- The Dell U4919DW is an ultrawide monitor that came out a few years ago. At the time it was a revolutionary 49 inch quad HD curved monitor with ultra wide views, multitasking features and seamless connectivity for an immersive work experience. So how does it stack up today against newer ultrawide monitors like the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9

Thank you Eric! Perfect review! Straight to the point.
I believe reviews should be as generic as possible, because as different people, we tend to carry out varied usages and draw out varied benefits from the same products. And this review expresses the perfect understanding of that notion.
Thanks for watching
omg i can't imagine how it would be like to trip and be with this monitor in smaller room.
Full immersion. holly molyy IWANTTTTTT
thanks for the review.. i opted for a 34in ultrawide. as much as i wanted a 49in ultrawide, decided to get the the one that wouldn't break my bank
All good for productivity.
One of the reasons I clicked on your video is you ALSO have a dual monitor setup. Meaning you actually want a better vertical vision.
I run a 3 monitor setup, one of them is set to Portait. So even though , IF, one day I get this baby, seems I would still neeed those extra monitors.
Currently have 1x FHD on Portait, 1x QHD on Landscape and 1x FHD on landscape. If you add the horizontal pixels, those 3 are a bit more than this monitor.
So even though you didn't talk about your 2nd monitor, it's clear that I can't just throw away a visual setup I'm so used too
I actually moved my old dual 24" monitor to my dedicated work from home desk. It's featured in some of my other videos. Yeah it's good to have the extra monitors just in case.
Nice review! Just picked up that powerspec G470 2 weeks ago. My first gaming pc and loving it!
Thanks for watching. Glad you're enjoying the new G470.
you should optimize it look up some videos
Quick awesome review as always . This looks like a good monitor for editing
Definitely. One of the main reasons I got it.
I've had mine for a couple of years now and my two cons are - 1. Once you use one of these, it is very hard and frustrating to work on a single normal monitor. 2. I keep losing my mouse...
I had to increase the pointer size on my mouse and change the color too lol
Hi Eric, what Dell monitor are you using in portrait mode to complement the U4919DW? Thanks!
U2415
The fact that you have to turn you head from side to side means the ergonomics surrounding this monitor is questionable
It's not bad honestly and with a deeper desk it won't be an issue. Still prefer this over a 1000R curve. 1800R would be the sweet spot though.
@@EricTMeraki I respect your preference...
Recently bought it used, it sure needs more curve. I also have the u3417w and the curve is very noticeable. Went back to the 3417
I want a 47 or 49" display for multitasking. I will be using it mostly for documents and microsoft related apps. Will the PPI be good enough for clear fonts/letters? If not what would you recommend?
It will be. The Dell Ultrasharp monitors are designed with productivity in mind especially for office work like what you're describing.
Thank you for the reply

How are you connecting the other monitor to the Dell U4919DW? I know there are three inputs (2 HDMI and 1 DP) but not following how the other monitor is connected. Maybe a docking station?
The side monitor is connected directly to my PC. You can daisy chain some Dell models but the U49 doesn't have that ability.
Thank you for the review. I bought the U4924DW. Do you notice a "grinding/buzzing"'-ish sound? It's very noticable especially when scrolling on a website.
I haven't noticed that.
What's the other monitor you have? Also what's the Webcam stand you're using. Set up is nice.
Vertical monitor is Dell U24. Webcam is Logitech Stream Cam
When I switch to PBP mode, the computer on the right is full screen like normal. The computer on the left has the black bars at the top and bottom. I've triedchanging the resolution to 2560x1440 but it just makes the bars larger. Any ides?
You got a picture?
That monitor on the left, they you keep in vertical position, how many inches is it? My Dell U4924DW (newer version of this one) is coming in a couple of days, but i'm already thinking to having one regular monitor next to it in vertical position like in this video. I guess it's 27-32"? Thanks
It's actually the U2415 model 16:10 ratio.
Where did you get the cool desktop wallpapers?
All of them are from this app called Wallpaper Engine. You can filter by ultrawide resolutions and you'll get a lot of cool options to pick from. These are user based creations so you'll never run out of new wallpapers to pick from. You can even make your own too.
@@EricTMeraki which wallpaper is the character dragging or rolling the ball?

