Watched your Mach video, im a 43 year old goalie who wanted out skates to skate with my son's. Came from an old pair of Bauer 4000 that were 1 size too big and they ribbed my heal raw to the point of bleeding. Went to pure hockey, tried the M5's fit 3, and they felt ok made the mistake of trying the Mach's and they fit perfectly and felt great before baking. I ended up leaving with the Mach's and couldn't be happier! Now I need to upgrade my goalie skates. Have old 2nd tier ones in a tiny D need some fit 3's for my really wide feet.
at 57 i'm not sure how many years of hockey i've got left. hopefully a decade. i'm so tempted to get these skates. lighter is better all things equal and i imagine they would be lighter than my still solid, One95's from 15 years ago. and i agree 100%, skates and skating are everything. the game is a game of skating, the better you skate, the better you perform at everything else.
Great review. Great skates. My two cents. If fit is the most important thing nothing beats the True SVH full custom. If you need extreme comfort and you are spending $1300 anyways just go full custom SVH. I'm glad I did. Would love to see you try them next. Great review. I hold you in high regards when it comes to reviews. Cheers.
Thanks I’ve been really thinking about a true ful custom to see how they are and how much better comfort can be when comes to trues skates. Man I got some thinking to do!
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviewsI've had my pair of custom Trues for going on 5 years now. Only issues I've had is having to rivet the tendon guard back on a couple times on each skate. Aside from that, they're great. I can skate with zero pain now, whereas I was in a lot of pain in all the retail skates I tried. People say they look cheap, but it's because there's no graphics over any of the boot, so you see all exposed carbon and you'll see glue where the sections meet. I don't see how that's an issue. I've skated 4-6 times a week the entire time I've had them, and they're still in good shape. I always take off the soakers and pull out the insoles after every skate to help them air out, so that probably helps. They're worth trying for sure.
I picked up a pair of these in august. went from a 2016 ccm jetspeed 7.5 to these in 7.5 fit 2. baked once, and extremely comfortable. extreme amount of energy coming out of turns
@@kenshiroFNS seriously. I played street hockey as a kid and once we got older I wanted to keep playing so just went randomly to a stick and puck as an adult and went from there. Drop in like 2-3 nights a week to get better
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviewslove watching your videos. You're spot on, you're very upright, but learning as an adult is challenging, it's a major win. I learned as a kid, growing up in MN. But I took a 15 yr hiatus from hockey, just busy with work and family. So, I still skate quite low to the ground, but it tires me out real quick! I'm pretty similar to you, lift weights 3-4x/wk, but I've had to change my workouts drastically to get hockey fit again....its a long road. Anyway, thanks!
i have the same exact fit as you. i have hyperlite 7.5 fit 3 and love them. getting a little bit of outer foot pain near my pinky toe (came out of nowhere, after like 5 months of having them without pain in that area) but still happy with them. my buddy sold them near new for $600 so it was hard to say no!
I used the CCM AS3 Pro for approx 3 years and absolutely wore the s.. out of those skates. Switched to the FT6 Pro (a size smaller, regular fit instead of wide) and it’s overall been a great experience. Weight wise it was the same; boot is bit lighter but the black steel is definitely adding up. Aside from the great boot comfort, beware that the step steel is much higher and comes with a 10,5 feet radius which yields a much flatter skating surface compared to previous steel around 9-9,5 feet radius. I am told I’m an experienced skater and after two months I’m still adapting, and while the flatness to provide great support and much better glide and is just awesome for backwards (ie. for defensemen), it takes more energy in turns and you need to beware of this fact. I’ve got a second set of black steel that I’m going to sacrifice for testing profiles; could just profile according to the old steel but it’s evident that the flatter profile comes with benefits as well so it’s adaptation, but one that initially was quite frustrating. I had to bake the skates twice to make the right skate fit better with respect to the inside of the right foot (ie. just above the arch). A wide model might have been the better approach but overall the skates are extremely snug and very comfortable for 5 or 6 hours on ice in a session. Had I been given the option, I would have taken a second set of AS3 Pro but they’re u fortunate unavailable.
