Well put. I do a lot of what you're saying subconsciously. You have shown years of experience in minutes to those who can grasp it. Well done! From Jamie Butler of the generation who stretched tapes and scratched records to learn our craft. I reckon you'd be a cool guy to jam with. Come to Clare South Australia, we have beer, wine, amazing food and many things you would love. But we love sunday jam sessions especially.

Hello Chris first time watching you. I’m 65 years old retired around five years ago always wanted to learn to play electric guitar. I’ve been playing on my own because it cost too much to take lessons with that. I hope you have more videos for beginners like me, and I have trouble with the C cord no mater what I do . I always hit the bottom string. My strings are eight and he suggestions on the strings. I hope you have videos on beginners with the chords. Thanks.

The C chord is tricky! Might try muting the thickest with ring finger (or any finger). Also messing with your wrist placement can help the fretting hand with muting. Much trial and error is involved, and if you can find a decent sounding C to play some tunes with you can fine tune it, but best to jump in with some playing and applying it.
I’ll be back with more beginner lessons for sure.

@@chrisfireymusic thanks I’m learning to try and stay with one person instead of me jump around watching so many videos. I like the way you teach. I hope we have lessons my goal at my age. I like to challenge myself and learn and playing the guitar is a hobby and they have fun, but sometimes it does get frustrating. I’m trying to ease and just enjoy and play, thank you my goal is to play rock ‘n’ roll example AC/DC songs and smoke on the water, which is good for beginners. That’s my goal again thank you.

You show on the chord diagram a square indicating a muted string. What do you mean by that? Thanks.

I, and many others, occasionally mute underneath one of our fretting fingers, un under finger mute, in that case under your middle finger, let it touch the A string barely and it’ll mute. I discuss that in the video too.

Very helpful video. But the audio and video being out of sync is really distracting.
