It’s just a budget thing. I really buy gear I want to use and try. Sure if I had endless money I definitely would for everyone. Who knows, maybe one day this will be big enough I can start investing in those pcs of gear and can do it.
Great Vid! I play college hockey in the states and Ill say that your methods and thoughts are significantly better than anyone on youtube and even some of my teammates lol. Love to see it!
Nice work on the video per the usual! I think I remember what you’re talking about when you say the blade is light weight. When we were trying it out, I remember mishandling a little when stick handling. I’ll give it another look when I head up this month. I’m kinda leaning towards an 80 flex ASV Pro right now. BTW, I don’t know what Ryan Reynolds movie/show that was but it was hilarious!
I finally got myself an FT6 pro based off this review. I'm typically a mid kick guy. I tried the FT5 Pro last year and hated it! Felt like it had no shot power, so eventually sold it after a few sessions. I gave the FT6 pro a go last night and I gotta say I'm very impressed. I even scored a lovely bar down snapper that zipped off the stick. Had a couple of slappers that felt real good too. So yeah, great review! I'm really happy with it so far and I would highly recommend the FT6 pro to any D man, far more dangerous snappers than mid kickers and the slappers still got the power.
Been running the 6pro for a couple of months now, and I gotta say it's a banging stick. Just a great all-rounder. Had an Lx2 pro delivered last week, so far quite like it, but only had 1 session with it. Out later tonight for training.
Nice! I do find the ft6 is a better stick then the lx2. Keep me posted on your thoughts. The lx2 feels to tradional for me. The OG felt different than other sticks which is why it was so good. The lx2 could be a team stick if it had no graphics. Heavy and just tradional in all aspects
Thinking you need to rebrand to Beer League Legend Hockey! Ha, I have really relied on your unbiased reviews…thanks for all of your efforts. Hope the channel keeps growing.
Hey Justin, thanks for the great content. My son plays juniors and this is his new weapon of choice. We went from the agent to the ultralite and now the FT6 pro. Hes had it for over a month and durability is really holding up well. He agrees that the shot release is good from snap, wristers and clappers. He did say it took him a bit to get used to going from low kick to the hybrid but he says its very effective for his playing style. Thanks for the all the great content and info. Keep it up!
Glad he got used to it. I really do feel it’s the best of all worlds. In a game you can’t always have everything working for big slappers or quick releases depending on what stick you’re using and the hybrid just makes all those shots lethal in any situation
I broke my Warrior LX pro and went to FT6 pro after seeing your video and i like it. Next time i am looking for stick i am waching your revievs to see if it is worth the money
Great video! I still believe your tier list to be the best all-time piece of stick knowledge! It matches up with my experience. QUESTION: I'd like to upgrade to the ft6 pro from the ft5 pro (FT5 pro has been my all-time fav stick 2nd to the LXpro), would the lighter weight of the stick mean I should get a higher flex? 75 or 85? I've gone back to your stick flex & Kick point videos. On my Ft5s I use an 80 flex cut down about 2-3" so its maybe "like a "82" flex". I'm a centerman typically, but my shot varies from both a "Matthews style & quick snappers like yours" (that's why I like the hybrid so much) I'm 6'1" around 220 lbs. Go 75 flex and cut it to more of a 77? or 85 cut to more of a 87?
Thanks I thought it was clever myself ;) The weight felt great in my usual 75 flex on ft6 pro so don’t recomend trying anything else if you’re good with your current flex. I felt no change there The weight, feel and overall polish of the stick feels much better than the ft5 which was still a great stick. I think you will be happy.
Justin, thanks for the review. Been waiting on this one and am, by chance, going to a store in Malmö, Sweden tomorrow to pick up some new gear, including FT6 Pro skates (as the heel section of the AS3 Pros have gone soft), and was considering a couple of FT6 Pro sticks as well for the season, given that I really liked the FT5 Pro. I was wondering if the FT6 Pro flex rating is similar to the FT5 Pro? Usually I use flex 75 but am considering stepping up a bit, perhaps 80 just for giggles to try something different; I also use about 1,5 inch carbon extension on the sticks so that reduces the flex somewhat. Given the weak Swedish currency, the FT6 Pro sr. stick is just 365 CAD or 271 USD, so pretty fair priced all things considered.
