To the Indian viewers who are new here - welcome! I'm Dan, and this is The New Travel. I try to make videos that break stereotypes about different cultures and show people the reality of life in different countries. I've been to Indian twice now and both trips have been unforgettable. It's a special land with a soul unlike any other. Some people in the comments have asked me why I travel in tuktuks and not take Ubers... it's because I want to be on the street and able to see the life moving around me. That is one of the joys of travelling India. I don't want to be "hidden away" in a car, I want to see and experience as much as I can. It's the reason I take trains instead of airplanes as well. I'm not sure if that makes sense... but it's how I travel!
In any case, you're welcome to visit my TRAVEL INDIA 🇮🇳playlist to learn more about these experiences. Have a great day...

The problem with most of the foreign tourist is that they come with pre mindset that India is pretty cheap place , they don't prefer metro, ola ,uber etc for transportation but prefer tuktuk but latter keep complaing how a tuktuk driver scam them. They prefer to stay in some cheap hotel in some crazy place and later will complain how becoz of bug they couldn't sleep at night.Take street food 4m some random stall , at where even we Indian think 100times to take food, later on they have food poisoning and keep complain about Indian Street foood.Problem is that most of them are budget travellers.

I often pretend to bargain and the after an agreed price I usually add a generous amount on top… the look on the face of the person is usually my biggest reward of the day.. I feel if we are so blessed we need to share some of the joy … please do not think I am sermonising .. I used to be different previously.. when I saw their lives more closely,my attitude changed

Your comments matched many of my experiences when I was there in 1984 and about your age. I ended up spending six weeks in India and Nepal. Time is not what westerners are use too, so changing your perspective is good advice. A meal might take two hours, exchanging money an hour. You learn that the bus or train may soon come meaning one hour or five hours, so you learn to chill and read your paperback. The people were amazing and I had very few problems, but it was challenging traveling. Often I would put off leaving my hotel room in the morning knowing once I left the sights and sounds would overwhelm my senses until my return. Also, there is no quite time with people playing music and engaging in activities all night. Overall I felt like it was life unfiltered showing you the good and the bad at any moment. I think of my experience there every day and gave me a perspective of life no other place can offer.

You HAVE to catch this particular train, you NEED a bed to get some sleep.
So , OK , 80 Rs for the ride instead of 70. 650 Rs for the room instead of 600.

While I have lived and continue to live most of my life in India, whatever you have experienced is fairly common in most cities/towns. Obviously Ola/Uber have now made a difference for you to not have the experience that you had with the cycle rickshaw ride, but you still learnt something in a much harder way. Don't overplan, have patience and it can make the ride worth it. And believe me, the traffic is what drives tourists crazy. Even as an Indian citizen, I have not yet been able to fathom how do we actually drive in this amount of traffic - it just happens like it's a miracle! Loved the vlog! Highly recommended!

Also a few mores items to be mindful of if you're a solo female traveling. But, If you can find it, I agree finding the peace within yourself is the key to enjoying this magnificent country and its people! 💜

Hey there Dan.Namashkar bhai sab! Thank you for coming out with unbiased comments about your experience in Bharat (India). I was there last year in February and March. Before traveling there, I had made such a detailed plan of what cities and villages to visit and what to see in those places. A week or two before heading out on the trip, it came to me that I had to nip that plan in the bud or I would have a very bad trip. Fortunately I did and I had the trip of a lifetime. The people were so AWESOME and the places and the Himalayas so AWE inspiring. I just walked around everywhere I was except for Mumbai and Delhi where one HAS TO take the Metro and train to make ends meet or you'll be pulling your hair out.
Travel TIP for the Delhi Metro. Ask for the 3-day unlimited rides metro card. It goes for 500 rupees I believe. That's about 7 or 8 dollars US. That's a SWEET deal for unforgettable WANDERINGS in Delhi.

See , you can book it online without any special ID , the crowded train is just a photo , it's not real it's usually taken just for the camera , I've been to Varanasi , they always stop you opposite the busy road , where I think they dropped you so it's normal.

I'm an Indian, it's not pretty hard if you plan it well. instead of tuk tuk, you should have booked ola or uber (prepaid taxi) and book your tickets before travelling in advance. As an Indian i avoid train and opt always for private A/C or non A/C buses. for avoid power cuts, opt for hotels which is mid ranged, they have backup options. Indian roads are messy cant do anything about it so plan it little more advance than it shows up on google maps.
