Careful what you wish for....If Sony can keep milking an under powered console like PS4 for almost 11 years now, you can bet they are going to put something like PS5 relevant for 15 years at least i.e till 2035 !! So don't keep crying when the cross gen becomes compulsory even when PS6 arrives and all the new genres, IPs, and sequels become PS5 first and PS6 later 🤣
There were plenty of hd re-releases of ps2 games on ps3, new IPs and remasters of ps3 games on ps4. This comment makes zero sense if you think about the library on each console for more than a second

MotorStorm 1 and 2, and resistance 1-3 and Killzone 1-3 all should be brought forward and remade
I'd pay full price for these if they were remastered. Motorstorm on PS5 would be insane.
Even just good ports would make me jump in joy. Same with the Ratchet & Clank Future series and Into the Nexus, as well as inFamous. Something as simple as increasing the resolution and framerate and bringing it to new platforms would be insanely good for these games.
Or, better yet… just make a new game set in the same series. Killzone 4 and Resistance 4 should 100% be a thing, yet there has been 3000 remasters of games that don’t hit max settings on the latest consoles anyway!?

As a PC handheld player, I'm always concerned by how these "upgrades" will affect performance. Witcher 3 used to run like a dream before the next-gen update.
Thankfully for Witcher 3 you can work around that by opening in DX11
This is a completely seperate product the only problematic thing really is the overlay and psn requirement that cause issues on linux
This is one of the reasons why Rockstar still hasn’t updated RDR2 to 60fps they’re probably waiting for the right time to release a remaster
they won't release RDR2 update before GTA 6. Also RDR1 should be released on PC in near future according to numerous leaks.
They will 100% release a remaster BUT it will simply be a 60fps patch with better resolution and Higher Graphics that are already on Pc
@@ProtectusCZ With the recent ps4/ps5 Red Dead Redemption 1 releasing, I could be certain that they will port and enhance that game to pc.
My number 1 most wanted patch/remaster since the beginning of this generation, I haven't played DRD2 yet just because it looks ugly and choppy with PS4 Pro graphics

Its like TLOU. Yes some thing are better but putting greenery on everything just so they can say "hey look, its VERY different" even though putting green on everything looses some of the charm from the original
Tlou hasn’t had the nice orange lighting since the ps3 version. Even the ps4 remaster is disappointing, color wise

They not only blurred out the textures in the "remaster" but also made it even more cartoony. I guess Sony needs to make all that lost money back from Concord. And here I was thinking Phil Spencer was out of touch this gen
Remastered has motion blur and the OG doesn't so it's probably that? Everything looks a bit better and faces looks way better expect maybe Rost. Foliage is also way better in remastered
They fucked up the remaster's lighting big time. Even the the actual lighting render is higher quality the placement of the lighting makes the characters more artificial. I'm gonna stick with the original.
Don't be so critical of the 2 indian outsources making the remaster. It's their first IT job, they are trying their best.
I really dont like the motion blur and lighting on the remaster. It may be technically more impressive but the original is still a good looking game.
Such a waste of money and resources imo.
To me the part that made the whole PSN thing stand out was games not being sold in Countries without PSN (which caused Valve to have to refund a lot of pre-orders of Ghost of Tsushima) which clearly feels like it wasn't among the information disclosed by Sony to Valve while Sony does I believe sell their consoles on those countries regardless of PSN availability or lackthereof. That's to me the big elephant in the room. From the players side, I mean, it's not like EA or Ubisoft haven't been doing the same for a long time now and you don't see people making the same type of "noise" about it. The only difference is Sony's just starting to give a bit more attention to PC as an extra source of revenue so they're the latest to do what EA, Ubsoft, Battlenet whatever others have done for years, requiring more than just a Steam login. To me, if they want to take that stance, then they shouldn't be allowed to sell consoles in countries without PSN.
It's amazing that we're well past the time of different broadcast systems and "lines"(long gone are the NTSC and PAL days for the common folk), with things being almost entirely digital, yet we have geolocking just because.

it has a great story imo...but the rpg element and item managment is clunky and dated, wonder if they fix it also to be more like in the second game.
Honestly can't imagine playing FW before ZD. It's a continuation of the story so moments of major discovery and reveals in ZD would be spoiled.

the game has rpg dialogue in a game that isn't really an RPG so the cutscenes feel like a mess.
The plot didn't touch me in the first few hours, the characters were annoying, the main character looks a little stupid with her emotions, the combat system is monotonous and simple.

