- I LOVE THESE TRUCKS!
This is pretty much what happens when you take a truck and pull off all the frills, and just leave the raw essence of truck. 1 ton chevy with 1 ton axles and a heavy old school iron block diesel V8.
I picked this up about a year ago and have been staring at it in my lot for far too long. We pulled it into the shop this week and set about getting this up and ready for action
Check out my Patreon Account. I post behind the scenes, early uploads, Q and A and more. Help me keep the lights on and buying more shop and camera gear!

I spent 30 years in Army maintenance and worked on many M1008 and M1009 CUCV. I still have tech manuals if needed.
That awesome to know! I have been lurking on steelsoldiers for years and there is a ton of great info and knowledge. You still have the original documents / books?
@@MerricksGarage I have them in pdf form
GO ORDNANCE!!
Every time that thing fires I get flashbacks to motorpool Mondays PMing the HMMWVs
Good video on the 5/4 ton ,
I have this truck, been sitting on my ranch for 10 years. It's it okay conditions no rust and covered with a tarp.
I want to fix her up but...I kinda think I should pass her along to someone who is driven to fix things
Tell me more!
That is so cool you have the rims from the Alabama army truck, that is the right call to pop those on the truck. Any chance you can convince Fred that blazers are cool, him and Dave don't give them much love. Do I smell a collaboration episode? Lol
Lol they did the rubicon in that k20. That was rad. They just aren’t as diehard as some of us.
Dang man you always find the COOLEST RIDES too BUILD!! Keep them coming Sir!!
Yes, put those wheels back on there!. Such a cool truck, 🤞on the trans/tcase.
Recenter the military beadlocks. Budget and cool
Great truck! Yes it adds up quick $ but we'll worth it.
Way to go, it would be nice to see it as your shop truck, 🤘
Love your cunmins suburban, l have a real love for them! I need a Dana 60 straight axle, for the front of my Yukon! I would love to delete the independent front. 🥴 install a e-locker Dana 60 with coil overs.
✌🏻🧡👍🤘🌬 ❄️ 🇨🇦 ⚠️.
I need to look into a cool Yukon or Tahoe build.
Military tires with beadlocks all the way 😎
Love it. Still making mine betterer too. Right in my wheelhouse! Looking forward to this Budget build.
I remember fort ap hill had a lot full of these waiting for Dermo so sad
Love those trucks!
Cummins swap next 💁🏻♂️
I'm starting to sense a pattern in what this garage is all about...
I just can't quite nail down what it is.
I dream of building angry face jeeps.
Lets see a picture of that bent tie rod. And i suggest removing the square fuel filter asap
Lol I bent that moving it with my forklift.
Ah geez merrick. Are you gonna do crossover steering?
I have a 1028, daily drive it
Love the 6.2's!
I kinda dig it too. They seem pretty smooth and reliable so far.
Cool rig dude! When will the camo hats be available?
Just put them up on the site yesterday!
Sweet! Sounds just as obnoxious as my 6.2 diesel K5! 😂
So not keeping those baby sized bicycle wheels and tires? 😅
It’s a pretty good look huh!? Ha ha.
@@MerricksGarage Haha well, it’s a look! 😂
Hey, Merrick. I am in Paso Robles. I have drive shafts. If you want I can go over to Fred's and let him know.
Scott
BTW we talked some years ago in the Home Depot parking lot in Atascadero.
Thanks man, let me see where I land round here but I might take you up on it.
Do you know what size lift?
He James do you know anybody interested in buying a m1008 ? I have one thinking of getting rid of it?
I am. Can you email me any information? james@merricksgarage.com
How does your tach get a signal?
Lol it doesn’t. Not right now. It needs to be calibrated. The windows work though.
CUCV alternators have a tach output on them BTW. It was for the NATO diag plug
@@JP4XOR interesting. But that is prob a 24V alternator that can't be installed on my 'burb.
@@CrankAddict No they used two 12v alternators.
that is NOT a np203 case...it's a 208
Yea I know. Kept saying 203 by mistake.
I think you're brain say chain driven =chain driven
