I'm Honduran and like to spend time there. Your video is on point.👍 The reason Honduran people look so different is because they have several native tribes that are different racially. Mayans, Tolupanes, Misquitos, and Garifuna are native tribes but look different from one another. Some are brown, some are copper, some have that aboriginal color, etc. then you have waves of immigrants everything from Spanish, Irish, Jews, Palestinians, and Africans. Even black people differ themselves from one another. You have the Garifunas that were African slaves that escaped their captors before reaching their destination. Garifunas tend to be more African ethnic looking. The other group of blacks are "Negros Ingleses" which were freed slaves from England. These guys tend to be more like the bloodline of NFL players since they have great physical features and usually have their slave owners names like Smith, Thomas, Johnson, etc. They pride themselves on not being directly african since most today are biracial. Then. you have the Misquitos which are short and stout. Then you have "Caracoles"(slang term which means "seashell") which are those blacks from the Bay Islands that aren't garifuna nor are freed slaves; they tend to be biracial and usually speak English with a Caribbean accent. There were parts of Honduras where you have predominantly white people like in the department(state) of Santa barbara which was migrated by Irish in the mid-1800's. They was once also once an Indian migration when freed indentured slave workers from nearby countries that replaced African slaves after England abolished slavery and wealthy english sugar cane plantation owners were left scrambling for laborers. So there's everything in Honduras.

I love visiting Honduras! I've found the people to be very welcoming, kind and humble. The food is amazing. I love Tela, Punta Sal, Cayos Cochinos, Trujillo and Sambo Creek. Going back in August & can't wait. There's so much to see & do there.

Among Latinos, they know Honduras women are gorgeous, non Latinos are barely exploring that, hopefully stays that way, we don't need another Medellin, also the country is 90% mestizo, the islands were under British rule for a couple hundred years, the address is rather easy in San pedro sula, if you know the quadrants, when they say 9st 8th Ave NO, it means northwest, and then the house number ex: casa 1234 9 ave means the house is on 9th Ave 8th st, means the closer street is 8th, stay safe.

My husband is from Honduras. Him, my one year old son (at the time), and I went to visit the country in 2018. His family lives in Tegucigalpa, so that is where we spent our time. Everyone was kind that I met. The city surprised me in that I expected there to be much more vegetation than there was. It was mostly dirt where trees or grass should be. When we traveled to the coast for a day I saw lots of vegetation and hills. I am not sure why the city did not have much. Since we stayed with family I never paid attention to how different the addresses were there.

Tegucigalpa like any big city is mostly an urban jungle devoid of natural life. Visit the Coastal regions next time, much less crime too. Oh, these convoluted antiquated system of numbering houses. My address reads, green house across from Yellow apartments, a block from a mini market. Amuse yourself with this, I recently went to get my drivers license, where I was told I could not take the drivers test in shorts and sandals (sandals I could kind of understand). Bachata started in Honduras. My wife is Dominican and bachata is huge there. It is my favorite music and has been for years. I lived in Tegucigalpa Honduras in 1998-2000 was there when the worst hurricane in 300 years in the Caribbean had a direct hit on Honduras. I left my heart in Honduras

Im now traveling in Honduras and used the local busses to go from the border copan to santa rosa then san pedro sula and now im on Utila. In the four days I was in the country I didn't met or see any tourist, really cool!