1:03 Richard is correct ... this should be done with _Every_ game. I would have gladly paid £10 quid for a graphical upgrade (of this quality) for my favourite games back in the day.

Not exactly what he implied. Business wise it's an excellent strategy for the remaster but he goes on to say it is an unsustainable strategy given that it takes a lot of money and resources to do this. The controversy is that the PS4 version looks perfectly good and already runs extremely well on PS5. The backlash is that people want new games, not endless remasters.
@@EnginManap Black Mesa was fun, but it lost the charm of the original by making some of the areas (all?) far to big - they were designed a certain way back in 1998 and I don't think the updated version worked as well as the original .. in my opinion it would take the professionals at Valve to remake Half-Life 1 correctly --- just my opinion.
If PS5 had more original exclusives I wouldn't have a problem with this. I don't like PlayStation Prioritizing remasters or creating new games.

Honestly want the Nathan drake collection to get an upgrade so they also release the first three games on pc. We have uncharted 4 and lost legacy but not 1-3 which is a bit silly.

I played through the first horizon game twice. I can't imagine doing a 3rd playthrough anytime soon. Remastering the motorstorm trilogy is a no brainer. I'd pay $60 or $70 for the trilogy in a single release day one

Seems like a good update. These big games like Horizon, Spider-Man and TLoU are their "tentpole" games, and you want to make sure they're as strong and up-to-date as possible, so that the Playstation tent can weather any possible storms.
Zero dawn was a beautiful game and it still is even when Compared to 2024 games. It doesn’t need a remaster this is just a cash grab if we are being honest

I just hope the hairs don't wave around when there is a camera cut (for whatever reason when there is a camera movement in HZD, it is treated as a movement of the world)
They should pillage the library of non-recent titles like rachet and clank, jak and daxter, sly cooper, and resistance. Hell I’d throw some clams for just a straight RnC and JnD collection native to ps5.
For 9.99 it's a steal, this game was also free to download for everyone in January 2021 if you downloaded it.

In the pc space these visual enhancements are called mods. And for the most part they don't cost 70% of the original games's price.
( yeah it looks better than a mod but not by much).
I prefer the mod that fixes Aloy's face. Sony just made her face worse, like they did in the second game.

( IMO it's racist to make someone black in a place known for white population). Makes no sense for angrboda to be black in the first place but correcting that with a mod is where we draw the line. lol 😂 weird times we live in.
The only thing holding back utter outrage is the fact it's a £10 upgrade. It looks alot more substantial than what they did with TLOU2 PS5 remaster and that was also a £10 upgrade.
For what it is can't really complain, would of been better if they'd put recourses to something new but not the end of the world

Remasters are to lure in new players. People that have finished these games are not likely to repeat based on the graphics improvements. However for a new player picking Horizon over some other game is significant
I applaud Sony keeping their catalog in line with modern hardware. This is commendable.
I do not like that some of the heavy hitters get very much delayed upgrades like Demon Souls and I expect Bloodborne in few years with PS6.
Sony, give us games that deaerve a remaster on PS5. How about Resistance and Motorstorm series, they were a lot of fun to play.

It looks very bright and saturated, I kinda prefer how certain scenes were lit in the original but the rest looks very much improved...even If It wasn't necessary.

Even cross save is not enough to make it mandatory. I won't play these games on consoles, that's why I buying them on PC.

Yes but it seems only the Steam and Epic Games versions of the game will be eligible. The GOG version of Horizon Zero Dawn seems to have been left out
HZD doesn't need a remaster, it doesn't even look that much better, and certainly do not need an Aloy with a rounder face.

