Another good review. In addition to my comments posted to another of your reviews, I'll add that I also appreciate the fact that you don't waste the viewers' time. A lot of other reviewers tend to ramble on at the beginning of the video for several minutes before getting to the point, or keep repeat the same thing over and over. The two of yours that i've viewed so far are to the point and stay on topic. Thanks!
Great video and very thorough test. Your video cleared up my confusion between the plus and the pro. Will be coming back to your channel when I need to see some good testing and reviews. Thanks hackster!
As always, thanks for the video. Also, watching this, I have to thank you again for your video of the missing lens cover on your old floodlight. Before that, I noticed a fuzziness on my videos and sure enough, my lens cover was missing and like you, I contacted Ring after I watched your video and like you, Ring sent me a replacement floodlight free of charge. So, like your replacement floodlight, it really is not that old and still works great. On the new floodlight Pro, I don't think I will buy. With the plastic base, it does look cheaper, so at this time I will pass on buying the floodlight Pro. Thanks again. Good information as always. Don from Milwaukee
the 3D detection is especially useful if you have the camera facing the street. with the old camera, cars can trigger false alarms even if the motion zones are away from the street. i used to set my camera to "people only" for this exact reason but that way i couldn't see cars actually coming onto my driveway. and sometimes the people recognition fails (happens more often at night) then i don't get any notification at all. one time i accidentally let my dog out in the frontyard and she was chilling there for a good 20 minutes without me know cuz she is technically not a "person" so it was just recorded as motion, no notification. Radar is distance based and far more superior. when the zone is set at before the street, nothing outside the zone can trigger motion. the ring's marketing team somehow emphasizes the feature is to make us see the path of our visitors, making it sound less useful than it really is.
I'm surprised you're not getting more love for saying Alex-A. And then also cutting out the name when you were presenting the feature so it didn't set everyone's Amazon devices off. That's very courteous of you.
Totally agree with your end comments. The audio and alarm are impressive. Probably the loudest alarm you have ever measured, but if you already have a ring spotlight there really wouldn't be a big benefit to upgrade to this one. Keep up the good work!
I just bought the ring floodlight cam to basically test it to see if I thought it was worth investing more into it. I really thank u for ur honest testing and opinion… so I went with the original flood light cam and saved the $50. So far so good. I’m definitely going to buy a few more flood lights and some interior cameras. I think I’m just going to switch my whole set up to ring now. Just way too easy and for $100 a year u can’t beat it compared to commercial security products out there. Again thank u
I don't know about the Ring Floodlight yet; but I am loving my new Ring Pro 2 doorbell!!! The quality of the image and audio surpasses the old one. I have the motion detection on high and I can pick up my neighbor opening up his garage door, which is a good 50+ feet away. My neighbor doesn't mind it, as I picked up someone breaking into his truck one evening; even after that incident, he doesn't have any cameras to keep an eye on his vehicles.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am still not sure if I am going this route or simply subscribe to a service for my security needs. I look forward to looking at more of your videos. thanks again.
Waited for the new Ring floodlight as I was planning to go with the Ring ecosystem but I decided to buy 3 Wyze V3 cameras instead. I am really satisfied and amazed specially with the night quality. Since it records 24/7, it beats Ring's cameras 100% in my opinion. I love my Ring pro doorbell since the motion alerts are always accurate but the subscription is the downside since other competitors are already ahead of the game with regards to audio & video quality. Waiting for Eufy's 2k floodlight and it is coming out soon! Hopefully, you can make a review of that one. More power to your channel!
Thanks again for the video. What I've noticed is that ring cameras notification speed is really fast in comparison to others, that is a very important thing in camera's
Why I spent the extra money for the Pro light, the unit has dual band connectivity so it can transmit on 5G band as well as 2.4G band width on the wifi so I have better assurity the audio and video will be clear and well defined. One thing I can't stand is fuzzy images when catching bad guys. Thanks for your video.
Your videos are fantastic! I was looking to buy the wired floodlight cam a few months ago when I bought my Ring security system. I heard a rumor they were releasing a Pro model, so I waited and pre-ordered as soon as they came out. I never would've even thought of installing switch guards! Buying some now :)
I love my ring floodlight cam out of all my ring products (2 floodlights, 2 video doorbell 2s, 1 original video doorbell with solar doorbell mount charger, solar security sign, ring alarm security system, 3 discontinued original ring square black stick up cams that still work, multiple chimes, chime pro and 3 solar spotlight cams). I love Wyze tho for the free continuous recording via micro sd card local storage and have the v2s, v2 black, pan & new v3s along with sense sensors & smart plugs. I saw Wasserstein made a floodlight mount fixture for the Wyze v2 & v3. I would love to see you review the v3 with the v3 Wasserstein floodlight mount to power Wyze v3 camera using existing light fixture. Love your reviews & channel. I always check them out before purchasing anything.
Thank you so much for this video. I have the original Ring Floodlight Cam. The lights started malfunctioning. My warranty had lapsed. I was getting ready to purchase another, but they announced this model. My discount code wouldn't work with the pre-order. I can order now, and I know what to expect from the new model, thanks to your video. -jn
Thanks for reviewing this. Ring has always been mostly reliable with motion detection, snooze motion, etc. However the video quality is still quite poor and not worth the upgrade.
Thank you - nice review! But I don't think you mentioned the most significant difference (for me, anyway) - dual-band wifi. I have had a lot of problems with 2.4 devices not connecting.
I like the look of the lights better on the pro. A tip for veterans and Ring Protect subscribers: I was able to stack the 10% Protect and 20% Military discounts, even on the multipack. So, I got the 2-pack Pro ($459 normally) for about $330 plus tax. With one at $259 I'm really happy at the savings. Thanks for a great review and I've bought mine for a new home being built. I figure I'll do one over garage, one over sideyard, and then traditional security light (motion) in backyard, with 2 Spot Light cameras. I already have 4 spot light cams, Ring doorbell (2) and stick up cam inside. Ring alarm and Alexa to round it out.
The image quality is definitely sharper but I don’t like the new installation mounts and the new spotlight design. The frosted cover seems to reduce the overall brightness compared to my original ring floodlight.
The only reason I would consider upgrading to the pro is, that I'm interested in Amazon's Sidewalk 900 MHz bridge feature. Other than that, my 7 floodlight cams have been working flawlessly for the past few years.
I got a good deal of floodlights 2021 with echo show5 second generation for only $150 it’s not a pro but it works really good too . altogether I had 8 cameras around my house and inside plus rings alarm too I love using rings products 👍
The image and sound quality is substantially way way better just look at the beginning of the video you could tell the difference by a mile even the refresh rate is alot alot more smoother as well

