It feels like David left this world and a bright shining light went with him. Everything was better when he was around. Thank God he left a window into that world via his music.

The dark eye and the bandage was teather and makeup. Pianist Mick Garson wrote that on Facebook. And I read somewhere it was for a hurricane that happened at the time, in 2005. Observe that it vanished on the "Five Years" performance at the same day.
Not sure where this came from… how you found and posted a better version. Still, can’t thank you enough. It’s an important and beautiful performance. Glad to have a more pristine copy.
Yes this is a better version than the somewhat misleading 'last live Life on Mars'. It comes via in a circuitous way 'Wake Up' where he looks more chipper at teh same gig with Arcade Fire. Here the hand is bandaged and bit of black eye -ooh Maybe a car shunt?
You know, one thing I just noticed you can see the passion that Bowie has for the song. I may be late at this comment. But it's crazy to see the dedication someone has, that I would.
Yet it sounds like it was written with his cut up method. Perhaps his passionate delivery is part of the theatre he brought to performances. If you watch him sing Heroes at Musikladen he flubs the lyric. He does it in the same spot in another clip from that mini-tour. It really seems like he pretended to screw up :)
It may or not be real; he saw himself as both musician and actor on stage. His emotion in Heathen is real-the story behind his writing it is worth a read 🌞
Oh Bowie…you are so deeply missed…being in such a band could well have been one of your epic changes, like a warmer, louder Tin Machine. Shame it was for one night only.
It's been 4 months and every time I listen to David in this wonderful, unique, compelling video, I can't stop crying. Thanks for uploading and sharing it. It's a precious gem

I’ve seen this before but never at this quality. I’m now noticing things that I’d never noticed before - like the black eye and bandaged hand. So I have to ask, who the hell did Bowie get in a brawl with??
nn krs It might have all been a fashion statement. There were rumors about his bad health and this was the last time he performed in America. Note that the bandage is also gone in the Arcade Fire performance.
Perhaps this could be seen as the last ‘proper’ televised performance of Bowie. He did perform after this though. He did ‘Comfortably Numb’ and ‘Arnold Layne’ with David Gilmour a year later. He also performed a comedy song in the tv show ‘Extras’ and did ‘Wild is the Wind,’ ‘Fantastic Voyage’ and ‘Changes’ at a charity event hosted by Alicia Keys.
So I keep watching this over and over and over again I returned to often and not it is perhaps the closest thing that I have to religion that he could get up there and do that a couple weeks after having a major health situation
David Bowie wears trousers cut short in 2005, and everyone else does 10 years later.
?.. Suits have slightly shorter trousers. Just like leaving the third button open. It's custom for hundreds of years prob
I know what you mean but people were wearing trousers short like that in the sixties and again in the eighties. He looks great. 🙂
Mike Garson is David's guardian angel and accompanied him until his last performance.
What a great character the Bowie's piano man!
always always missing him......

Imagine the honor of having David playing one of your songs on stage. And they were a relatively new band at the time.
wait, you know this is a david bowie song, right?
@@galenhanlyhefferman8764The second song is an Arcade Fire song.
The dude with the tambourine didn’t have to go that hard, but he did… He did it for us.
He was over playing, wasn't he?

I thought that might be the case in the instant I saw it, classic david 🥲
Why would he?
i think his voice sounds even better with age!
One of the best music performances ever. Period

miss this Legend very much.

The footage was captured by a DVstorm capture card directly from the broadcast. Not the cheapest option but worth it.
I always loved David's voice. His energy and enthusiasm he puts into his songs.
David bowie and arcade fire? Its really nice to see them on stage together. Wow, they are all so young too. Happy for them.

Thanks, best quality version on the Tube of this, I believe last, live performance by Bowie. It is actually in 2006.
The Black Ball was his last ever public live performance on the 9th November 2006.

That's a phenomenally deep cut and interesting coincidence, considering their shared connection to that show.
Well, she seemed to be enjoying herself, Dale.
Excellent! do you have "five years" from the same show?0
Not in the same quality.

Fantastic. One thing - why does Garson need sheet music?? He's played this song thousands of times with Bowie. How very bizarre.
And it’s his business what happened to his eye and wrist
Is this Radio City Music Hall? The Beacon?
Maybe the black eye talks about the violence in the song\
yes, and also a revisit of Lodger.
Does anyone knows what happend to his hand and right eye at that time? It looks like hes been hurt
iDeferente just makeup!
Maybe to look like the lawman beat up the wrong guy?
who played the piano does anyone know

Why has Bowie a black eye in the first song and in the second song it is gone? Any idea? Has he gotten in a fight before?
