Beer League Bum hockey reviews
Канада
Добавлен 13 янв 2021
Unbiased, self financed, no punches pulled hockey gear review channel. I have loved trying the latest and greatest hockey gear since I started playing 15 years ago. I always bought the top gear, sticks, skates and protective. I now want to help others by preventing them from buying a 350$ stick they will hate. If its new and just released I will be reviewing it so you can make the best decision in your gear purchase. But also, I do this for fun. I'm just a beer leaguer that's 40 years old with Rheumatoid arthritis so don't need no bs, so keep it clean other wise you outa here.
CCM ghost blade repair
After breaking my ghost only a few days after warranty I finally sent it for repair and the results are a bit of a shock. This could be a solution for those who can't put down ccm sticks but keep breaking the blades, like me.
For all those willing to support the channel my " buy me a coffee" Patreon is up to help me keep this channel non bias and purchase more gear. I cant review gear that companies give me like the others other wise it wont be sincere! Help by donating some "stick tape" to the channel here

CCM blades took to blade feel over pinginess in late 2023 in the FTGhost, and then the AS6 pro. But now the leaked specs of the FT& pro and Trigger 9 pro show they are sticking with helicoid and thats not good news for CCM. These blades are garbage

Thanks for the reviews. In your opinion, what is the better choice between these two? 2 pack of ft6 pro, pro stock, for $350 or 2 pack of trigger 7 pro, pro stock for $410. Thank you.
Neat choices I would take the ft6 just as it’s a more versatile stick
@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews That's the way I was leaning. Currently in a ft3 pro I got from my local AHL equipment sale and it's been solid for me as a D man. Thanks for the quick reply. Glad you're feeling better.
@adambarnes4191 yeah if you like ft3 ft6 just a slightly improved version in my opinion. Thanks much appreciated
Coudl you do a review on the code encrypt pro
Will work on it
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews thank you
@mostdevious for sure
Haha I played fall ball vs you a couple weeks ago. I knew I recognized you from somewhere! What sticks do you recommend for a fellow high level BLB..
Oh no way that’s awesome. Should have said hi. Oh man loaded question depends on your shot style and play style
It’s true with a lot of top end pro sporting equipment. The pro’s don’t care how long it lasts they just get another. Similar to sticks $500 and it snaps throw me another I’m not paying. lol!
Exactly!
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews apparently Hedman stated he gets 10 games out of a pair, I’ve read where nhl players go through anywhere from 10 to 25 pair per season. Durability is their least concern. lol!
@Pat19997 Jesus that’s nuts and sounds awesome Lol
did the blade feel massively different after the repair? Ghost has that "soft blade" did the carbon take that soft feel away and how was the curve after the repair?
Curve was perfect, much stiffer blade. No more soft feel was much better
Man I remember when Kaner started rocking that all black with a bit of red APX LE skates. Those were fire. I have the hyperlites and I’m torn between the Hyperlite 2s, XF Pros, and the Machs which u can still find online. The matte colour of the shadows make it seem like a really cheap skate to me. The step steel on the ccms is a nice touch but ive always been Bauerzzzz. The ccm is also very comfortable in store due to all the padding.
The ccm can be more comfortable but I really find their skates “clunky” feeling. Very heavy. Mach was my fav fit but I prefer the injected lacing. If I was buying skates right now it would be Mach over all of those.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Man I miss the days the Supremes had the injected eyelids. I pulled the trigger on the XFs.
@@amirjon nice. I miss those too! Let me know your thoughts on the xf after a few skates
Can u review Sherwood encrypt