Hey Eric, thanks for the review. I've had this monitor for several years now and have never been able to get it to work as a single monitor???? It behaves as two separate screens without the gap in the middle. Both my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro see it as two separate displays. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Probably the input you're using. Check the cables. It could be a Mac setting as well. I'm more of a windows guy so it could be more relaxed to os settings.
IMP Query: When this monitor connects two laptops or Desktop side by side say one side windows from my personal computer and other windows from my office laptop, can a single mouse and keyboard work on both windows without switching or clicking any additional buttons? I need to buy only it it works in this way....
I heard you can do it but I never figured it out. Might require extra software.
Is there any IPS, 1800R monitors around the 49 inch mark? I'm struggling to find something that ticks all the boxes...
Not that I'm aware of.
can you use Half of the screen or 1/3 as a TV? and the other half as monitor?
You can use half the screen for another device if you use the PBP mode. There's no cable input for TV. If you mean like if you plug in a Chromecast would you be able to use the half to display. In theory, yes, but I haven't tested it.
Is that a speaker mounted on top as well? The one hold-back I have for this setup is non-integrated speakers and I haven't found a good option to mount them anywhere. If you solved that I'd be curious to know what you're using.
On top of the monitor is a light bar and webcam. Is that what you're referring to?
@@EricTMeraki Yes you bet - I thought it was a speaker.
Where did you get the chair from ?
Uplift Desk.
What is the brand and model of the chair?
Pursuit Ergonomic chair from Uplift Desk
I want the wallpaper
Look up Wallpapers Engine and sort it by ultrawide resolution. It will show up.
What size is the portrait monitor on the left?
Don't have the exact dimensions on me but it's the Dell U24 model.
Why you didn't get a Samsung 49" ultra wide? That is curved and has probably more than 60hz refresh rate? your answer can help me decide which product to pick? thank you
I use this for office work and video editing, not gaming. It works fine for non competitive gaming. IPS panel is better for color accuracy and clarity. Dell is well built and reliable.
The Samsung is more for gaming, but it is also known to have some manufacturing flaws that I didn't want to have to potentially deal with.
Both are good options but if you want to game go for a monitor with a higher refresh rate.
I'm about to return a Samsung piece of crap that flickers and displays a vertical bar of discoloration. I will never buy another Scamsung product again.
@@EricTMeraki Hi, may I ask you what kind of "manufacturing flaw" do the Samsung monitors have? I am thinking of buying this DELL monitor despite it s a bit an old model for the same reasons you have explained in the video, but I am still curious to know what flows you saw in other monitors. Thanks
I've seen a few cases of dead pixels being the most common. Some of the panels also have some flickering.
Started working freelance 2 years ago so bought cheepest screens I can 4k Samsung (LU28E590DS) 27inch bought another once was able to afford and then a USB C dock... now thinking of jumping to this essentually combining all other than freeing up two plug will I notice much diffrence?
I don't really have any experience that Samsung monitor to compare it to honestly. Sorry.
@@EricTMeraki of course sorry I guess my question was more will switching to a single large monitor be greater than maintaining duel 4k with a dock
The resolution of this monitor would be less than 2 4K monitors combined. I replaced my dual monitors with this one and it works well for my use case. Not sure about the dock part though but this monitor has a good amount of inputs so you won't need an extra dock.
How did you mount a light bar to it?
The BenQ Screenbar that I use has a mounting mechanism built that can clamp to the monitor.
do you thing it is good to make double monitor use this monitor??
You mean 2 of the same monitor? I've seen some setups when they are stacked on top of each other.
@@EricTMeraki yes with 2 49 inch ultra wide monitor
Is that 27inch for the 2nd monitor?
Nope. Actually it's a 24".
Music too loud
Thanks for watching :)
Im about to get it for 400 bucks
Congrats. This is considered an old unit right now so it's definitely gone down in price.
