn controller. It has the PlayStation stick layout but the form factor of the OG Sega controller and both sets of shoulder buttons and works on everything like $50 bucks..
I have the same and it works wireless on PC via the USB 2.4ghz wireless dongle. I also have the Genesis 2.4ghz wireless dongle so this controller also works wireless on my Sega Genesis.
The Xbox edition of the M30 is wired only, has 2 extra shoulder buttons and the dpad is way more accurate (no accidental diagonals). The Xbox edition with the brooke wingman xe2 on ps5 and iPad is my go to for fighting and beat em up games. Edit: I have every M30 controller for comparison.
@MDSoulTV The dpad just feels tighter resulting in feeling more nimble in fighting games. I was playing SF6 with the same model M30 you are showing here and loving it too. I heard about the Xbox M30 having extra shoulder buttons, which put it on par with the Hori Octa in terms of button mapping options on a fightpad. I was quite shocked when I first played with it. It's just like a really refined M30 that is competition legal too (it loses turbo functionality).
I used one of these for an Analogue MegaSG with no issues, I got another new white/saturn one with the updated USB C port, and on multiple occasions when used on Steam Deck (for Marvel 2), playing on an Analogue Duo, and in general use on a a MiSTer FPGA, the Dpad too easily throws the wrong direction, or outright "gets stuck" continuously moving for a few seconds. I never checked for new firmware or tried it directly wired yet, so I won't write it off as bad yet.
Just tried it. Can't even update the firmware on it. It won't be recognized via their update tool with any of the USB cables they shipped with their controllers. I updated and went through the process on an 8bitdo SNK NeoGeo pad, the white M30 2.4g does nothing but draws power, shuts off the lights, and the tool keeps waiting for connection. I also made sure to shut down steam. So, it's probably crap.

Having extra shoulder buttons on the top would be redundant the missing shoulder buttons are used as the Z & C buttons on the six face buttons, non fighting controllers only have 4 face buttons, e.g. ABXY or ∆OX☐.
@@wedge9t hori does it. Check out the hori controller. Same with the victrix. They both do that and are used for fighting games and have 6 button layout. I said what I said lol 😂
I've had one for over 6 months unused but the minute the marvel collection came out I paired it to my steam deck, rog ally and my lenovo legion go. Mvc2 doesn't really need all buttons tbh neither does the punisher
I respectfully disagree. I love the Saturn controller/layout for most fighting games and I’m sure this controller is built well because 8bitdo usually knock it out the park. However I find doing opposite direction inputs for stuff like super jumps a lot less reliable on pads and that is very central to the toolkit of many characters in the versus games
The M30 is the best Sega Saturn style controller there is. The Retro bit counterpart is awful compared in every way. The M30 is better than the real Sega controller imo. MD and Saturn. ☮️

The retrobit one is better, besides the retrobit one is modeled after the OG Saturn controller NOT the genesis controller and is compatible with more systems...
@@Zx7o. The Dpad on the Retrobit is the smooth glossy plastic one vs the textured DPad some of the originals had. I disliked the smooth pad so I cannibalized an original Saturn pad & put it in the Retrobit. The 8bitdo went with the textured DPad so, for that alone, I'd have to give it a big edge over the Retrobit pad. In terms of the 6 face buttons, they're both on point.
Quick question it works with xbox series?...i have the original games on original formats but will be buying the titles for xbox when it comes out...modern dpads really suck for fighting games

Soon after watching your videos I saw one of my cousins selling a Razer panthera Evo on FB Marketplace and he don't even play fighters so I got that from him for $170, customized it with parts and built several hit boxes 😎

M30 is the best 6 button controller for fighters hands down. Only thing it misses to be perfect is rumble

I believe it is the best 6 button controller on the market. Retro Bit did make a wireless Sega Saturn 6 button thats legit and endorsed by Sega.
Retro bit IMO is hit or miss but that Saturn joint I might have to pick up

Always hated Sega controls. Super controls were much better for fighting games. Only downside was the L+R buttons constantly breaking.

It has 8 buttons already so does not need an additional 2 bumper buttons since thats what y and z are