You should review Sherwood encrypt pro
Definitely gonna try, just comes down to budget, RUclips and patreon revenue
I am so happy it’s you making this video. I typed search and wa so relieved to see p28 v p90tm by you,sir 🫡
This is crazyyyy old. I re used the p90tm again maybe 3-4 months back when I p28 wasn’t available and still stand by they are pretty interchangeable with the exception that the p90tm being a nice balance where those who struggle with the p28 more aggressive style. I should do a follow up to this.
Hey, glad you are back ! HockeyTutorship recently made a review of the KYC Stealth Pro. 259 CAD (190 USD), 335g, low kick stick. They glazed it like no others 😂 I would be really curious to see it go through your review process. Welcome back, looking foward to your next videos !
Thanks I saw that. Had me curious because clearly that was a bought and paid for advertisement from Kyc. Maybe it is good but you just never know
maybe tape your stick heal to toe?
If you believe tape adds strength to a blade with weaknesses I can’t help you
Honestly it doesn't make sense why they try to make sticks. My LHS is a big true store skates wise so of course they stock their sticks up the a$$. No one buys them until they go on clearance, or if ever. I mean with Bauer, CCM, Sherwood, and Warrior, we dont need any more competition. Esp since no one really in the higher leagues uses their sticks. Says a lot right there.
I never see true sticks either
"the biggest companies make the worst stuff" - Dankpods
Yes and no I think. Lots to unpack there
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviewswell, alot of companies are making their stuff worse so that it would break easier meaning more profits. It's not quite the same with hockey sticks since they will break at some point, but I still stand by what I said. When Bauer tested the hyperlite they would know about the outer layer scratching off, but they still sold it anyway. CCM should know about their blades cracking if they tested their sticks, but they sold them anyway. I'm not saying for sure Bauer and CCM are making their sticks worse, but it weird still.
@@DumbOrangeFrog yep agree they should know and fix!
Strange... I have Trigger 8 pro, had 7 pro and 6 pro and there is no Helicoid technology on them? We have "Dualfeel" technology and never heard about it any issue..(which doesn't mean anything..) maybe DualFeel is Helicoid for european market? 🤷♂
Helicoid is only started on as6, trigger 9, trigger 8 had dual feel but not helicoid so yes that is correct. It has made it to ft7 and xf pro now
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews now it is clear ! Thanks man!
@@killabyz no worries
Top end hockey gear is crazy expensive. Hope you find multiple source of revenue for your channel to keep this going
Working on it that’s for sure!!
How did you like these compared to the mach's. I am in an older total one nxg supreme skate, thinking about these in a fit 2.
Both skates are great. If they fit. Best to take my advice in this video and wear them for an hour in store and be real sure
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews thanks I just got back on the ice after a long layoff in August. Things have really changed. Will try a bunch thanks for the vids! I am Langley also

How did these hold up long term ?

