    So I finally got this sunscreen and absolutely love it! It’s what I’ve been needing in this dry winter. My skin is happy. I’m a similar skin tone to ramón and I noticed that when I just globbed everything on my face at once (instead of doing a little at a time), I did have a bit of a white cast and that was with quite a bit of rubbing. But after I let it sit for 5 minutes and did a final rub through, the white cast was completely gone.
    I did a half and half comparison of this and the pipette, and the pipette was easier to rub in but it stayed greasy on my face whereas with the kinship, as ramón said, it settles into the skin nicely.
    My skin felt super hydrated and moisturized. It didn’t feel like I was wearing a sunscreen, but just layered on a nice, thick cream. Also it smelled like chocolate to me.
    I got the kinship moisturizer as well and am in love. I was using Laneige water cream and the Belif truth bomb, but this is way more moisturizing. I’ll save those for the summer.

    YAY, so glad you reviewed this! I’ve been curious to hear your thoughts because when my skin is dry, I LOVE this, but when I’m having more of an oily day it can feel too heavy. None of my friends can agree on this sunscreen- two of my friends said it’s a matte texture, but my boyfriend’s mom and I think it’s super moisturizing and dewy. It’s so funny how subjective it is, it totally depends on your skin type.

    •  3 года назад

      Yeah, it definitely is emollient and it leaves me radiant, so I imagine it’ll work great for dryer skin types. I saw your review mentioning people saying matte and I was like ‘matte WHERE?!’

    I have very warm skin, and my issue with zinc sunscreens is the pinky-lilac cast, so I wish that more formulations would focus on neutralizing the cooler tone as well as not making it ashy, because even with less ashy sunscreens like the Biossance squalane sunscreen, I look like I put a purple color corrector over my whole face.

    I ordered this when it first came out and I was so excited to try it but it is wayyyy too heavy and greasy feeling on my combo oily skin. This also gathered horribly in my beard. Their customer service is top notch and they refunded me and told me to just give this to someone else. I really wish it was less emollient since I really loved the sweet cake smell of this!

    •  3 года назад +2

      I'm happy to hear their customer service is stellar! My experience with Kinship has been top notch as well. What I will say is that I agree with you whole heartedly, especially with the beard part, but at the moment my skin can take the extra emolliency here in the UK transition between fall and winter. I would never consider this for summer lol.

      And yes! I think it's nicely moisturizing. Ramon do you have a video that describes the makeup you use for these videos? I mean the kind of foundation - liquid, powder, or cream - and your application process. And how do you apply sunscreen over it?
    And could you please address the size of sunscreen tubes? For this to be the most effective anti-aging product and the only one that actually protects us from a deadly illness why is sold in such small amounts? It's usually not cheap either. On top of that we're told to reapply for it to truly protect us so we zoom right through the tubes. I think it be at least 8 ounces for people to comfortably use as directed. Shouldn't we have as much sunscreen as we do shampoo or body lotion?

    •  3 года назад +1

      I have quite a few videos where I discuss my makeup! It's generally minimal Fenty Beauty.
      I 100% agree with you about the sizes, and I reference it when I mention how much product you get for how much they charge, but I really cannot give a reasoning or do anything about the fact that 50 mL seems to be the standard sunscreen size, as heartbreaking as it is. That's why I generally try to stay below a $20-$25 budget for sunscreens since I need to be able to recommend something on the affordable side since it IS something that needs to be used frequently and liberally. It gets tricky with mineral sunscreens since I make quite a few videos on requests and recommended sunscreens, and finding an elegant textured mineral sunscreen that leaves minimal to no white cast on tan/dark/deep skin seems to be shooting for the stars. Plus, sunscreens are also apparently very difficult and costly to manufacture.

    •  3 года назад +2

      I def recommend trying it without the moisturizer. It in itself functions beautifully as a moisturizer, and oftentimes layering too much of moisturizing products means a less elegant experience

  • @leonbarhoum4502
    @leonbarhoum4502 3 года назад +1

    Why do you recommend blotting? I think that would affect the protection you are getting if you do that. Dr dray has talked about this

    •  3 года назад +2

      From my formulation perspective: The crucial thing with sunscreens and getting the protection they advertise is applying them evenly and allowing them to set down to form the film of protection. Once the sunscreen filters are allowed to ADsorb, set in, and form the layer of protection they need, all thats really getting blotted away is the excess emollient ingredients. But again, give the sunscreen time to set in. No less than 5 minutes. Even mineral sunscreens work in this way. Film formers are an essential part of how sunscreens get formulated.
      Blotting CAREFULLY removes minimal amounts of sunscreen protection if any at all. Applying primer and makeup on top of makeup allows a larger opportunity for protection disruptions, but even then I barely worry.

    No one does as throuogh of a sunscreen review as you thank you for your content!!!
    Would you say this take about 10-15 minutes to fully settle in on top of a regular skin care routine?

    •  3 года назад

      I’d say roughly 10 minutes specifically for the white cast to set down for more rich skin tones. With mineral sunscreens, you want to wait the 10-15 for the sunscreen to set down in general. Depending on your skin type, though, this is moisturizing enough to take place of moisturizer and sets down nicely over just a few hydrators

    Sadly this felt incredibly occlusive on my skin and caused breakouts. The feel on my skin was incredibly heavy and matte, wearing a mask on top of this, the fabric of the mask felt velcroed to the texture of my skin. Very disappointed in this formulation.

    •  3 года назад +1

    What are they trying to say with plat-based probiotic? I have a PhD on Microbiology and do research on human skin/nasal microbiome. Probiotics are live bacteria, so how can they be plant-based?

    • @lovekinship
      @lovekinship 3 года назад +1

      Hi there! Self Reflect Sunscreen contains our proprietary microbiome technology - a plant-based pre-probiotic - derived from the fermentation of lactobacillus to support a strong natural skin barrier. It is technically a "prebiotic" versus a "probiotic." We mention that it’s plant-based because that’s what the probiotic feeds off of. Our microbiome technology uses a plant-based feedstock that lactobacillus can thrive on.

    • @isabelfe
      @isabelfe 3 года назад

      @@lovekinship I agree it is not a probiotic if is not alive. However, prebiotics are usually understood as the nutrients that feed the probiotics. And when you talk about the products generated by live bacteria, those can be called postbiotics (www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0924224417302765)