Sure, you'll find some idiots somewhere, but overall, people will be welcoming. 2:15 Yes there is a lot of MESOAMERICAN culture in Honduras. Mexico and Central America share ancestors, so a lot of what you'll see in Mexico, you'll see it here. Also, we used to be a part of the Mexican Empire before becoming the Federal Repubic of Central America and eventually dividing into the five nations we now know. 2:47 Yes. Bachata is the most listened genre. Then we can mention reggaeton and punta. Since we are very caribbean-like, the noisier the music is, the better the party will be. I don't like any of those genres (except fr punta), but I can understand why my fellow hondurans love them. 4:02 Beaches and coral reefs are the international standard for honduran tourism, but the western side of the country, the mayan part, is also visited by many, mostly europeans. 4:32 A way to make tourism more flexible is to allow USD into the accepted currencies, so yes, the more touristic the place is, the more USD will be accepted. Tegucigalpa does not accept USD. 4:42 Bay islands used to be British, so english is the main language, but you'll also be able to speak english in the rest of the country. Garifuna is completely unknown in mainland Honduras. Main languages are spanish and english. 5:48 Honduran women ARE gorgeous. In my adventuresi've noticed honduran women are underrated, as they not only have nice facial traits, but also interesting body types. We are used to simply mention reference points or street names, but never an actual building number. For instance, an adress here in the surrounding areas of Tegucigalpa would be: Km.8 1/2 (kilometer or mile in which the building is located), RN 25 (name of the road), "plaza blue moon" (building name) That's pretty much it. I've enjoyed this series and hope you come back for more. Try Copan Ruins, Talgua caves or Lancetilla Botanic garden (second largest in the planet). Also come to the capital, there's cool museums and you'll find that the city is different from what we are all used to see, as it used to be a mining town named Teguz Galpa (silver mountains), which makes the city very unique, with narrow streets and very steep terrains. Crime is high only in the slums, but you won't find much danger in downtown areas.

I'll be visiting several cities in Honduras in June. Curious to know how much Spanish is spoken in Roatán? Half the reason I travel is so I can use my Spanish, not really loving the idea of being in a place where I won't be able to speak much Spanish. Looking forward to visiting San Pedro Sula though, much more so than Roatán.
@@rodneysocial6985 The Bay Islands' primary language is English, but people do speak Spanish. If you want beaches close to SPS, go to La Ceiba. You'll be able to visit Lancetilla Botanic Garden there (second largest in the world), eat baleadas and enjoy some Punta. There you can speak Spanish and take a Ferri to Roatán so that you don't lose the experience :D
Go to the mainland too! Great scenary, beautiful mountains and lakes, colonial cities like Comayagua and Siguatepeque, Tegucigalpa, the capital, is Great, lots of art, culture and history here and on the west you have Copán Ruins, which used to he one of the most advanced cities of the Mayan civilization. The coast is great, World class but theres lot more to do in the rest of the country
My family are from there I recommend to go to Pulhapanzak a well known waterfall you can stay in at their small huts and zip line in front of the waterfall. It's located at San Buenaventura 😁
If I remember correctly, the addresses in Cuba are structured that way also. I believe the first part gives the driver/person an approximation instead of driving the entire length looking for a number.

I just said the exact same thing. I’ve told my grandma (who’s from Choluteca, Honduras) that Honduras never had a problem with school shootings before. Nor El Salvador (My dads from there) even tho El Salvador’s biggest problem is Gang violence, but still no school shooting. I was born in L.A. and I’ve visited Honduras and El Salvador and one of the things I’ve noticed about people over there is that most them work hard everyday, including kids younger than me. There’s also less crazy people over there than there is here.

Bachata, merengue, but punta it is part of their culture. The Bachata and merengue back in the day they were some hundurans musicians integrated with dominicans music bands.

My friends and i traveled there a few times back in the early 90s . You are right. Very underrated. We visited Tegucigalpal , sand perdro Sula, el Progresso etc. Punta is the general music there ,paranda,bachata,Caribean salsa ,comba,reggae ,merengue, etc . You are right about the addresses.Tegucigalpa interesting. Very steep decent and crazy climb for the planes so most people would not land at that airport but would go to sand perdro Sula and drive back to Tegucigalpa. We wanted to experience what most tourist would never experience so we had connected with local friends there . It was not so bad as it is now .but enjoyed every moment of it . Traveling to the mountains,the incas ruines ,etc .the clubs In Tegucigalpa awesome!curves galore. No RUclips then.love your videos reminded me of what I did without RUclips from South East Asia,central and South America and even Europe.
Mayan Ruins, Incas are from South America, clubs are great only problem is they close too early, around 2 or 3 am in Tegucigalpa, its a bit different from City to city and on few dates they stay open all night, come again anytime you like
I'm American livin in Roatan for 7 years. I've never even seen a fight in roatan. Maybe nobody yelling. Its possible to make a friend for life holding the door for someone. The people are amazing. The only thing thats alarming is the police/security with military grade guns everywhere but I always wonder why do they need the big guns when I havent seen any crime? Maybe them having the guns is the reason there isn't any crime? Who knows but I feel unbelievably safe. roatan 🇭🇳🇭🇳🇭🇳
Roatan is definitely the safest area in Honduras. It's not by accident! I wish they apply the same effort on the mainland. A local shared with me how someone tried to import the extortion business against Cabs. Within a week he was found floating in water.