That was my concern. Thanks 🙏

Oh 15+ years ago Bauer composite sticks were my go to sticks with blades Clark, Lindros, Bure, were my favorite patterns very similar to Kane P88 today, CCm joined the stick world and then Hossa and Datsyuk P38(I have 2 still in action) became my go to curves, now they are out the door and its P28 P29 and the hybrid of the two its time to get use to them I guess or find another brand
Retail curve options do suck. If you’re a special Curve type of guy pro stock is way to go
Also glad to see you back boss it’s been a long couple months without you I haven’t gotten a single piece of equipment since you stopped, running thin on gear atm so looking forward to all the upcoming reviews currently only have a ADV dressed as a hype2 and a ft6pro dressed as a trigger 8pro left in the arsenal
Dang that’s commitment lol will probably take me a bit to run through the sticks and may leave a couple on the table since the releases were sometime ago focus on stuff coming
My ft7 pro snapped in half cause of some fat idiot fell on it at ball hockey, my ft6pro blade got fixed by integral it was amazing only issue is I put a lot in my shot and it started stress cracking along the top amazing where they fixed it honestly gonna fix my ccm blades with integral but gonna ask him to do more of the blade so the stress crack doesn’t occurred from old spot amazing work this highly recommend
Having someone fall on its the worst
Curious as to when the Taggs stick review will come. Ive been considering getting one but havnt seen a serious review done yet on one. Your reviews are better than anyone elses
It’s mostly filmed. Probably can release next in 10 days
if you can get 100 goals you shouldnt be playing in that division. play with people your own skill level
It’s spread over about 6 teams and 25 games x6 teams. A lot of players put up numbers not just me. I’m 40 years old, have multiple health conditions but stay in shape as best I can I very much am at my skill level. I also have to show I can play the game decently to be preaching on a RUclips channel and discussing gear.
Trigger 9 pro is ass. The new helicod blades take away puck feel and give it that wood feeling. Going back to Bauer
I bought it to compare to the twitch for low kick dominance.
Had mine since may ‘23 and go super try hard every time I skate multiple times a week. Theyve held up great (knock on wood) the Amp flex hasn’t degraded one bit. See clip on my page for reference.
That’s good stuff my originals these, I sold to a team mate and they toast so prob just luck of the draw
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews what are you running these days? Will probably stick with bauer after these but dreading the day I have to update
@@JSawmill63 I have hyp2 skates. Still having fit issues with them though never quite fit right. I will probably do a swap with whatever the next new skate release is this coming summer which should be a Vapor. It’s weird my hyp1 fit so well so here’s hoping
so like ft5 pro good and anything above that is not good for durability?
Ft5 is most durable I’ve used of the cams recently. I would stick that if you like the jet speeds and don’t wanna replace them monthly lol
Did you shoot the Trigger 9 and QR6 Pro in store? If so, what made you go with the Trigger?
I did yes. And the 9x4. Trigger just has more power for all shots despite being a low kick stick. I can rip wristers but I can also take good slappers the qr6 is worst for any other shot. I liked the feel and grip though but couldn’t justify a one trick pony shot type since my other leagues have slappers
These things are way too expensive for how little support or quality control they put in to them. I shudder to think how much profit they pull in per stick. That said, I've had amazing luck with CCM sticks. Have had a Trigger7 Pro for like 2 years and it still has that pop.
Trigger 7 is legit best build of the series
Last month I broke the blade off of my Proto R. Luckily I have an integral hockey 20 min away. It added 20 grams but the stick pretty much feels the same.
Totally worth it for a proto
Great review on Integral hockey repairs. They really need a Vancouver blade repair guy here as well as the shipping just kills it. Your videos are great and it’s nice to see you actually using the products vs other (cough cough HockeyReviews) who just buy stuff and then return it unused. Hopefully you can keep the channel going with the $$ it takes. Maybe just need to pass on the skate reviews as that’s way too much $$$
Thanks! Yeah they need a lower mainland based one, but after I filmed this video I actually noticed that at sportsplex the shop in their has an integral sign so maybe they can. I’ll ask and update on another post. Thanks hopefully as I get more videos out and the patreon between it all will make it work. Skates are definitely a killer just to expensive for me to purchase and the return for views is to small
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I've called and asked about this, as I am a relic from the past who uses the square toe lidstrom curve and cannot move on from it as hard as I try lol. So the Abbotsford rep send me to the Duncan guy about getting a blade repair done, which i'm guessing you sent yours too. So hopefully the Abbotsford guy can do blade repairs as well in the future, as I believe he just does shaft repairs. Maybe with the attention they are now getting on RUclips from yourself and those crazy UK guys, they will take notice and see if they can expand here.
@@btoz6237 let’s hope so the more these top sticks break the more business they gonna get lol
Thanks for the vid great content. Why do tou think ccm released thr trigger 7, 8 and 9 so close together? The ft6 pro is still popular
Ccm has a habit of retooling to get small changes into production. Bauer warrior true doesn’t do this. In fact they barely make changes even at the 2 year cycle. Small tweak to the tracer over sync in weight for example. Where every ccm release has a tweak. New blade for dual feel from trigger 7,8 to helicoid on 9. Same with jet speed and tacks lines. They throw the helicoid on the stick as fast as they can to get to market. The problem with this is those changes happen least 6-12 month in advance to que production, so if something is wrong ( helicoid breaks to fast ) they can’t do anything about it until the next refresh cycle that takes a year. They probably planned helicoid on their lines 2 years ago and now they eating it

Oh yea I forgot to tell u about True sticks have u tried the new Hzrdus cause True actually switched factories for their sticks I'm curious if the defects were the factory's quality control or the blueprints for the stick. Anyway, the new Hzrdus is the first stick from the new factory.

