People are always giving me a hard time for picking up stuff from the curbside. However, when I upcycle the stuff, I get tons of compliments on them. I think it's a great way to keep things out of landfills. "One man's trash is another man's treasure" slowly helps to save the planet. Besides, if you can get it for free, why pay for it?! You did a great job on this. It's unique, classy, and cheap!! Plus, the addition of those extra shelves brings it up a notch. Thank you for sharing the additional tips! Especially, about contacting Home Depot CS. My local store barely cuts anything anymore, so I'll be using that tip quite often. I never considered shiplap, but I'll be using it on my future projects, for sure. It's so much nicer looking than plain wood boards, and that price difference, 🤯!!! Sure wish I had learned that tip sooner! Thank you for all you do. I've learned so much from you these past 5 years, Norrine. I appreciate you and know how blessed I am to have such an amazing, smart, kind, crafty, and organized friend. ❤
I have under bed drawers from my queen size bed that we took apart. I put the wood boards and drawers in storage and knew I could make something with the wood but didn’t know what! (Part of the bed fell apart when we moved) Thank you for sharing this video!❤
Awesome tip on the cutting authorization screen shot!!! I can hardly wait for the next unwanted dresser on the road side. Even a homely looking one will work.
love your ideas. I have had the situation with Home Depot about not wanting to cut a board so next time I will do what you suggested and show them and wait for there response LOL
Oh I hope you got ALL the drawers and not just those three!! This was a wonderful repurpose and the solution of the shiplap-BRILLIANT!! The height would make me want to use an “L” bracket and afix the top one to the wall stud. Great eye and use!!
This video has given me so much inspiration for the various sized drawer sets that I have been holding on to for dear life!! LOL!! Thank you again, much appreciated!!

It's kind of funny that you have this up now, because there is a house around the corner from us where whoever lives there has been putting out furniture at the curb, presumably for the garbage collectors. Most recently, I even saw a cabinet-style TV out in front of their house! I honestly don't know what they've been up to with all that, but I figure they're either slowly replacing all that furniture with new(er) items, or they're just really rough with their things & render them useless. At any rate, I don't think I've seen drawers so far. But whenever I pass there & see what they've got out, it just kills me that it's headed for our landfill rather than the recycling center that's only about 30 miles from here! (Here in Texas, 30 miles is easily "only"! LOL) I'm not sure if that recycling center would take regular furniture, but I know they take TVs at least. Yes, there is a small fee for that sort of item, but still...! I even took an old, dead exercise cycle up there a month or so ago, and they took that with no questions. Well, that's my rant for the day. LOL I would be tempted to stop to look at their "junk" more closely, but I think Mama would kill me if I brought stuff home like that. LOL I hope y'all are doing well. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
Your bookcase made out of drawers has given me a wonderful idea for storage in my craft room! I'm going to take a drawer unit that I already have, remove the drawers and make a bookcase out of them. But then I'm going to go one step further and add wood to the places on the drawer "shell" where the drawers were resting to make more bookshelves! Then I'm going to turn the whole piece 90 degrees, add more separators and make it into storage for my scrapbook papers (because they're a hot mess right now)! Thank you so much for the inspiration! I just subscribed to your channel to learn more fabulous tips on organizing my "new" craft room! God bless you for all the time you take to inspire and encourage other crafters!
I'll try to remember to send you pictures. It won't be for many months because I'll have a new craft room later this year after adding on to our home. Then I'll get to work reorganizing my new craft room and changing that piece of furniture to better suit my needs!@@TheCraftyOrganizer
Norrine you always find these great things on the side of the road! I very rarely see anything good in my area! Love what you did with these drawers! Such great storage! Thanks for sharing! 😍
Brilliant! You are so lucky to live in a neighborhood with such potential treasure on the curb. I love these drawer and shelf techniques! Thank-you so much for the cutting advice. I can’t cut anything at home, but I’ve hesitated using the free cut service worrying if it’s possible to get a clean edge (from a dull blade) or even the correct measurements. Gosh, don’t DIYs like this from free items make you feel powerful, too? So smart and looks great! 💖💫
Hi, i subscribed! 😊 I think this is a genius idea. Never thought of using 3 boards to create a separate shelf. Secure the backs with command strips from DT! Thank you for sharing this crafty info!! ❤
Wanted to tell you but I hit a button during the live, disappeared, and couldn't find my way back. I found some really nice tongue and groove planks, like eight full size ones, at Home Depot in the cull basket!! Aww yeah!! Hooked those rascals up, brought them home, and have only used one so far. I have a bunch of drawers, so I can pull this off for ZERO dollars! Now THAT'S a budget I can work with! 😉 This was fun!! Thanks, sweetie! Hugs, MK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
I remember when you showed how to do this about a year ago or more so I did it when I needed some extra space, I used 5 gal. paint sticks for the side than sat my shelf on it and it worked out great so Thank you for that hack.
That's such a great idea, Norrine! I need to find some drawers for me!!! I have a king-size bed, but I have 3 bars going across with a bunch of legs on it going across diagonally to help hold my mattresses up, and I could use a little more space to hold thins I would just have to find a little smaller drawers that would fit between the legs.
I love this! I'm always looking for more storage options. I would like to know how you built in the space for ribbon rolls. I've seen my share of ways but now I need one. Are they held in place for use or does each pop out? One of the best was made from rain gutters. Sit at an angle & holds several sizes of rolls. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 😊
Great going, turned out great. Help, I have a set of Michels craft storage units. One part will not hold the shelves that are supposed to be in each cube. I lost valuable, important space because of this. How can I get those shelves to stay up?
I'm so happy I don't know what to do with myself! Or these old drawers🤣! Happy Blessed New Year everyone! I pray all is well, and remains well with you and your families in Jesus' name! God bless!!!!
Hi! Brand new sub here! I love your videos. I have a question though. Where did you get the side pieces that are holding up the shelves? I keep rewatching to find out but I dont see where you said what size those are or if you had those cut to size. I probably missed it.😅 Thanks for your help!!
Welcome!!! That single piece of shiplap was cut into three pieces - two equal sizes create the size supports, and the third piece is the width of the drawer to make the shelf 😊
These have to cut it. IF THAT MACHINE WORKS, THEY CUT IT. YOu just often have to ask different people. Some of the newbies are afraid of the saw. Go to customer assistance if several of the men there say no, for some reason. They will call for the person on shift at that time. They may not like it, but too bad. ITS THERE JOB!!! Just be super nice.
I'm confused. Why are you saying the drawers are for under the bed? They're clearly in chests of drawers. Unless the picture you showed us isn't the same as what you found.
Yep.... I'm not an expert at DIY, But I do know a few things. I've had multiple workers mansplain things while almost patting me on the head and scooting me out of the store. It's not a good look for them. I should do an honesty "let's talk" about that video!!! LOL

I would want to stop and grab them. My cousin took drawers and used them as shelves on her wall. I've been want to do it ever since.

Great idea! You've got my brain buzzing!
I was thinking about this same ideal for storing my granddaughter’s toys under her bed. 😮😅😂
Thanks for the Home Depot hack! 🎉
You are so welcome!
Bet Home Depot won't be. 😂 Mine is pretty amenable, but don't know what they would say to shiplap.
The screen shot is genius!
