i just started learning how to do nails so my gf doesnt have to spend so much money at a salon and out if all the nail videos ive watched yours are the best ones of beginners like me to understand, ive perfectly made 3 sets of nails with your advice, thank you so much
THISSSSS 🥹 I’m trying to get my partner to learn about nails too cuz he’s an amazing artist and I want his art on my nails 😍 lol told him I’d do all the other work just pain the pretty art pls! Haha
Wow that’s really sweet that you’d do that for her! I hope you guys are still together!
YOU...are awesome!
That's so nice of you !🥲🙂 I would say the worst part for me in painting nails is the precision to not get on the skin mainly cuticles 😅my mum bought for us beetles gel nail polish set from amazon it has top and base coat which I do have anyways but its nice set and for 20 pounds you get 21 small bottles with different colours I'm actually in disbelief how good they are ,at first I was like ugh probably some shit from China 😅 as I've seen some people on RUclips rave about them but I'm glad I gave them a chance now I'm gonna possibly order all sets they sell 🤣 . Anyway good luck 👍 ✨️ 😌 I hope your girlfriend is proud of you bc she should be not many guys would ever think about doing this for their partner especially with learning it more than just doing as best as you can once a year if you doing gel nails make sure you prep them good clean with acetone cut out excess cuticles slightly file top nail layer but only a bit you don't want to damage the nail apply base coat cure it ( sometimes I'm not sure if it's for doing longer nail only or not but if you research or maybe already know some people use dehydrator on the nail after filing and then ph balance product and then base coat and when you apply the colour usually 2 coats are recommend then you do top coat there is also matt top coat which is making the nail not shiny and it look as beautiful as the shiny one 😉
My bf did the same thing!! Good man u are! (Shes still needs the pedi sometimes: )
The most satisfying thing about doing ombre nails is when you apply the top coat and it smoothes everything out. Love it!
Hi,
I am new doing it, so I would like to ask you, what top coat do you use? because when I apply my top coat, I don't achieve a smooth nail surface =(
Same
I get the fabulous soft thing
I think so too, this is very beautiful. When I'm doing nails, I usually use it with the Makartt air nail dryer, which is very fast.
i was your 1000th like :)
putting top coat on any manicure and seeing it soothing everything up is my ASMR

@@91madlove what
that’s not asmr
@@berra4215 it can be for some people
Does the top coat go on while still kinda wet, or should the colors completely dry?
You can also get the sponges at the dollar tree! For my broke babes 😘
Omg ty - I seriously want to do this to my nails but I'm on a small budget atm.
Girlll aren’t now reason to spend extra money on something you are going to throw away anyway!!!
@@DevanEvie Sally Hanson nail polish is only 2.99$ at Target btw
@@lmvicente1 exactly!
Bro in blue 4 me sally Hansen is at the dollar store so it’s 1.50
The sponge should be wet too. Found out a long time ago...no one ever says this for some reason and it feels A LOT. And top coat after the first initial color helps alleviate any unwanted issues as well.
This probably makes me sound super trashy, but I use elmers glue all around my nail as a barrier every time I paint my nails!
It works and when you're broke as hell like I am, it's a good idea to buy a larger bottle!
Chickenfarmer10 you can just use liquid latex from a craft store, and use a tooth pick to apply it (you have to dab around your cuticles until you are happy) you get a large bottle as well.
Chickenfarmer10...What’s trashy about being money-smart? If it works for you then go ahead and don’t look back! I’m going to try Elmer’s glue now lol xo
Hunni, ain't nothing trashy about that at all. You were smart! You improvised. Bet it did the job! 😉
Me too.. lol

Using tape to clean my sponge is a game changer, it's picking up the small bits of sponge that would otherwise be stamped onto my nails. Life changing, thanks Gabby❤️
How do you do that kindly help
This was very informative. I've been doing ombre's for awhile, but I still learned a thing or two. Mainly, to let the polish dry in-between coats. I'm sure that will make a huge difference. Thanks.
Amy Sue West cf
Amy Sue West it really does!💕
Amy Sue West always great to learn something new!!!
.
Yes, this is very convenient. I recommend the Makartt Air Nail Dryer for use. The drying speed is very fast and it is recommended!
IDK why but the red protecting thing on the finger is creeping me out. Looks like no skin!
cheonjae yeoja 😂😂 in the past people thought it was my actual finger
Is that red tape available in online stores?