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews it was said reinforced but u never know by how much

@@alexpayne1364 haha. No kididng
Can i suggest you something, instead of going to higher price point, go the second price point, they are basicly the same stick with some feature less and more material for better durability , exemple the trigger 9k does'nt have the helicoidal blade. And i've discovered something on my sherwood legend 1, by removing the cap at the end of the stick, we can see a little sticker inside and it says legend pro. So maybe it can be good to investigate if the brands are selling the same stick at 2 different price!
That’s bizarre this is a retail? I could see that at pro stocks. The second price point will be a good stick. It’s below that it’s not really worth it since you can go to pro stocks or last years previous years models for way cheaper
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews exactly, it's a retail version and i've just look at my retail tmp1 and it has the same kind of sticker that says tmp pro inside the shaft. After work today i will go to the store and look other brands if they do the same thing
@@Max-sn5kt thats crazy wonder if thats a mistake or actually something that happens. something to dig into for sure.
Probably same shaft different blade. Or the sticker is for the shaft dimensions
@@Chanmantroop10 yeah could be for sure

Put the link in description if you can!!😅 5$ for the Vision review
I will. Vision is a for sure any “special” stick is always worth a review
How do you feel about the durability between the CCM Trigger 9 Pro and the Bauer Tracer sticks?
I just got the trigger 9 so we will see if anything as improved on the blade with testing. The tracer I have a feeling isn’t going to be greatly durable due to its weight drop. Right now the very top end sticks have been having some challenges as everyone chases each other with weight. Will be interesting to see what stick kind of comes out on top for durability is the top end price point as I test more sticks and rebuild my tier list
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Thanks for your reply and keep up the good work!
@@mathiasjonsson3925 no prob and thanks!
I have a local Integral rep here in the Tampa area. I had him repair the blade on an STX Halo stick that had some cracking and delaminating and its better than ever. I highly recommend using them if you can make it cost effective.
That’s dope, how was the halo stick always wanted to try it but never came to Canada
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Im just a low level beer leaguer but in my humble opinion, I loved it. I don’t have a clapper to really speak of but I do have a decent wrister and the stick was great for that. Even after the blade was repaired, the puck feel was great for handling. The thing I liked the most besides how light the stick was is that it felt balanced overall.
@@mezera787 yeah I heard good things
I'm so confused. Hockey Tutelage keep telling me that ccm's are basically bullet proof? They specifically talk up those "new" blades for the durability! Who to believe? lol Glad your back
Haha hockey tutorship gets ccm sticks for free so of course they aren’t going to trash it. Awhile back they did a video about hockey sticks breaking and then failed to mention any brand and made it general and generic. It was a pathetic attempt
I have had good experiences with integral! They repaired one of my vapor advs back in the day and the blade repair lasted until the shaft gave out! If you can avoid shipping it is absolutely worth it to get repaired !
For the adv and other “special” sticks like the ghost I think it’s worth it
I'm gonna be honest. I think that with shipping costs buying last year's model would be more worth the money.
Last years model always a solid deal for sure.
Have you tried the new Sherwood Encrypt pro yet? Trying to decide between some pro stock Encrypt pro sticks and FT5 pro sticks. I knew you really liked both the TMP pro and FT5 pro but wanted to see if you had tried the Encrypt Pro and had an opinion if it was a step forward from the FT5 pro.
Not yet but it’s on my list here quickly
Seeing you posted gave me such a dopamine boost
Well hell yah I’m glad
Can u do a tracer review
Can you also do a ft7 not the pro just ft7 because it doesn’t have the helicoid blade
Tracer isn’t worth reviewing, it’s to divisive with the 5 sides. Also, the ft7 will be slightly heavier, and have a better blade then the pro, with same kick point, if you like stiffer load as per this review the stick will be the same without the blade
Ok thnks
@@defensebrody5399 cheers
You only use 75 flex?
Correct
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I’m 5’10 155 thinking abt going up to 70 from 65 sr shaft what you think?
@@cadenellickson5437 weight really has nothing to do with it, check out my stick flex video on my channel. It comes down to your shot style, what you’re trying to accomplish and what your current shot is doing with your current kick point.
