Just before my mom passed away, my sisters and I offered to paint her nails. Mom was already non verbal and very near the end of her days on earth. One sister suggested hot pink, my other sister suggested Essie Ballet Slippers. The last word my mom ever spoke was "Ballet Slipper". Unfortunately, my Mother went to be with God a few hours later and we didn't have an opportunity to paint them. We brought the paint to the funeral home a few days later, determined to fufill her last request. When we went to the casket intending to paint them, nail polish bottle in hand, the funeral home had already painted them; in Ballet Slipper!!! We even had to ask to confirm and it was the exact same brand and the exact same color. Thank you Suzie for bringing me this surprise reminder of my mom. God works in mysterious ways.
Awe, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad she got her wish, even though it wasn't you who painted them. I've never tried this colour but I'll have to now. God bless as you move forward in life without your mom present. Just know she watches over you. 💔
That is a professional nail polish she used today in this video. Essie is well-known and wins Awards still to this day from the day they popped onto the market decades ago. It's just now recently in about the last decade it's been available more so to the general public than ever before. It's also a very affordable durable professional nail polish.
I’m glad I found this video. Of all the people that show how to do ombrés you’re the only one I’ve seen that’s showed a close-up and tips, no pun intended, on specifics. Thank you so much! I love watching your natural nail videos.
I have learned so much from you. I can do my nails all at home. I've had professional nail techs check my nails over and be impressed with my techniques. I've even taught a few some of your techniques. It's all because of you. I only learn from you. And I tell everyone who wants to learn nails to check you out. You inspire me to become a professional. Thank you for all of the time you and cameraman dedicate to these tutorials.
Suzie helped me learn to do my nails too! It's funny how many people think my nails are professionally done. I just say "nope, I did them myself! It's very relaxing."
Ombrés are one of my favourite things to do! Just a quick tip, if you use the top of the sponge instead of the side, you can cut the part with the polish out, and use the same one again as it will be nice and fresh!
I actually gasped when you put the box on the table. But then you threw it behind you, and I was at peace. So love this one. Shows us how to use regular product, found almost anywhere. I can hear Cristine in my head "dab, dab, dab, make your nails look fab" lol. I use the square bottom of the sponge, then I have the whole length of the sponge to hold onto, because I have big fat fingers 😂.
Non-latex makeup sponges have smaller bubbles/holes so they leave less sponge markings in the gradient. Just did a dark purple/magenta gradient and got soooo many compliments in the office! If you have short nails with no tips grab liquid latex for your cuticles way less cleanup.
Karen Lawson just google liquid latex for nails paint on cuticles and peel off just like blue tape for wall painting. There’s tons on Amazon. Simplynailogical uses it a lot she lives in Canada.
Whenever my mom yells at me for throwing stuff on the floor, I'll now answer with *I'M A PROFESSIONAL NAIL ARTIST, YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND* 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I was a nail tech for 14 years and I’m still obsessed with gorgeous nails. I loved this video. Thank you for doing this one showing the technique with Essie polish (Personal fave for years). Fabulous. I’m a new fan!
I'm sure the Queen is a lovely person, but she's really demanding about what others wear. Did you know that none of the women in the Royal Family are allowed to wear nail art, or polish darker than their skin? Only nude colors, and no nail art of any kind! No stones, no stamping, no hand painted art, nothing! I think they can get away with a French manicure or French fade look if they are willing to stick their necks out a little bit. I'm sure they are risking a dressing down if the Queen notices, however. I would *hate* the nail polish rules if I were a member of the Royal Family.
4:21 Suzie: "I'm just the nude freak, i love that...... *for my nails that is.* " Cameramen: "(deep breath)... Thank you for clarifying that." Suzie: "Yeah we don't wanna go there." 😂😂😂😂
I started on your channel when you were at a mere 300k subscribers! I'm so proud to see how much this channel has evolved, as well as your technique with polishes and explaining the process! And of course, the lovely cameraman with his occasional comments! You've done a great job with your channel, and you deserve everything you've become! ♥️👍🏼😘
