Nevan Slone great gag but I’m a sucker for slapstick and love the ‘struck from something from his childhood’ as he turns about to say something and smashed in the face by a puppet

When Michael says "I don't mean to impugn on your ability," you can see Rita sounding out the word, impugn, to herself, not knowing what Michael was talking about.
I noticed but I also thought it was her repeating impugn as if to say "is this guy for real?" First time watching I did not see that coming, I just thought she was kind of strange lol
I think one of the most overlooked jokes is that a city in Cali operates on British time zones XD if my math is right thats an 8 hour difference so they would open everything up at midnight and close at 1 pm
I think the whole idea of wee Britain is so preposterous though, so I'm not sure if the time zone thing stands out very much, though I guess you may be correct in that many people don't realise how massive the time difference actually is. Since British people are pretty similar to Americans in most regards, they integrate probably better than any other immigrants (besides Canadians I guess), so the idea of wee Britain even existing makes no sense, nevermind the unrealistic elements such as driving on the left side of the road, using the British currency, etc.. And then there's the "Itsy Bitsy IRA", and the fact that wee Britain actually contains an American-style restaurant. So we're already pretty divorced from reality!
"Preschool only goes 'half-day', right?" That whole "half-day" running gag was one of the best in the show. "Army had half-day" is what I tell everyone when I don't go to work.
One of my problems with this arc was that it wasn't obvious enough that Rita was mentally challenged until after the reveal, but in hindsight I can't help but notice it. Very clever writing.
The for British eyes only gag is one of those things that are objectively not funny, but somehow absolutely deathly hysterical in the context of the show 😂
Rita really loved Michael, and I think he loved her too.. but you know.. she's.. mentally challenged. It wouldn't be morally right, and I suppose it would also be quite a stress after a while. but damn did it make for some amazing comedy, and Charlize plays the part so damn well.
@@ZeranZeran I agree on possibility of being quite a stress after a while, but question it be being morally wrong. I love that the two British characters are played by a Canadian and a South African. Then again two Canadians are playing two Americans (GOB and George Michael)
Rita reminds me of Peter Sellers's character in "Being There." Everyone assumes what they say has some deeper meaning or is self-deprecating humor instead of taking them literally.
Charlize theron is such a masterful actor. Its ridiculously amazing, how anyone can do what she did. The only show that comes close to this level of funny, and genius, is the office uk
"I hate it when they hire Yanks to play brits, you can always tell" - Rita hehe, it's like a 2 layer joke. First I thought she was British, then I was amazed she was american... then I realized she's not! She also speaks Afrikaans beautifully.
