A couple tips came to mind after I went to bed. I should mention I've been selling on ebay for like twenty years. Have a second printer, if a shipping label jams up then just switch printers and print it again. You can clear the jam later. Keep the funds in a separate bank account (credit unions have lower fees) from your household finances. When you have enough to cover expenses then you can "pay" yourself by transferring the money. And you will need to keep reinvesting in the business, like a computer instead of a phone and a good camera, and lights and.... One last tip that no one else will tell you. Eventually we will all get old enough to want to retire. Everyone should have a Roth IRA and be putting in the maximum every year. With a Roth the money goes in after taxes and there is no tax when you take the money out, after age 59.5. If you start early they can really grow. Lots of videos about them. don't rely on Social Security as the sole income for your older years. There is probably a financial person at the credit union who can set you up. If I was only going to give one tip, the Roth IRA would be it.

One of my favorite ways to increase feedback on ebay that I didnt hear mentioned - when it's time for me to make room for new items, before I start donating back to the thrift store I put everything on a 7 day auction starting at $.99 with shipping and sell some of it off that way. If you were going to get rid of it anyway, why not just take the chance of selling it for cheap and then use the strategies everyone else mentioned to solicit feedback on those items too. I hope thats helpful...Thanks for sharing all of the fantastic tips everyone! This was a great video!

When I switched from a casual seller to a business, one tip I wish someone told me was to not feel obligated to buy an item at every store/yard sale etc that you go to just to get inventory. In the beginning of my business I would search and search and search for something to buy at a sale or store because I felt if I didn't, I wasted my time. So I'd buy something that had very little profit in it just to fell like I didn't waste my time and had something to list. In the end it was a waste of time AND money just to keep digging and digging to find something. It's okay to spend a hour in a thrift store and not find anything an walk out and move on. So in short, don't buy items just to have inventory. And don't buy items just because you're there.

If I had a tip it would be this, "Don't be afraid to think big." Far too often we put limits on ourselves based on what we think is possible. When, in reality, we are capable of so much more than what we first believe. If you look at the resellers that are doing the most, it's almost always because they believed that they could. Super video. Just a super video.

I recently invested in some clear poly envelopes to package clothing in at shipping time. Buyers have been blown away from receiving their item nicely professionally packaged as opposed to just being shoved into a ho hum ordinary poly mailer or flat rate envelope. Sometimes its the little things that are truly appreciated.

My tip: Take pride in what you do. It will pay off with repeat customers & positive feedback. The things my customers comment on the most are: Fast Shipping, Personal note included, and special or careful packaging. I use festive wrapping paper especially around the holidays. It's a big hit. Thanks to everyone for the awesome tips.

The tip that spoke to me was about the global shipping. I only sell domestic because I didn't want to figure out shipping to other countries. Now that I know Ebay handles it, I am excited to start offering sales globally

My tip: as early as you can, get your workspace flow setup. Your listing space, scale & printer, and your packing space. If any part of selling is a hassle or cumbersome, you won’t enjoy it and you’ll be wasting time on top of it.

I do volunteer animal rescue and I have a van that I use just for rescue. This tip I found by accident. I went to an estate sale as I was on my way to the vet to pick up some kittens. I got to talking to the person (Family member of the deceased) and they said they would love to be able to just get rid of almost all of the items in the house as none of the non-profits he contacted were interested. I told him I would take everything in the house. I came back and emptied out the house in three trips.

I have to disagree with the first one for some occassions. I was served at a thrift store that I love with a variety of plush toys (that I primarily sell), the cashier was very generous with the pricing and nothing I bought was over $1 (it was one of those stores that don't have fixed prices). I told him that I was a reseller of plush toys when he asked what I was going to do with them. He mocked me when he thought I left the store.

I live in Hawaii so whenever I get a repeat customer or a cool one, I send them a postcard from Maui. Welcoming them and inviting them to follow my store. Ive received sooo much GREAT feedback just for doing this. Only costs me $.40 a card. Another thing is to just BE NICE!

If you are ending a listing and then Sell Similar, make sure that you alter the title and a description. eBay will treat it as an new item. Some how they can tell if the item is actual new or just a relist.

My biggest tip is don’t compare your sales/numbers to others!! There are sooo many factors involved and it’s easy to get down on yourself for not meeting others totals!

Oh. My. Word. I’m new. I’ve watched a million videos as I explore this “part time lucrative hobby” that makes me happy! THIS IS THE BEST ONE YET. I put two of the tips to the test yesterday, 1) ended listing / relisted… sold for $6 more than I originally listed! 2) told a friend what I’m doing… I get to go to a private sale of a fairly wealthy family whose estate is being liquidated tomorrow.. no estate sale fees! Thank you… thank you… your videos are my motivation to keep plugging along. And, thank you to all your contributors. Many I already follow and some I’ll add to my list! Blessings to you fellow educator!

I agree! The hardest thing for me at first was to walk out of a thrift store with nothing.

MY TIP FOR EVERYONE -- steam your clothing before shipping with a good steamer -pack with a tissue - use the leftover label paper (if you dont use a dymo) for a thank you note... no matter what the cost of the item!!!! you should get good feedback ))) the steamer gets any smells out and the horrible wrinkles
