Use your thumb ,use your pinky for the b and e and numb the big E, and you can do that for all barre chords..

I find thumb over makes it easier to change into the F faster

No need for true barre chords except for hard rock on electric guitar,,acoustic a bit different,,check your neck relief at the 7th or 8th fret. Should just be able to fit a credit card under it...around .008 or .010