Yeah I can’t skate on a ten foot radius way to flat I know the feeling. Really you would take the as3 over the new ft6 eh? See it really just comes down to your own comfort in a skate that works
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviewsperhaps I should rephrase the last part as the FT6 Pros are definitely the comfier skate, but I felt the fit of the AS3 Pro was better (perhaps as a result of the extreme wear and ultimately quite soft carbon shell). Again, I went from a wide (EE) to a regular fit, and it might have been a bad call .. unfortunately CCM didn't shop wide models at the time and I needed new wheels.
@@andersborum9267 yeah not much you could do then. I tried the as3 back when it came out in store but just found it to feel to wierd for my Bauer long term skating.
Bought the Supreme MX3 almost 10 years ago and still use them, best skates I’ve ever worn. Have also owned the AXP, APX2, and as a defensemen the supreme skates are just far superior.
Tried CCM, True, Graf skates. For me Bauer Supremes mid level and up are for me the best skates out there. The balance for defense is unmatched from all my trials using other skates.
I bought a pair of OG Hyperlites 6 months ago and I don’t know why someone wouldn’t go for those at a lower cost and the steel is much more accessible. The new holder doesn’t seem like an upgrade what so ever
I love the videos. I was wondering what you think about buying 2x pro skates in 2024. There only $200 bucks at the pro shop, and that’s a hard bargain in todays equipment market. What do you think?
Taller woman here 5’ 11, I’m on the inverse side of things. I found the hyperlite 1 to be super uncomfortable, the Machs to be too wide (even in fit 1), but the hyperlite 2s were perfect (7.5 fit 1). Agreed on the fly ti steel. Bladetech does make universal steel now which does work with the new holders. Their steel from early/pre last year wouldn’t fit on these.
My advice is to just get the bauer 3d scan of your foot before trying on anything. It narrowed my options down to only 2 skates. The Hyperlite 2 was by far the best feeling skate.
As per the vid the hyp 1 was fine hyp 2 not so much. I also don’t do scans as it recommends fit 2 and I can’t even put my foot in a fit 2. Unfortunately it just comes down to feel on
Loved the review. One thing im confused about is that the Supreme line is geared towards straight line speed, and the Vapors are better for side to side agility. So with your skating style the Mach should be your ideal skate. Either way love your content. Keep it up
Yeah I don’t feed much into the marketing jargon I am Not sure how a Mach can be straight line speed without allowing the most forward flex. But who knows fit is what allows you to perform. The Machs tradional feeling style for me made it feel a lot for a skater that wants a very stabile old school feeling skate in a new package
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews im also a straight line skater and iv never tried anything other than vapors but was thinking thinking about getting a pair of machs this week. But after watching this I might just stick with old reliable and get vapors again lol.
For ankle and footbed pain, try tying up / tightening your skates while standing. This allows your foot to "spread out" under your weight, and be in a more natural position for your foot.
If you ever do get custom trues. Definitely unlace the top eyelet, 2 if you feel stable enough. I came from vapors, and couldn’t get on my toes in the trues. I thought it was the profile. So I tried a bunch of different profiles and no luck. As soon as I unlaced top lace, it felt like a completely different skate. All the agility and speed came back. The boot is stupid stiff, and wraps your ankle very snugly. I’m a believer now. It is the most comfortable skate I’ve been in. I don’t think I’d go back to a retail boot.
Anytime I see someone say to undo an eyelet (or gosh even two), I just think to myself wow what a failure on the manufacturer from an engineering standpoint. I have switched to the new Hyperlite 2's and I can say that the injected eyelets are good enough such that undoing an eyelet is totally unnecessary. I have had the last two iterations of the Supremes, as well, and I wouldn't undo an eyelet there, either. They're great for top-end speed but lack agility bc the top of the boot really has no give and so all your stride is transferred to the ice.