You are my nail hero! I have gotten soooo much better at not just polish, but creative ideas as well! I love Essie, but I also love L.A. Colors! Keep teaching, keep inspiring!
I'm loving those colors. I find it very soothing to watch you paint your nails, and seeing the sponging technique. That being said, I'm tired of that shape. There are so many shapes available and I'd love to see them. xoxo
so I've caught myself talking to myself and copying the soothing sweet way you talk! 😅😊 oh, and I also sleep to your videos every single night now that I finished watching all of them..I'm going through them again and your voice is the last thing I hear before sleep.. you're a great artist, Suzie 😇
Hi Suzie! I love all of your tutorials. I think I have watched them all since I discovered you. So professional and fun at the same time. Your tone is sweet and super calming. I can’t get enough of your videos. Please let us know what was your fave combo that you used for reveal. I did not catch it in the video. Thanks for taking the time to make these and regular polish technics videos are always welcomed and appreciated. 💕💅🏽🙌🏽
So pretty, apparently the Queen loves Essie polish Ballet Slipper is her favorite she stocks up on it. I am gonna have to try these love your videos xx
Essie is my favourite drugstore nail polish, I primarily use OPI on my clients but I definitely recommend Essie to my clients as a slightly cheaper polish option
Essie’s Muchi, Muchi is one of my favourite nail varnishes. It’s such a pretty pastel pink colour, but overall I just love their range of pastel pinks and nudes.
Hi I'm new to your channel as of today. I enjoyed watching. I do my own nails, it's more affordable. I use to get Acrylic but they were hard on my own nails. I'm starting to practice Ombre so this is what brought me here. It's taking some practice but I won't give up. It's nice to know you're a professional ♡
Loves this so much!!! Suzie thank you so much for these videos!!! I am a DIY and a beginner I’ve learned so much from you. And my techniques have gotten so much smoother since finding you! Thank you and love you so much!!!! One thing that drives me insane is when I do glitter nails they always feel rough and bumpy. I’ve tried all different things and I just don’t understand why. Can you make a video with tips and tricks and how to on glitter nails? PLEASE!?! Thank you!!
Beautiful ombre! I used to use ballet slippers for my French Everytime! Now I have been going with some pretty bold/brilliant colors! Essie is an excellent polish! Have you tried mermaid chrome over a nude ombre/or French? OMG! 😍 Try it, it gives just a hint of shimmer & is oh so lovely! ❤️ Thank you for sharing ❤️
I came across your channel last week. And I'm enjoying watching all your videos. I love doing my nails. I loved this video. Do you have an tutorial doing French manicure with dip powder acrylic? As I love that look wanting to do my nails Almond shape with a dip ombre French manicure as I'm going to be doing dip acrylic. And have no idea how to do it. Or with gel polish. Xx Scrap that just found a video on your channel. Xxx
Aww throws me back to the time when I use to wear ballet slippers all the time (I was afraid of befit colors on my nails) Now I’m all neon and crazy designs haha love this
Have you tried the brand american classic Gelous as a topper? I find nothing last more than couple hours on my nails. This has helped a lot with my manicures & pedicures I do on myself. If you have a Sally's or something similar around they should carry it.
I don’t even do nails but I love your content and it also helps that you have a really nice speaking voice! lol 😂 but aside from your voice your videos are very entertaining, educational and inspiring! 💖
Beautiful job as usual Suzie! Two quick questions... 1. Which color did you end up choosing to use for your whole hand? 2. I do ombre on my own nails using gel polish in similar colors to what you've used in this video but I find it very difficult to get a smooth color transition, without the sponge marks/dots. I got an acrylic overlay (no tips since I don’t like long nails on myself) and now just use regular polish. My manicures now last two weeks or until I’m ready to get a balance!

Agreed! Also more than one layer sponged on makes a smoother looking ombre.
I totally agree with doing two or three layers and using a denser LATEX FREE sponge for a smoother finish.
I actually gasped when you put the box on the table. But then you threw it behind you, and I was at peace.

Ballet slippers is the color that Queen Elizabeth II loves
I came here to say the same thing! She's been wearing it for thirty years now.

Your acrylics are beautiful! And the ombré turned out amazing, too.
