Nice review, straight to the point!
One thing I don’t agree with personally is the comment re Bauer constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation since the overall skate design hasn’t radically changed since the introduction of One95 a decade ago, which was truly a revolutionary skate. Now all Bauer seems to add is minor gimmicks and cosmetic design changes, most of which don’t pan out nor have noticeable performance improvements. While CCM and True moved on to a one-piece boot design years ago.

Hey there thanks for the feedback. I was mostly talking about say the tongue changes, inject lacing, hyperlite cut outs, carbon runner, and mx3 and higher surpreme lines tendon guard flex styles. But I hear you on some of the gimmicks. I have yet to skate in a ccm boot with the one peice, I’m going to soon so I can compare to Bauer’s and see what I notice for differences. Once again love the comments and appreciate the engagement!

I started with the supreme ultrasonics.... after 3 months ... they deformed the ball of my foot on both feet.... ouch.. I was able to return them and tried out these hyperlites... Wow... such a better fit (same size and fit from the ultrasonics) and the hyperlites have a wider toe box and narrower heal hence tapered fit. I ditched the laces and run the usual ULTRA wax laces and also am running black step steel. No issues. I did crash into the boards and peeled off a little bit of the heel area of the boot but thats about it. Regarding outsole durability, yes, it is not great great... but it is still good. These skates feel great and are a nice step up from the usual Bauer line. Still not a 1 piece boot... but still improved and stiffer. I got the ultrasonics in april and exchanged them out in July when these came out. Luckily, my foot is only a 6.5 fit 3 so I was able to take advantage of $699 price tag and the the added pulse ti steel. I sold the pulse ti steel and bought 4 sets of discontinued black step steel and love it love it love it!

that forward flex feature with the cutouts is the most intriguing feature. i like a deep forward bend and it's always a bit of a tradeoff in how you lace your skates. i can't go to the top eyelet on my old One95's which 13 years on, remain an incredible skate and perfect fit.

Great review, I work at a sports store and have this theory that they test out new R&D on the Vapor line, collect the feedback and trickle the "tried and true" features over to the Supreme line...but I could be wrong haha
Also I feel that the actual profile of the blades makes the biggest difference!

i had a not so good first impression because when i was trying it on the boot was so stiff it was hard to tie the skate but my dad got me a pair that sold for pretty cheap (cheap for a top end skate) and it was more confortable that i expected. i love that the toe cap is very low and has very little negative space. i still dont like the tongue because it does not flex where i would like it to. i dont see a difference with the plastic outsole/hyperflex outsole thing

I find clinching these skates very difficult. The salesperson told me that l shouldn't pull the laces straight up because it may break through the carbon fiber. Well, trying to get them tight enough pulling sideways is nearly impossible. It's a pain!