@Paul-sq7lw the injected eyelets are to good to not wear a Vapor skate and I deal with my issues of fit, I haven’t gone back to traditional eyelets since these came out
My tongues finally broke in. Now I can tie all the eyelets. I didn’t realize how much the tongue makes a difference. My old vapor tongues were super floppy
Thanks for the review, great as always ! I'd love to try Vapors. Pitty my foot does not fit it well due to high instep area otherwise ankle area, heal lock feels fantastic in Vapors compared to Supremes. So finally I went to M5 Pro at decent price (INT size). I was also lucky to get a great deal on a pair of STEP Black steel. I am happy with that combo. I also struggled with a forward flex, now I don't use the last eyelet which helps a lot.
I have Supreme M4, tried many Vapors nothing works. It was always the same fit with vapors great heel lock but ankle area felt too tight even with fit 3 in some vapors. I am fit 2 in supremes. So easy to flex with Supreme didn’t need a break in at all with the m4.
I love my hyperlite 1’s. Have never tried CCM and always hear Bauer are much better but would still like to try just to see. Injected eyelets are amazing!!!
Officially ditched these skates two weeks ago and went back to original Hyperlites. The powerfly is WAY to stiff, they have to much padding that’s making me loose connectivity to the boot, and to top it all off they replaced the functional rubber piece in the back I generally relied on for feedback with a thin cheap piece of plastic that doesn’t give any rebound or feedback so that they could save on costs. Hyperlite 1’s are lighter, give better feel & feedback due to less padding, and aren’t to stiff everywhere like the 2’s. The only thing that kinda sucks about the 1’s is obviously the tongue situation but for me it’s manageable and worth all the other corks you get in exchange. Im officially on the hunt for every OG hyperlight in my size. It still stands as the best skate for me unless my True Customs are accounted for then that’s another discussion…
I was trying on the OG Hyperlite and the Hyperlite 2 today. Fit wise the smaller toe box on the 2’s is noticeable but otherwise I found the fits very similar. Just shows the importance of trying everything on if you have the chance
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews 100%. I’m coming from the original 1X in a EE, I was somewhere between a fit 2 and fit 3 in the new system but the toe box was just a bit tighter on the Hyperlite 2. I ended up going OG Hyperlite in fit 2 and saving $600. We will see if it was a good choice or not!
Nice review as usual! I was wondering if you were gonna release a vid on these skates! You know me, I’ve owned almost all of the major brands and models on both custom and retail. My experience has always been that Bauer skates the best, but CCM is the most comfortable and is most likely to get a custom pair correct on the first try. Also, I’m pretty confident that I’m in the small minority of players who gets the most use out of Supertacks. lol. I’d really give the FT6 pros a try in an 8 regular for you if you’re a 7.5 fit 3 in the Hype2s. I still think True skates are comfy junk at this point after owning two custom pairs. Think about their sticks.
Yeah after your thoughts on the ccms I may go that route first. I know a number of people have recommend the trues now but I dunno if I’m ready for that haha.
Man I remember when Kaner started rocking that all black with a bit of red APX LE skates. Those were fire. I have the hyperlites and I’m torn between the Hyperlite 2s, XF Pros, and the Machs which u can still find online. The matte colour of the shadows make it seem like a really cheap skate to me. The step steel on the ccms is a nice touch but ive always been Bauerzzzz. The ccm is also very comfortable in store due to all the padding.
The ccm can be more comfortable but I really find their skates “clunky” feeling. Very heavy. Mach was my fav fit but I prefer the injected lacing. If I was buying skates right now it would be Mach over all of those.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews thanks I just got back on the ice after a long layoff in August. Things have really changed. Will try a bunch thanks for the vids! I am Langley also
Is the overall fit in terms of volume the same with this than the og hyperlite? I know you said length was a bit off but getting fit 3 again felt more or less the same? Also did you wear the same size and fit with the machs too?