Hey Anders, I didn’t notice any flex difference and I left it out of the video as it was long as is, but I had the ft5 pro with me for comparison and didn’t notice anything in flex or kick point, shot etc the ft5 was still very comparable

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Hadn't thought of that. I got an LX Pro in 75 flex (coming from an 70 flex FT5 Pro) and it's super hard to load anything perfect besides perfectly set up slappers. Another suggestion, I have thej Tacks-X helmet (had it for 18 months or so now?) - was always curious to know why itr did so poorly in the Virginia Uni testing. As a beer leaguer who coaches, plays 2x week or more etc, I've put this lid through the wringer and it's been awesome. Can't get a decent answer on its testing in the lab rating so badly, but on my bonce, it's had a few tests, and didn't dun dun me no harm, pahhhh ,... droool droolll CTE win! Or something ... Curious to know your thoughts on helmets.
If you do some digging, you will find that the testing and way of eating and going through those helmets is inherently flawed. The way the game works cannot be mimicked in my opinion with some tests like that. The tacks x was one of my fav helmets too and in the end a helmet can prevent outside damage but it cannot stop your brain from rattling around the skull, in the end I just personally feel fit will give best function not a lab test. But I’m no scientist
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Yeah, all true, still interesting. I've been playing contact sports since I was a little kid, and hockey for ~20 years or so, thus I have a keen interest in helmets. It's probably too late for me, our era, you got a knock, you kept going or you were a sook! Anyway ... As long as we remember that a lid is going to stop breaking bones, but not brain rattles .. Then at least we're a bit more careful if we do get a hit. There's a few threads on reddit that pan the VT tests, but not with any thoroughness, juist "it sucks" and that's not a terribly useful thing! I did see somewhere that CCM had hooked up with a neurotrauma unit at a uni in Ottawa I think? But they didn't make much of it, which seemed odd given the focus on concussion these days.
@@bleve97 yeah I just did a quick google and found a lot of it. When it comes to the tacks x the fit is just so good I just don’t see how it would do poorly if you got creamed in a game
Think you should do something different and review the Nexus E5 Pro. Bang for your buck, I think it's the best stick on the market. It's $220 US, but it's
Coming using now. I have hyperlites too. Just depends what you prefer the hyperlite is very mobile and streamlined the ft6 is nice protection and slightly bulkier but not as crazy as like nexus, tacks or supreme
You have to give some credit to Hockey Tutorial for their video on the Hyperlite 2. Chris actually bought the stick for Tommy, $374 US. Apparently, Bauer didn't like some of the things they said in their past videos. I agree that the Hockey Reviews guy does some silly stuff. Banging a puck on the blade doesn't tell me anything. Shooting wristers in the basement doesn't tell me much either. Also, he is a goalie, so I don't know how much I can trust his reviews on player sticks. I think his biggest problem is that he doesn't have the money to buy this stuff and do proper reviews. After watching Nasher gush about the Sling hockey stick, I think he is just a tool. Looking forward to more of your videos. It's great getting an honest take on such expensive equipment. The only complaint that I have is that I can't afford any of the sticks you review. 😅
Edit: I got confused and I was talking only about Hockey Reviews. Hockey Tutorial are a bunch of clowns and worse than useless for anything other than marketing to less educated comsumers. Nothing wrong with being bad, but I cringe everytime I see Tommy because you cant really trust someone to judge differences in sticks when they don't have their shooting mechanics down and have trouble shooting consistently without even changing gear. ------- Yeah and I think he [Hockey Reviews] tries to be as objective as he can but i think he used to be a warrior partner then he gave them a bad review and they dropped him and now he's more apprehensive when reviewing things from any other partners (if he ha's any right now). I do agree with everything you say though.
Yeah. I’ve been sent some DMs about hockey tutorial and the hyperlite 2. I’m not really sure what to make Of it. Something about breaking it right away and not mentioning it in the review. I have had 6 people send me it. It’s weird. Appreciate your support and I totally understand in the costs. That’s why I try and be so objective. If you can afford one or are saving up for one last thing you wanna do is get a review on the sling like you said, and get it and you have the biggest turd ever.
I took one to CARHA in March, a pre-pro one. I really liked it, a 75 flex, P90TM. It got broken in a faceoff when a Finn decided to take revenge on my wiining a collision in the slot on one of their players... FFS .. anyway! Finally got another one a couple of weeks ago, and it's good. I prefer it to the Trigger 7 pro I used before it.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews In non-checking you can hold your ground and brace, so I did, and this dill ran into me, ooops ... Next faceoff, their center, right in front of the ref, "slash", snapped the stick in half, no penalty! *sigh*. Pre-prod so I couldn't get another one until the production release arrived! And you know how it is, once you've used the latest and greatest, you can't go back!