If you own both, compare hzd and burning shores to get an impression of how much of a difference there will be.
If the remaster is needed has everyone decide for themselves. But one can’t deny the difference in fidelity.

My Afraid is Sony will keep up with the "Last of Us" and "Horizon" update while they are already great games. I Would prefer this investment went to older ps3 and below games, like they did it with "Demon's Souls" that it really feels like a massive upgrade. Cause this upgrade for a game that I just play a couple years ago won't make me play it again cause is a small upgrade. not like Resident Evil 4 or similar that a lot of things were updated to be in today standards. If this doesn't affect other productions I don't mind

The thing that confuses me about everyone complaining about requiring a PSN qccount on PC is that Xbox have been doing this for years already and noone seems to care. I was caught by surprise when I recently bought Forza Horizon 4 on Steam and was met with an Xbox account screen. I don't like any company doing this but why do Xbox get away without complaint?
You did not mention:
1. More details seems to also mean more fog in the background.
2. Most char models looks worse and less detailed
3. A bonus that opening shots in the intro? No birds no leaves or pedals.

I got the platinum in Horizon: ZD.
I enjoyed it. I didn't love it. I was probably 80% to the platinum and just figured "why not", but it was cool.
But not this cool. Would never want to play it again.

I think Sony should start coming out with both Console and Pc version’s of the game at same time if they plan on releasing a Pc version in the future. Reason why they are doing console releases then Pc release is because they want to make money of people double dipping and getting it first on console then pc. Didn’t work to well with GOD Ragnarok so hopefully they learn from this and if they want maximum profit release on both. Didn’t work for FF16 as well so they should stop being greedy.
If Sony releases console and PC versions on the same day, then they'll lose millions of console sales, because there would be no reason for PC gamers to own a PlayStation console. That's one of the main reasons why Microsoft's Xbox console sales dried up. It's also why Nintendo will never release their games on PC.

Remasters/Remakes should *at the very least* jump/skip one generation, therefore, PS5 should only redo PS3 and *previous generations* games. Let's hope that, in the future, PS6 just remakes PS4 and older games that *DON'T* have a remaster already!

CD Project Red provided Witcher 3 whole overhaul update at no cost. Charging 10 dolares for a game that really doesnt look that great with the remastered update only ipens Sony and other vompanies to make this a norm. Terrible consumer strategy.
This "update" is the most ridiculous and useless fake update in gaming history, simple as that.
Men, leave the consoles behind, move to PC if you want to continue gaming.
Horizon games are good but they have no replayability. Same goes for Ghost of Tsushima and the last of us.

LMFAO I have multiple plays of both Horizon games on performance, quality, and the HZD PS5 port. I also have multiple runs of Tsushima on PS4/PS5+DLC. This is a "You" issue.

Stories are prolonged with boring side quests, everything goes super slow and etc. If you played those multiple times - you either had nothing else to play, indicating same thing as everyone is saying - both PS and XBOX have almost no games this generation (if that changes anything - I have both consoles and PC - have not touched consoles in months now), or you simply have way too much spare time to waste on same rinse-and-repeat prolonged game play. HZD and Tsuchima are very good games, but definitely not THAT good
@@theobserver_ I also replay FF games annually, beat FF16 five times, beat the KH anthology again all just this past year or so. I like doing multiple playthroughs and NG+. I dont need to play a new game every 2 weeks and many of the recent new games like Space Marine, Wukong, and BG3 dont interest me at all. Next on my docket is finishing both Nier games, Stellar Blade, Lies of P eventually. Different tastes in our gaming repertoire.

People getting upset about a game they don't have to buy or play if they don't want to will never stop being funny. In a depressing way.
I understand people getting upset about how Sony allocates their limited resources to a remaster no one wanted instead of, let's say, making a Bloodborne remaster or remastering an older game that could use a modern graphics update. It's not depressing for gamers to want Sony to make good choices. I want to see Sony succeed and make money just as I want to see Xbox succeed and make money and compete with Sony. What's depressing is where the game industry is currently heading, with Sony having no competition and just making bad choices because their executives just don't know gaming or what PlayStation fans want.