Great review! That stinks you have the foot pain! I had quite the opposite experience with these skates. Got them a few months ago, been loving them from the first skate. The comfort, the stiffness and stability has been the best I’ve ever skated in. Can’t recommend these enough if someone wants a top of the line vapor. From how you describe your game, have you ever tried the Bauer Supreme 2s Pro skates? I’m with you on the injected eyelets, I think they are the best and far superior in terms of response of the boot; the 2s Pro’s are supremes that have injected eyelets, might support your game? Traditional eyelets in my opinion have a better foot wrap and flex more, giving one more range of motion and comfort, vs the stiffness and more response in an injected eyelet. Love the content keep it coming man
I did have the 2spro as well. Probably my favourite supreme skate because of that. No issue foot pain wise. Been awhile though I feel like I sold those when the hyperlite or 2x pro came out can’t quite remember.
I put the tuuks holders back on my hyperlite2's and man there unbelievable now i come from 2spro supreme so was worried i should of went with the machs but no way these skates are deadly absolutely love my hyperlite2's
Darn you prob have same issue I do in the skate just doesn’t fit or work for you. These did same thing for me and didn’t really get better. You could run them another few skates but my advice unfortunately is prob sell and try something new and really get a feel in store for a solid hour of walking around fit take on and off. Machs were comfy for me but the skate itself didn’t work so again fit is king !
I feel like they are getting better but there are times I have to stop and take the skates off for a few before I get back on the ice. The first time skating in them I probably was 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off the ice. It was brutal
Mine took more than a few skates to fully break in. Also make sure you’re not lacing completely tight all the way up the boot. I go real tight the first few eyelets, just snug enough over the arch area… then nice in tight up the ankle eyelets. Also hopefully you got the right fit for your foot.
just got my hyper 1's. not sure if I wanna keep em or go 2's. what are your thoughts thus far? I also noticed (because im so anal) the left ankle bumpout on the outside of the skate seems to be more bumped out / noticeable on my left skate than my right. I even ordered another pair to compare and they are similar. Do you see this on yours?
I will have to check this out now that you mention it. Haven’t notice personally but maybe that’s some of the change from the OG. I really feel that if the hyp2 fits you with no issues it’s an amazing skate. But so is the hyp1. Both are comparable and the small difference in the holder stiffness isn’t enough to say the hyp2 is light years ahead of the 1. Side by side they have very minor on ice feel
ended going hype 2. def agree on the shorter fit and more snug. overall even though it felt a bit smaller than my hype 1, it felt better on my left foot, which was having issues in the hype 1.@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
Yeah that’s brutal. Those screws and plates are awful. Don’t know how long you have had them but getting mine out was best decision ever. I had pain walking, jumping, etc on my ankles and they took it out instant relief.
Words from my own brother and some teammate who are in true custom and true retail skate: they said comfy but the rest is negative, fast wearing and tearing appart, the blade snap in half. They are all re thinking their decision and planning to go back to CCM and Bauer!
I am lucky to have bought vapors that fit and skate well. I think sometimes there is this obsession from players to buy skates that are as small and as tight as possible because they have been told that's what will give them the best skating performance which is incorrect.
I’ve never been a fan of small and tight causss to many issues. I used to run a reg width skate with nothing but issues because I was told too. I switched to an ee a few years ago and was night and day. Fit is everything not what someone else tells you that’s for sure

Yep I’m with you on everything you said. Did you end up selling them?
yessir sidineswap last week, $700 no steel @@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
I was trying on the OG Hyperlite and the Hyperlite 2 today. Fit wise the smaller toe box on the 2’s is noticeable but otherwise I found the fits very similar. Just shows the importance of trying everything on if you have the chance
Yep for sure. So important on 1500$ skates lol

Tried Trues a few times, never could get to how high they sat on your feet or that hugging feel on ankles.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Man I miss the days the Supremes had the injected eyelids. I pulled the trigger on the XFs.