Bring stationed at Soto Como was the best 2 years of my life. This was back in the early 2000s. Befriended some of the Hondurans also stationed there, would invite me back to their towns they were from in rural Honduras. Don’t get me started on the women. Lol,I’m Glad I was single back then

@@mierypesado6740 Belize City is ok. The casino is pretty decent but keep your head on a swivel. My taxi driver there won't drive at night because of the murders. A woman tried to steal my phone which could happen anywhere. Most tourism is on the islands. Mayan ruin tours are great and relatively safe. Zip lining, cave tubing are about an hour away from Belize city. San Pedro Island is the party spot. Bring mosquito repellent.
Honduras and it's people are so beautiful!! I would move to Roatan in a second if I could. The beaches,the wildlife,the people.... I love it all! I visit EVERY chance I get. I really need to make plans to explore more of it;I just keep ending up back in/near Roatan.
I can vouch for USD not being accepted anywhere else in Honduras, besides Roatan. I think the Hondurans understand the importance of being friendly especially when you’re in business. There are many places you can buy the same thing, so it helps to be friendly. Forget about addresses, most of the time it will be based on a specific business. For example if I live one block south of Pollolandia, it will be The Neighborhood name, and then where your house is in relation to Pollolandia. Tegucigalpa has street names.

Lived in Honduras for 3 1/2 years. Been to some nice beaches after living in south Fl, Tampa and visiting Greece. The best one I've been to are in Roatan. Tela is a close second. Friendly people and food is good. A typical Honduran breakfast is much better than one at a fast food establishment. Recommend not wearing your best watch, necklace, etc.. Leave that at home or in your hotel/motel room. No need to temp people to rob you.

Some insight on address (Im honduran) Those weird numbers are autogenerated, we DON'T DO ADDRESSES, everything is reference based. You'll need to ask someone and they will tell you " yeah go to X landmark, 3 blocks right, 2 blocks leftf, you will then see a dog peeing on a tree or an old lady sitting outside, or a red truck...., then 2 houses from there" .... The dog, the lady or the car will always be there. This is no joke XD
The address issue is a thing really highlighted even in our country, but that's mainly in Tegucigalpa, not all cities are like that, the reasons are historical, and people are not guilty about its design (I know you're not pointing out the people, but just as a fact).
Really appreciate these videos, as I'll be in Honduras in about2 weeks (June 13), visiting San Pedro Sula, Copán Ruinas and Roatán. Curious to know if Uber or some other ride sharing service is there and any advice or tips is welcome.
SPS has Uber. Tegucigalpa too. Concerning advice, idk. If you, for some weird reason, want to travel through city surroundings and slums, just make sure you don't wear nike shoes and shirts with an "18" or "13" on them. Try to appear lectured on food prices as people tend to sell stuff with higher prices to tourists. A Baleada, for example, shouldn't cost you more than 25 lps. If you visit Copán, PLEASE try Copan Dry, our national drink. Particularly the banana one. After that, just enjoy. There's nothing other-wordly about Honduras, as media often portrays it. SPS, for example, will feel just as any other city in a developed nation. Beautiful streets, sunny day, nice buildings, restaurants, luxury. Really nothing to worry about.
The weird address format is actually a Google thing. When Google can't determine an official address they use that format with letter and numbers with the + sign.
My Mom was from Honduras from San Pedro sula and met my Dad that was a America from Champaign Illinois and we haven't been back since 2012 it looks like everything is decent done thier.And I don't have a good relationship with my relative's at all so I am just going to chill bye myself and go be sad somewhere else but try to enjoy it 😊 and stay positive and just be in my Illinois world 😊💯