For some reason I like Bauers over everything else even though most people say ccm is better. I’ve tried the as4 pro and ft5 but I always go back to nexus
I feel bauer sticks feel more refined and the textures are more refined, blade is sanded better which is important for me as I don't use tape on my blade. rn using a sync. Also nexus has the best durability out of any stick-line I have used, I went thtough so many sticks last season, ft5 pro, true 7x, ft5, agent, 2 warrior novium pros and a novium, and more, but the sync didn't break.
@@AlanenJ pretty crazy. Must have had good luck with the sync. Generally I found it about the same in durability as some of those. Except true and warrior being way less
Hey, Boomer, I know you’re miles above my hockey level and thus you tend to test higher end stuf. I wonder if you’d be into testing mid level sticks. I for instance have no clue what midkick sticks are worth my money in the mid/value stick area. Nevertheless I very much appreciate your work and keep watching every single video you post. Cheers.
Hey! My constraint of course is budget. Very difficult for me to do it all. Hence why I want more out of channels that get stuff for free. With that said, usually a top end stick plays with the characteristics of the ones below it. With really weight changing the most from The top to mid. After that it can get a bit hard to predict. But like the tMP 1 plays pretty much same as tMP pro. Ft6 same as ft6 pro. Etc. so if the top level is good the others usually are for their respected price points. Same is if it’s bad. The 9x3 problems show up the the 7x3 ( I just tested one) and so on. Appreciate the watch and comment
@@paulielamothe4134 recoil is better shots are quite a bit harder. The lx2 pro is a very tradional stick in my opinion. Everything is ok. To me, a stick less than 400 grams feels too light in my hands. I had ProStockHockeySticks make me some custom sticks with their 365 gram tech artificially weighted to 425 grams ... in short: Perfection. I hope one day Geppetto offers a hybrid one day.
I hope he does to. I suggested it to him. I’m the opposite need the lightest possible with some durability due to my arthritis. But I totally get what you’re saying on the weight
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Light wins, always. @@mircomelischko4785 Interesting experience. I guess they either got mislabled or thats some truly terrible quality control.
I will say I've had two FT% Pros in 70 and they felt the same. Got an FT6 Pro in 70 on the way now. I'll let you guys know how it compares to the FT5 and LX Pro.
@@mircomelischko4785 that was my thoughts on lx2 as well.
i found the hyp2rlite in a hockey shop and it has a new holder design, idk if i like it but it looks fine
Been using them for a couple months now so I can finally drop a review
When it comes to the tacks x the fit is just so good I just don’t see how it would do poorly if you got creamed in a game
likewise ... I've never had a helmet as comfortable and well vented (not surprizing given the design!) @@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
Thanks you justin !
Thank you! For watching
Think you should do something different and review the Nexus E5 Pro. Bang for your buck, I think it's the best stick on the market. It's $220 US, but it's
Other than weight the e5 is going to be a sync or geo. Which are great sticks. But grabbing one for review is hard for me since already did the sync
Would you still recommend the As4 pro? (currently on sale for 200$) or should I wait to see if the ft5 or ft6 pro become a bit more affordable?
200$ is solid. It’s not very durable though so expect it to blow up before warranty is over. Ft5 if you can find is more durable
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Okay thank you. One last thing, how is the durability on the trigger 7 pro?
@@felixdubois9140 it’s decent. Better then previous gen. The ft5, trigger and as5 are decent durability
Sherwood Rekker legend when you get a chance!

Have you tried the FT6 protective? Need new shinnies but not sure if I should go with the hyperlite or FT6 pro
Coming using now. I have hyperlites too. Just depends what you prefer the hyperlite is very mobile and streamlined the ft6 is nice protection and slightly bulkier but not as crazy as like nexus, tacks or supreme
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Great, appreciate the response!
@@AustinKirch no prob
Hi Justin, I still have an ft4 pro, didn't break it! Do you think the upgrade worth it apart the durability factor? Thx
The ft6 is very similar to the ft4. I would wait till you break it and do the upgrade then. I preferred the ft4 over the 5 for weight alone.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews OK 🙏
-------
Yeah and I think he [Hockey Reviews] tries to be as objective as he can but i think he used to be a warrior partner then he gave them a bad review and they dropped him and now he's more apprehensive when reviewing things from any other partners (if he ha's any right now).
I do agree with everything you say though.