@@annestuarttv yes
omg I see it now...
cheonjae yeoja cheap way elmers school glue to protect skin
Great tips. Instagram nail artists make ombre seem super easy, but it's tricky. The three mistakes I used to make when I first tried ombre were: not waiting enough for the layers to dry and not cutting the sponge enough times, so I was getting little pieces of it all over my nails. I also used to pick super random colors. So my ombres were ugly, not matching at all and it was harder to blend the colors. I think those three are the most common mistakes. I'm still not great at it, (mostly because I rarely do ombres) but nowadays I don't make those mistakes anymore. It's so fun to experiment! 😊😊
My biggest anxiety is trying to find compatible colors. Lol
@@christinaleister1387 tell me about it hahahaha
Please can I use any colour of sponge
@@abaforiwaprah2704 yes, you can. But bear in mind that colors need to blend. So if you pick two colors that are completely on opposite sides of the color wheel, such as red and blue, the gradient effect will be harder to achieve if you're a beginner.
Try to combine colors that are on the same range. Such as yellow and green, pink and purple, white gray and black, etc.
Where do I get the tape from?
Patience is a virtue😥guilty for no letting it totally dry😥
I know, right? Although they look amazing, it takes and eternity to do every nail. I don't have the patience for it anymore.
same, i am impatient for the drying process!!
this is why I use gel instead 😅
Some of my best DOs look like your DON'Ts lol
LMAO same 😂
Same 😂
Can relate
Lolololol... Right
Another tip: a white base is not necessarily needed. As long as you've applied a base coat ( a sticky coat works best) you'll have a successful ombre (also follow Angeliques tips)
another tip: Cut the sponge in half length wise with a very sharp scissor. This way you wont get so much polish on your skin
Use one piece for each hand apply polish for each finger because you'll have consistent color on each finger. After sponging your 5 fingers (for each half) cut that piece off horizontally and start fresh for your next coat (don't forget to wait 3 mins per coat.
Another tip a lint roller works well to eliminate the pices left behind when you cut the sponge.
This is legitimately the best ombre video I've ever seen! You answered so many questions about what went wrong the other times I've tried doing ombre.... I followed your advice and I'm SO happy with how my nails turned out this time! Thank you so much!
YOU ARE AWESOME !! I have looked all over RUclips for the way to do ombre nails. You are the FIRST one I have run across that have actually explained step by step on how to do Ombre Nails. I know the others may have tried, but you are very exceptional at explaining things. You explained a couple steps that I was not doing and should have been doing but couldn't understand why my nails weren't turning out right. Thank you SOOOO MUCH for sharing this with everyone.... I did hit the like button and I did subscribe to your channel. I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for me and others to learn that may not know. Thanks again ! (one thing though, I couldn't understand what you used to wrap around your nails to guard your fingers against the polish)
This is by far the most informative DIY ombre video I've seen. It's the little details - like applying the ombre in separate coats - that sets your tutorial apart from the rest. I can't wait to try your method. Subscribed!
I have to say this is the best video on ombré nails that I've come across. The examples helped a lot and I appreciated how to the point it was :D thank you!!
THE DONT SIDE IS SO ME! I just watched ur striping tape vid and omg u r great. Subscribed.

The clarity in your videos is astonishing and I love how beautifully you explain it all.
The best ombré nails video I’ve seen yet! Thank you for getting right to the biggest mistakes and pro tips!
This is a great tutorial. I’m planning on doing my nails tonight after work & I wanna try ombré. Thank you! Very informative
Been waiting on an informative video on this and tips on how yo actually do this! I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong because other videos make it seem like you can do it with wet polish but now I know! Thanks!
Omg thank you!! I've been watching lots of videos of how to's and never can seem to get it. Yours by far is so much more understandable and I'm more confident to do them right after watching this video!!
I’m so glad you posted this video. I do my own nails, love French tip but have never mastered the technique. Maybe now with your help, proper tools & practice I’ll finally get it right. Thank you, thank you!!
I love that color combo. I've never done ombre on my nails but I'm definitely gonna try this today
Great video with awesome tips Thankyou! I am in love the mustard and maroon ombre design at the end!
Gabby you are an excellent teacher. Love how detailed, clear and fast u bring the info! You can always tell a real nail pro by the SPACE BEFORE THE CUTICLE!!
Before they were ever gel or UV nails, old school manicurists w SKILL made a perfect curve at the base of the polish… just a fraction from the cuticle. It’s an aesthetic thing as much as it protects the cuticle because taking polish right to your cuticle not only doesn’t grow out well (jagged) but doesn’t make the separation between colour and skin look as nice. Can’t wait to see the rest of your work. Thank you from T.O.
i think this might be the best tutorial for ombre nails i've seen!! i'll be buying sponges this week and trying this technique again, i'm excited!!
This video got me subscribing, girl! Soooo good! I've been frustrated trying to do ombre nails and it's because I was doing every don't! Now on to binging all your videos...