The reason Honduran people look so different is because they have several native tribes that are different racially. Mayans, Tolupanes, Misquitos, and Garifuna are native tribes but look different from one another. Some are brown, some are copper, some have that aboriginal color, etc. then you have waves of immigrants everything from Spanish, Irish, Jews, Palestinians, and Africans. Even black people differ themselves from one another. You have the Garifunas that were African slaves that escaped their captors before reaching their destination. Garifunas tend to be more African ethnic looking. The other group of blacks are "Negros Ingleses" which were freed slaves from England. These guys tend to be more like the bloodline of NFL players since they have great physical features and usually have their slave owners names like Smith, Thomas, Johnson, etc. They pride themselves on not being directly african since most today are biracial. Then. you have the Misquitos which are short and stout. Then you have "Caracoles"(slang term which means "seashell") which are those blacks from the Bay Islands that aren't garifuna nor are freed slaves; they tend to be biracial and usually speak English with a Caribbean accent. There were parts of Honduras where you have predominantly white people like in the department(state) of Santa barbara which was migrated by Irish in the mid-1800's. They was once also once an Indian migration when freed indentured slave workers from nearby countries that replaced African slaves after England abolished slavery and wealthy english sugar cane plantation owners were left scrambling for laborers.
So there's everything in Honduras.

Among Latinos, they know Honduras women are gorgeous, non Latinos are barely exploring that, hopefully stays that way, we don't need another Medellin, also the country is 90% mestizo, the islands were under British rule for a couple hundred years, the address is rather easy in San pedro sula, if you know the quadrants, when they say 9st 8th Ave NO, it means northwest, and then the house number ex: casa 1234 9 ave means the house is on 9th Ave 8th st, means the closer street is 8th, stay safe.

My husband is from Honduras. Him, my one year old son (at the time), and I went to visit the country in 2018. His family lives in Tegucigalpa, so that is where we spent our time. Everyone was kind that I met. The city surprised me in that I expected there to be much more vegetation than there was. It was mostly dirt where trees or grass should be. When we traveled to the coast for a day I saw lots of vegetation and hills. I am not sure why the city did not have much. Since we stayed with family I never paid attention to how different the addresses were there.

That's pretty much it. I've enjoyed this series and hope you come back for more. Try Copan Ruins, Talgua caves or Lancetilla Botanic garden (second largest in the planet). Also come to the capital, there's cool museums and you'll find that the city is different from what we are all used to see, as it used to be a mining town named Teguz Galpa (silver mountains), which makes the city very unique, with narrow streets and very steep terrains. Crime is high only in the slums, but you won't find much danger in downtown areas.

I'll be visiting several cities in Honduras in June. Curious to know how much Spanish is spoken in Roatán? Half the reason I travel is so I can use my Spanish, not really loving the idea of being in a place where I won't be able to speak much Spanish.

@@rodneysocial6985 The Bay Islands' primary language is English, but people do speak Spanish. If you want beaches close to SPS, go to La Ceiba. You'll be able to visit Lancetilla Botanic Garden there (second largest in the world), eat baleadas and enjoy some Punta. There you can speak Spanish and take a Ferri to Roatán so that you don't lose the experience :D

Great scenary, beautiful mountains and lakes, colonial cities like Comayagua and Siguatepeque, Tegucigalpa, the capital, is Great, lots of art, culture and history here and on the west you have Copán Ruins, which used to he one of the most advanced cities of the Mayan civilization. The coast is great, World class but theres lot more to do in the rest of the country
My family are from there I recommend to go to Pulhapanzak a well known waterfall you can stay in at their small huts and zip line in front of the waterfall. It's located at San Buenaventura 😁
If I remember correctly, the addresses in Cuba are structured that way also. I believe the first part gives the driver/person an approximation instead of driving the entire length looking for a number.

I just said the exact same thing. I’ve told my grandma (who’s from Choluteca, Honduras) that Honduras never had a problem with school shootings before. Nor El Salvador (My dads from there) even tho El Salvador’s biggest problem is Gang violence, but still no school shooting. I was born in L.A. and I’ve visited Honduras and El Salvador and one of the things I’ve noticed about people over there is that most them work hard everyday, including kids younger than me. There’s also less crazy people over there than there is here.

