    You don't need those fancy (and *expensive!*) spherical sponges. You can do the same thing with a cheap cosmetic wedge that you can get 10 or 20 for a dollar at any dollar or discount store. I suppose they are one pound stores where you live, though.

    • @NailsbySarahBurchett
      @NailsbySarahBurchett  5 лет назад +15

      These weren't expensive though. I have tried other sponges and couldn't get it as good.

    • @queenshad1161
      @queenshad1161 5 лет назад +10

      calichef1962 I’ve used the wedge sponges and I always have an issue with the little pieces of the sponge getting on the nails. Like, since the gel is so sticky, it rips little pieces of the sponge and is annoying to try to get off.

    This does look amazingly easy! Only downside I can see is for ladies like me who don't use the long artificial nails, but rather have medium to long natural nails, and that downside is that it will definitely require the peelable latex on the skin around the nail, or you'll have a real mess to clean up. But this is definitely something to try, since I'm NUTS for the ombre effect, and have all the necessary materials (peelable latex, those small sponges, and a palette on which to smudge the color around). I've had fair to middling success with the ombre brushes, but find them unwieldy, since the long strands tend to glop up with color. This method here looks easy enough to make it worth the extra step of the latex around the nail.
    Also, any thoughts -- from anyone who might be reading this! -- on the fat "oblique french" to create the ombre effect? I've tried it once, and it was easier than the wispy ombre brushes. May I suggest a video on the use of that brush? I've searched thoroughly for videos or even pics of the use of those fat oblique brushes, and have found VERY little.

      It's just nail polish. It comes off easily enough. If you don't like the results you're getting just wipe it away before curing. If it's cured and you don't like it, use your regular method to remove it, soaking or filing off. Yeah, you might need another coat of top coat, but so what? It's not a big deal. It's just nail polish.

    Hi. So I tried this today for the first time, because my acrylic ombre was a fail. However, this was a fail for me too. It looks ok, but if you look closely, you can see the porous sponge effect. Do you think it's because I need a thicker white gel or do I need to do more coats? TIA 😊 I wish I could include a photo to show you what I mean.

    • @NailsbySarahBurchett

      @sandee barnes
      I clean the sponges by dabbing in alcohol, and then dabbing on a paper towel until nothing more comes off. The sponge might still have some color, but they work just fine afterwards. I use them until they fall apart.