What are the pros/cons of Flood light pro vs. just using a regular floodlight with motion detection (already installed) and a separate ring camera with out a light?
I have the original Ring Floodlight and Arlo 4K spotlights. Honestly, I was excited about the new Ring Floodlight, but it is an utter disappointment. It has the same resolution as the original Ring Floodlight with 10% better audio reception. Arlo blows it out of water with much, much better Imaging and audio feedback. It is ASMR worthy. I know this Ring is 1080p (same as the prior model) which for a 2021 is honestly utter failing of Ring. The Arlo app is not as intuitive as Ring with rich notifications (takes while to load) otherwise I would have jumped ship a while ago.

Love the video and all of your reviews. Question, long range wifi routers, what do you recommend? I got cameras having issues connecting with my 2.4 and I have a nighthawk. Don't know where to start. What are you using?
I think they have plans for the 3D motion in the future...we will see but as to motion detection as per their advertising, there is really no benefit compared to their other wired cameras.
does this work with ring solar panels. Also could these be mounted on the ceiling instead of the wall while still being able to use the camera and light properly
How do I connect to a Wi-Fi if it's up on the side of a three-story condo building? We live in a big complex Do I need to tap into somebody's Wi-Fi that's closest to it?
Is there still a battery. Like what if you have several flood lights and you want them off but the security of the ring. Or when your switch is off is the system also dead?
The backyard distance test is key for your reviews, imo. I'm glad you keep this standard of yours 👌
Thanks.
Agreed. I come specifically for that testing :D
Is any video quality lost by uploading to RUclips? How far out would you say you can view a license plate?
As someone who only recently purchased the older model im glad this new one isnt much of an upgrade since it makes me feel better i didnt wait

@@LifeHackster thank you! Did you review that before? I'll definitely take a look. Appreciate it.
but if your buying one of these now probably better to get the newest one?
True...it really depends on your budget.
@@LifeHackster this is true also
Why 1080?... Why not 1440 at a minimum, if not 4K?
3D motion is a gimmick at best.
I'll hold on to my 1st Gen floodlight.
I think they have plans for the 3D motion in the future...we will see but as to motion detection as per their advertising, there is really no benefit compared to their other wired cameras.
Maybe a dumb question but can the bulbs in the Ring Pro be easily found at the local hardware store since they are oval?
No, they are not replaceable but normally they are rated to outlast the camera itself.
@@LifeHackster What about the bulbs in the older Ring cam that's not oval? Are they replaceable?
does this work with ring solar panels. Also could these be mounted on the ceiling instead of the wall while still being able to use the camera and light properly
How do I connect to a Wi-Fi if it's up on the side of a three-story condo building?
We live in a big complex
Do I need to tap into somebody's Wi-Fi that's closest to it?
Is there still a battery. Like what if you have several flood lights and you want them off but the security of the ring. Or when your switch is off is the system also dead?
My current floodlights are underneath the roof overhang , will the camera angle work correctly?
What is the best wireless flood light camera and wireless doorbell camera? I'm having a hard time deciding which one to get.