My friends and i traveled there a few times back in the early 90s . You are right. Very underrated. We visited Tegucigalpal , sand perdro Sula, el Progresso etc. Punta is the general music there ,paranda,bachata,Caribean salsa ,comba,reggae ,merengue, etc . You are right about the addresses.Tegucigalpa interesting. Very steep decent and crazy climb for the planes so most people would not land at that airport but would go to sand perdro Sula and drive back to Tegucigalpa. We wanted to experience what most tourist would never experience so we had connected with local friends there . It was not so bad as it is now .but enjoyed every moment of it . Traveling to the mountains,the incas ruines ,etc .the clubs In Tegucigalpa awesome!curves galore. No RUclips then.love your videos reminded me of what I did without RUclips from South East Asia,central and South America and even Europe.
Mayan Ruins, Incas are from South America, clubs are great only problem is they close too early, around 2 or 3 am in Tegucigalpa, its a bit different from City to city and on few dates they stay open all night, come again anytime you like

I'm American livin in Roatan for 7 years. I've never even seen a fight in roatan. Maybe nobody yelling. Its possible to make a friend for life holding the door for someone. The people are amazing. The only thing thats alarming is the police/security with military grade guns everywhere but I always wonder why do they need the big guns when I havent seen any crime? The six-character code represents an area of approximately 14 meters by 14 meters, while the eight-character code represents an area of approximately 2 meters by 3 meters. (but only used by google)

@@mierypesado6740 Belize City is ok. The casino is pretty decent but keep your head on a swivel. My taxi driver there won't drive at night because of the murders. A woman tried to steal my phone which could happen anywhere. Most tourism is on the islands. Mayan ruin tours are great and relatively safe. Zip lining, cave tubing are about an hour away from Belize city. San Pedro Island is the party spot. Bring mosquito repellent.

I can vouch for USD not being accepted anywhere else in Honduras, besides Roatan. I think the Hondurans understand the importance of being friendly especially when you’re in business. There are many places you can buy the same thing, so it helps to be friendly. Forget about addresses, most of the time it will be based on a specific business. For example if I live one block south of Pollolandia, it will be The Neighborhood name, and then where your house is in relation to Pollolandia. Tegucigalpa has street names.

Lived in Honduras for 3 1/2 years. Been to some nice beaches after living in south Fl, Tampa and visiting Greece. The best one I've been to are in Roatan. Tela is a close second. Friendly people and food is good. A typical Honduran breakfast is much better than one at a fast food establishment. Recommend not wearing your best watch, necklace, etc.. Leave that at home or in your hotel/motel room. No need to temp people to rob you.

I am from honduras but don’t really know my country but am going back soon. Currently I live in Peru and man this country Can really get you into trouble especially if you involved with a girl from peru. You can imagine what I am talking about if you been to Peru. Some insight on address (Im honduran) Those weird numbers are autogenerated, we DON'T DO ADDRESSES, everything is reference based. You'll need to ask someone and they will tell you " yeah go to X landmark, 3 blocks right, 2 blocks leftf, you will then see a dog peeing on a tree or an old lady sitting outside, or a red truck...., then 2 houses from there" .... The dog, the lady or the car will always be there.

The address issue is a thing really highlighted even in our country, but that's mainly in Tegucigalpa, not all cities are like that, the reasons are historical, and people are not guilty about its design (I know you're not pointing out the people, but just as a fact).

Concerning advice, idk. If you, for some weird reason, want to travel through city surroundings and slums, just make sure you don't wear nike shoes and shirts with an "18" or "13" on them.
Try to appear lectured on food prices as people tend to sell stuff with higher prices to tourists. A Baleada, for example, shouldn't cost you more than 25 lps.
If you visit Copán, PLEASE try Copan Dry, our national drink. Particularly the banana one.
After that, just enjoy. There's nothing other-wordly about Honduras, as media often portrays it. SPS, for example, will feel just as any other city in a developed nation. Beautiful streets, sunny day, nice buildings, restaurants, luxury. Really nothing to worry about.

The weird address format is actually a Google thing. When Google can't determine an official address they use that format with letter and numbers with the + sign.
My Mom was from Honduras from San Pedro sula and met my Dad that was a America from Champaign Illinois and we haven't been back since 2012 it looks like everything is decent done thier.And I don't have a good relationship with my relative's at all so I am just going to chill bye myself and go be sad somewhere else but try to enjoy it 😊 and stay positive and just be in my Illinois world 😊💯