@@amirjon nice. I miss those too! Let me know your thoughts on the xf after a few skates
How did you like these compared to the mach's. I am in an older total one nxg supreme skate, thinking about these in a fit 2.
Both skates are great. If they fit. Best to take my advice in this video and wear them for an hour in store and be real sure
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews thanks I just got back on the ice after a long layoff in August. Things have really changed. Will try a bunch thanks for the vids! I am Langley also
@Hitmanjat awesome get back out there. Nice local! Love to hear
Is the overall fit in terms of volume the same with this than the og hyperlite? I know you said length was a bit off but getting fit 3 again felt more or less the same?
Also did you wear the same size and fit with the machs too?
Yes fit 3 was same
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviewsthanks. One last thing. Do you find the vapors still a bit narrower than the machs?
@@Chanmantroop10 it’s been awhile now but I really didn’t remember any fit differences overall.
How about try half size bigger if your toe touching the box regarding that Hyp2 a little bit short in length?
Yes if I knew this I would have gone one half size larger to avoid
I put the tuuks holders back on my hyperlite2's and man there unbelievable now i come from 2spro supreme so was worried i should of went with the machs but no way these skates are deadly absolutely love my hyperlite2's
That’s an interesting way to do it actually. Probably very effective! The skates are great if they fit well
I thought the new holder was supposed to have more flex in the rear?
It’s cast plastic so unsure how they were going about it but it doesn’t have flex at all it’s very rigid
If you went custom, would you not get the Powerfly? Ironically, I'm sitting here typing this with a broken ankle. Haha
Probably not it’s stiff and gives me foot pain so would stick with the Tuuk holder. Sorry to hear you have a broken ankle!
Would you say there is a noticeable difference between these and the 2x pros?
The 2x pro is a great skate. I would take a 2x pro over these from cost
I actually have the 2x pro right now. Is it worth the upgrade in your opinion?@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
Do you put the Machs over these? I’ve used the Machs about 5 times now and my feet still hurt after baking what seems like a dozen times
@@polesmoker2802 that’s awful makes
For
Such a crappy experience each skate
Mine took more than a few skates to fully break in. Also make sure you’re not lacing completely tight all the way up the boot. I go real tight the first few eyelets, just snug enough over the arch area… then nice in tight up the ankle eyelets. Also hopefully you got the right fit for your foot.
@@LizardSkinAwh that could be my problem. I synch it up all the way up the boot
Could you please do a review on blades - FLY Ti Black Steel vs FLY Vs Blade tech Black Stell. Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll add to my ideas catalogue
just got my hyper 1's. not sure if I wanna keep em or go 2's. what are your thoughts thus far?
@@mrhaths that’s good it’s all about that fit
I have screws on both sides of my ankle, I need nexus its the only skate im comfortable in and they stopped making them :
Yeah that’s brutal. Those screws and plates are awful. Don’t know how long you have had them but getting mine out was best decision ever. I had pain walking, jumping, etc on my ankles and they took it out instant relief.
Can you do a video on the new Bauer supreme shadow skates
I’ll definitely try!
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews alright thanks 👍
ever wanted to try the TRUE Custom SVH skates???
Thought about it. We will see where I end up since these are bugging me alot
Words from my own brother and some teammate who are in true custom and true retail skate: they said comfy but the rest is negative, fast wearing and tearing appart, the blade snap in half. They are all re thinking their decision and planning to go back to CCM and Bauer!
@@Max-sn5kt I could see it just from their other build quality
Wait what was the review on again got distracted ...

Going to show up at 8 rinks and heckle ya
Nice
If ur having problems with them try getting them rebaked
Yes have twice
Ever try the marsblade holders? If you have your old skates, you could mount them on those
havent no, i sold my old skates so cant do it up. the mars blades do seem
like a gimmick thiugh
I think you are someone who would benefit from moving to a Quad or Ellipse profile
I’m running a cag one right now unsure difference though I like it
