Modern trucks are built twice as strong as those square bodies. They were reliable because they were simple, not stronger. It’s the same reason Toyota “trucks” have the reputation of being reliable. They are incapable of performing the duties modern work trucks do regularly. Sure, dropping a newer truck on its side could deploy the airbags and electronically disable it. But their hubs, axles, and frame are twice as strong. Sure, modern high compression engines will hydrolock upon immediate startup after being upside down. But modern engines produce twice the power with twice the efficiency. Finally, with exception to less parts to break and easier availability of replacement parts, that’s where the benefits of those old trucks end. Also 2019 and newer trucks, or any vehicle with onstar can be disabled remotely. Half-ton trucks today can haul more than 90s HD trucks, much less something ten years older.
@@fZionists78but with a price tag of 80k plus who their right mind wants to have a debt like that when you can sink less than that into a shitty old truck and have more reliability and better aftermarket support for half the cost and actually see where the 1000 a month payment goes? I myself beat the brakes off my 78 chevy k20 and can fix it myself in a weekend or less hell it takes me right around a hour to pull the engine... do that with these fancy computer driven shitboxes nowadays good luck
you can forget that!! these old school machines are out of main line production forever and they will never build the simple reliable quality again! but at least the aftermarket does stamp out most of the parts for these so we can keep our old ones fixed and going for another 20-30 yrs
It won't last a few minutes, the control arms on the cybertruck are literally thinner than a camry. I liked the cybertruck until I noticed the build quality.

This dudes videos are amazing. You’ve come along way Cody. Definitely goes all out. Imagine convincing the owner of that gas station to film a video ripping out his nozzle all expenses paid for and 5k on top.
I worked at a gas station long ago and seen this happen the lines have a large metal connecting piece I’m not 100% sure how it works but my guess is magnets are holding it in so when someone drives away without putting the nozzle back into the pump instead of ripping out and potentially damaging the entire gas pump it just disconnects and halts the fuel supply leaving the pump. Literally designed to do that and I bet WD got permission to do that on purpose but even if he didn’t it still likely didn’t cause damage. Where I live we still have pump attendants and I used to be one this lady in her big truck pulled up wanted gas but it was busy and just me so I usually had a few cars on the go so I started hers and went off to do a few others she later heard it click off and not thinking assumed it was all hung up and done so she drove away with the nozzle still in her truck it disconnected same way it did for WD no body got hurt noting was damaged the thing is a bitch to put on its heavier than it looks but not unmanageable.

First off, props for making those Lowe's workers day. You know they'll be talking about that for awhile, as well as the Towing guys, who probably had bets you wouldn't move all those trailers. That being said, while I love the content and you keep raising the bar, it physically hurt when that full toolbox tipped forward and all the tools fell everywhere.
I'd never threaten anyone over a video on RUclips but will admit that watching this beautiful squarebody get destroyed breaks my heart. That is my dream truck.
Thank you Cody for once again proving that even the weaker generation of square body chevys (IMO the early 70’s is peak of square bodies) are still very good trucks. Looking forward to test #2
Idk man. Call me a hater but there isn’t a single shot of the truck pulling the single loaded trailer or all 4 that showed the entire thing. Every single shot clipped the back out or cut out right before it showed the back of the trailer. I’m willing to bet they were pushing it with another vehicle, which is why you never see the back of the trailers in any shot

My dad had a 1974 Chevy with a 454 with 4 on the floor. We used that truck to snatch logs out of the woods. If we lost traction, back that thing up and slam, again and again sometimes breaking chains until we got the log out. Cut it up, chop and fill the truck with a cord of wood almost bursting the tires. Dragging a big assed boat, and a tractor around. Years of torture and we couldn't kill that truck. My dad finally sold it and it lasted many more years.

It's just a truck
i mean, im not hurtin from it, im all up for a good durability test on an old squarebody. at least he did more of a common one.
2:13 ‘They did this to themselves’. 😂
Not sure why everybody gets so offended, as an owner of squarebodies, I'm actually impressed. I'd love to see a modern truck handle half of this.
Because he destroys cars, that's the only reason, specially old cars that aren't common.
@@FacuGonz3 more cars get destroyed by people abandoning them or taking them to the scrap yard than this guy destroys

Make bad ass vehicles again!!
you can forget that!! these old school machines are out of main line production forever and they will never build the simple reliable quality again! but at least the aftermarket does stamp out most of the parts for these so we can keep our old ones fixed and going for another 20-30 yrs

I used to have an 84 GMC short wide 4x4. It was stolen out of the driveway while I was in the house. I loved that truck. My dad bought it new in 84 and I bought it from him. I loved that truck. Thanks for the video. Brought back a lot of memories.
was it red?
considering how much you appricated that truck I'm genuinely confused on why this video didn't make you upset? If I were you I would be.

It didn't make him upset because he understands ownership and isn't a pussy.
This dudes videos are amazing. You’ve come along way Cody. Definitely goes all out. Imagine convincing the owner of that gas station to film a video ripping out his nozzle all expenses paid for and 5k on top.
At first I thought you said it’s amazing that Cody has come out
Really digging Cody's resourcefulness. Vids just keep getting crazier and grander.
0:30 I don’t get now no one’s mentioned WD just ripping the gas pump off at a proper gas station 😂
There was no gasoline so if was fake😑
Fr
Learn how it works before you call it fake they pop off like that to stop fuel from being spilled it’s a safety mechanism
@@Ima_strangerYou know they’re designed to break away and not leak gas right?
I am a squarebody owner. I think this videos was very good. Im glad your showing how much abuse these trucks can take and keep going
That's what im saying. I had a 90 k2500. Almost had 700k miles on it. it was a tank. I got rear ended at 30mph and nothing happened to the truck lol

British people always say that Toyota Hilux can pull a Chevy square body but the square body pulled it like a dam dog I have a Chevy square body and it’s 45 years old and it runs and drives fine with no problems