Painted my nails for the first time and everyone was super impressed lol
Thank you! :D
I love that you explained the process well and detailed. I followed your advice and finally did ombre nails on myself 💖💅 thank you
Love the tip about cutting the sponge off! Been doing my own ombre nails with makeup sponges for years but never once did I think of saving sponges by cutting them like that. 😅
THANK YOU!!! I now know why, my Ombre, looked a mess. Giving it another try today, with my favorite greens. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
Ohhhh you have to wait for it ahhh i see thank you ma'am been rushing the whole process down and not drying the layers
Ur nailpaint colours are beyond amazing
The best ombre mani tutorial I have ever seen! Can't wait to try this!
Amazing! I love how you made this easy to use!
Ahhh this helped me so much! I’m realizing everything I’m doing wrong. Can’t wait to try again
I have to say it's really relaxing and entertaining to watch your videos, and your nail polish techniques are AMAZING!
I love this look. Very helpful video, thank you. The maroon and black look is SO gorgeous!
I have attempted ombre nails several times and I did okay, but it seemed to take me about 6 years to do all of my nails 😫 (much to my hubby's amusement!) He's actually excellent at helping me choose colors and loves to see my nails once I've completed them! Thank you Gabby for this excellent and easy-to-follow tutorial; I had given up on attempting ombre nails, but I will try again using your fabulous tips and ideas!! 💜💅💫😀
The last one is GORGEOUS!!!! I love how seamless the gradient is 😍😍😍💛🧡❤️
That is my favorite one.
honestly, your videos are just so helpful they just make me so excited about nails all over again 🌺🌺🌺
Those colors you used are so pretty!! ❤
I really like this method, very beautiful! I recommend using the Makartt Air Nail Dryer for nails, which is very fast and saves a lot of time.
This was PERFECT!! Thank you so much for this video!! I can’t wait to try for myself!
you're so talented, thank you for posting all these tips that really make a big difference ❤ your videos
I love ombre nails, always so pretty and timeless! Thanks for sharing :)
Just tried it for the first time and omg I love it! Wish I could show you!
Thanks so much! I did an ombré on my sister’s pedicure of black and like a diamond glitter polish and it looked great so the next time she came she wanted to do a brown and gold and for some reason I couldn’t get it to work now I know it’s because I didn’t put down a base color! I could not figure out why the 1st ombré I did looked so awesome but the 2nd just would not ombré plus she is super impatient so she just wanted it to all go on @ once & so by not allowing me time to dry in between it was just awful now I know what my mistakes were as well as important info to make all my other ombré designs look fab. This was very helpful thanks again!
This video is therapy!!
So soothing!
thank you so much gabby!! your videos inspired me to try my own nail art, youve made it really accessible and understandable and thanks to you i did my first ombre nails yesterday and they turned out great!!!
Thanks love for making my life much more easier 😌
I've never heard of Ombre nails, until today. I would assume that these would cost an arm and leg at a shop. This was beautiful. New Sub from Hawai'i. Aloha!
I loved this 💕💕 it was short, straight to the point and informative 🥰
Yay! It worked. I'm finally able to do this. I now have another technique in my nail art arsenal. Thank you so much!
These are great. Can you collect your Dos & Donts into a playlist on your channel. I was trying to find them all and realized you don't have them organized in one place and since they're a series, it'll make it easier for your viewers to view the series without searching through all ur vids
Tt
*THANK YOU.*
*I just tried my first ombré style nail polish and holy shit it was much more difficult without these important steps! Thank you so so so much!😂*
Thank u so much, this is so helpful. I've never tried it before, because I thought, it would be so complicated, but this looks so beautiful 😍
So good, easiest ombré tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you!
This saved my nail art... Thank u!
Thank you for the tips. I did my first ombre last night. It came out ok but seeing this video has helped me to see what/where I went wrong. Will do a better job next time I do my nails 💅 😌. Thank you! 💘❤
Sandra Senn no problem, I’m glad they helped💕
This is great, started learning to do nails for my teen daughters formal events. She wanted to try an ombre and this helped so much. Did use a few test nail sticks to practice.
Just gotta say, they all look amazing! I can’t wait to try this myself! 🤩
Love the ombre colors you picked. We are nail color twinsies!
This was amazing I actually learned EVERYTHING in this video I was about to try my first ombré nail art just now and I would NOT have known to let it dry in between sponges and I probably would have started on a wet base my thinking would have been wet polish on wet polish how can it hurt?? 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I’m SO SO SO glad I came across this tutorial NEW SUBSCRIBER
I've been doing my nails wrong this whole time!!! Love this video simple and explained soo well!
Using the end of the sponge and cutting it was you need to is a GREAT idea! I'm going to try that!
Thanks so much! I keep messing up when trying ombre nails. This is the most informative video I've seen. I mastered stamping and was depressed I couldn't do it over ombre. I'm going to try it right now!