Yeah. I’ve been sent some DMs about hockey tutorial and the hyperlite 2. I’m not really sure what to make
Of it. Something about breaking it right away and not mentioning it in the review. I have had 6 people send me it. It’s weird. Appreciate your support and I totally understand in the costs. That’s why I try and be so objective. If you can afford one or are saving up for one last thing you wanna do is get a review on the sling like you said, and get it and you have the biggest turd ever.
i just recently bought the ft6 pro and to me the shot with it is insane, however i feel its really stiff and stick handling feels strange to me
Hybrids always feel stiffer. And with you on stick handling
Can you review the new legend pro from sherwood for us?
Working on it but I take a bit to release a new stick video to do my due diligence
(and yes, HT etc are bullshit!)
Yeah it’s a better stick then the trigger. Far more versatile and better shooting. That sucks someone broke your stick. I’ve been there!
(they were up 5 nil or more anyway, should'a chirped "hey Russia, why you do that?"!)
@@bleve97 haha 😂
Does anybody know when the rekker legend pro come out? Looking to pick it up
Already out at sportchek and Poe hockey life
Right! Still waiting for it to come out in the states
@@cbiz1221 that sucks! Hopefully soon for you
For some reason I like Bauers over everything else even though most people say ccm is better. I’ve tried the as4 pro and ft5 but I always go back to nexus
Depends what nexus. The sync is good I just can’t deal with the 5 sides for me
I feel bauer sticks feel more refined and the textures are more refined, blade is sanded better which is important for me as I don't use tape on my blade. rn using a sync.
Also nexus has the best durability out of any stick-line I have used, I went thtough so many sticks last season, ft5 pro, true 7x, ft5, agent, 2 warrior novium pros and a novium, and more, but the sync didn't break.
@@AlanenJ You gotta chill on breaking them sticks dawg.
@@AlanenJ pretty crazy. Must have had good luck with the sync. Generally I found it about the same in durability as some of those. Except true and warrior being way less
I’m in the exact same boat. I have tried 3 ccm sticks because I like everything else ccm but I just keep going back to the nexus line
My ft6pro weight was 380 grams without the endcap. Maybe cause mine is 85 flex and yours is 75 flex? I'm not sure...
Tough to say but mine significantly less than that
Yep its gonna be called ft7 pro! Looks Similar to the jetspeed og and with a softer blade, yesss
The soft blade is interesting but comes out next summer so it’s a ways away
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews for sure!
I like the 6 blade better than the 5, it could get a little softer still and it just gonna get better IMO
@@ben__ford9235 hopefully works out
Hey, Boomer, I know you’re miles above my hockey level and thus you tend to test higher end stuf. I wonder if you’d be into testing mid level sticks. I for instance have no clue what midkick sticks are worth my money in the mid/value stick area. Nevertheless I very much appreciate your work and keep watching every single video you post. Cheers.
Sherwood TMP1 its most of the tmp pro for less.
Hey! My constraint of course is budget. Very difficult for me to do it all.
Hence why I want more out of channels that get stuff for free. With that said, usually a top end stick plays with the characteristics of the ones below it. With really weight changing the most from
The top to mid.
Appreciate the watch and comment

lx2 pro next?
Probably yes.
Should I get this or the Alpha Lx2 pro?
Ft6 pro
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews What makes the FT6 pro better than the Alpha LX2 pro?
@@paulielamothe4134 recoil is better shots are quite a bit harder. The lx2 pro is a very tradional stick in my opinion. Everything is ok. @@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Custom Hockey Sticks. Get them built to your specs for like 1/2 the price
ah gotcha. i plan on doing a video on the companies that make the lower priced sticks soonish. overall generally i have tested a few ( swift for example ) usually they can match weights or better but without massive R and D the stick themselves dont perform like the top. @@Bassani97
Despite feeling "too light", you can move it faster, feel the puck better, little girls with weak arms can use the stick one handed instead of this ancient insistance on "two hands!" (NOOO!!!! FFS NOOOOO!!!!!). Unless it's breaking every 5 minutes, lighter is better (esp at the blade end, where it's giving the most torque to your grip). Alright we get it, we get that hockey influencers/reviewers aren't that great. We get that some of them take money from manufacturers to advertise the product.
Now can you talk about the stick?
Every one of you videos is now littered with nonsense about other people's videos and channels. It's like getting spammed with ads and commercials (which some of those influencers/reviewers do). Why do you feel the need to constantly go at these guys for large portions of your video? It was funny and creative the first few times, but I came here to hear about the stick, not to be inundated over and over again about what you think of other people.