Hahaha I am guilty of not letting it dry :( haha 😅
Angelica Palomino Mira stai ma Pe mine mă cheamă

New follower!!! I've been doing my own dip nails for almost 2 years now and have been wanting to try ombre but was scared. I've looked up so many videos and found one that I love and will be using. But I love, love, love yours and will definitely be doing it ASAP!😍Thanks so much. I appreciate you and your awesome easy to follow teaching methods.🥰❤️❤️🥰
I've tried a purple to black ombre THREE TIMES and have failed miserably. Your video makes so much sense and I'm going to try once more with your tips/wisdom :). Thanks so much!!!
This helped a lot! I had gotten a box of 2 nail polishes specifically for ombre nails, and it did not give clear directions.
You kinda sound like AlexandrasGirlyTalk
Yaaaaas
She sounds EXACTLY like Alexandra..
So you too think she sounds like someone else.
@@Umitelikeme she just "sounds" not "is" so dont act like she's ACTUALLY comparing her to someone else🙄🙄😑🤭🤭
for the longest time i thought they were the same person because i never look at the names :^))
Great video and tips! Definitely going to start trimming/cutting my sponges now. I also use sponges to make glitter polishes go on opaque for max sparkly-ness. Loved this, thanks!! Also, I just love having multi-functional things over single use stuff (space and $ saver) when I first heard about this I had Elmers on hand so I cleaned out an old nail polish bottle and filled it with Elmers and just brush it on as you would with the store bought. Works for me!
One of the best detailed ombre videos ❤️❤️
Ohhh my Gabby i love your swatchs your explanation is Very easy and excellent thank you love you kisses
I am so so glad I found this video! I recently started getting into nail art, but I was a little scared to try ombre nails. Now that I know what to do I'm definitely going to try it! Thank you :)
I love this! I thought I had a good handle on this Ombré thing. But you showed me a few things I did not know! Thank you!!
Super useful, thank you!! I'm just starting to do my own nails and this was completely clear. Getting some sponges ASAP!!
Gabby: use makeup sponges
Me: *finds painting sponge*
I'm rushing to the kitchen, I think I've got an unwrapped dish sponge!
don’t feel bad i cut open a squishy to as as a sponge
I found your channel last night. I've been binging on it. I need to get nails now. I had to subscribe.
Gabby thank you for this video. I have tried ombre in the past with less than pretty results. Your video has given me the tips and confidence to try it again. Here's hoping your nails heal quickly.
loved this! I'm not sure if it was my speakers but the volume of your voice was quite soft. Thank you for a great video!
Your gradients are just perfect👌🏼🤩🤩🤩 what i always do wrong I oversponge the design... 🙈 so guilty of it 😅
GosiaPio thank you! I used to oversponge too and then try to pick out the chunks 🤦🏽♀️😂
Gabby Morris i am leaving them😅😂the worst thing ever🙈 this is why i dont do gradients very often. I will practice though, you motivated me💪🏼☺️
Thanks for the tips
Elizabeth Escobar Gomez 💗💗
Love your colour combinations especially the peach one
How freaking pretty! I love that shade of pink with gray 🤩🤩
I wish you've shown how you're putting the red thing (to protect your skin) because I can never do that right 😭 I don't know what am I doing wrong and yours looks perfect
Ada Szumiejko oh man I didn’t even think of doing that😭 I just wrap it around my cuticle, and then pull it slightly to make any adjustments and I know that probably doesn’t explain anything at all🤦🏽♀️
You have so many beautiful Polishes oh my God. 2:20
Wow, that maroon one is GORGEOUS.
i love these series good job
omg you are a goddess THANK YOU SO MUCH you should’ve seen what my “ombré” looked like before i watched this video ahahah

What mustard yellow nail polish is that? It's so unique.
Grey poupon.....

School yard stomped on USA brand....
That was really helpful and really simple. Great video. Now I can't wait for the colors I want to use to get here.
Your dos and don’ts videos are amazing. Thank you!
Gabby, can these ombre tips be done with gel polish???
Nope...🙂🤗
Is the top coat supposed to be applied after the ombré is dry? Or as it is still a bit tacky so that it blends together? I wasn’t too sure if that makes any sense 😂 I find that if the bottom has dried incredibly bumpy, it stays that way when I apply the top coat. Just wanna be sure
Paola Rodriguez hmm personally I always apply my top coat once my ombré is dry and it does still smooth out! If it is still bumpy you could be over sponging your nail which forms more bumps and also little pieces of the sponge could be getting onto your nail! Try only dabbing a few times with each layer💗
Gabby Morris thank you :)
very helpful, I've been doing a lot of mistakes. Gonna try this again, thank you for sharing!
Finally! A well done ombré tutorial 👍
