The backyard distance test is key for your reviews, imo. I'm glad you keep this standard of yours 👌
Thanks.
Agreed. I come specifically for that testing :D
Is any video quality lost by uploading to RUclips? How far out would you say you can view a license plate?
Your reviews are always the best! I watched your original review of the original flood light cam, now this. Always great information!
Another good review. In addition to my comments posted to another of your reviews, I'll add that I also appreciate the fact that you don't waste the viewers' time. A lot of other reviewers tend to ramble on at the beginning of the video for several minutes before getting to the point, or keep repeat the same thing over and over. The two of yours that i've viewed so far are to the point and stay on topic. Thanks!
Great video and very thorough test. Your video cleared up my confusion between the plus and the pro. Will be coming back to your channel when I need to see some good testing and reviews. Thanks hackster!
The in depth backyard activities your performed is what made me sub, amazing work
As someone who only recently purchased the older model im glad this new one isnt much of an upgrade since it makes me feel better i didnt wait
YOU MAKE SOME OF THE ABSOLUTE BEST VIDEOS ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET. GOD BLESS!!!
Bro, I think this was the best review of any product ever! Thank you so much, this was amazing.
Your videos are fantastic! I was looking to buy the wired floodlight cam a few months ago when I bought my Ring security system. I heard a rumor they were releasing a Pro model, so I waited and pre-ordered as soon as they came out. I never would've even thought of installing switch guards! Buying some now :)
Totally agree with your end comments. The audio and alarm are impressive. Probably the loudest alarm you have ever measured, but if you already have a ring spotlight there really wouldn't be a big benefit to upgrade to this one. Keep up the good work!
The audio from the camera is pretty good. I can hear it from the inside of the house when I tested it which doesn't happen with other cameras.
Ring dropped the ball on this release, I’ve been waiting years for this and it’s subpar. I’ll keep on waiting
Yep lol
Great thorough video. I was on the fence about 3D motion detection and you answered my questions. Thank You😎
Glad I could help!
I'm surprised you're not getting more love for saying Alex-A. And then also cutting out the name when you were presenting the feature so it didn't set everyone's Amazon devices off. That's very courteous of you.
As always, thanks for the video. Also, watching this, I have to thank you again for your video of the missing lens cover on your old floodlight. Before that, I noticed a fuzziness on my videos and sure enough, my lens cover was missing and like you, I contacted Ring after I watched your video and like you, Ring sent me a replacement floodlight free of charge. So, like your replacement floodlight, it really is not that old and still works great. On the new floodlight Pro, I don't think I will buy. With the plastic base, it does look cheaper, so at this time I will pass on buying the floodlight Pro.
Thanks again. Good information as always.
Don from Milwaukee
Thank you Don..
Always great info, I come here evey time I need info on a new product.
Love this video. Will be installing the RING Flood light camera for a client tomorrow morning. Must refer to it. Thanks.
Thanks for the video! The quality looks a little better, but not enough to make me want to upgrade from the original floodlight.
Thanks.
LH you did another amazing job commentating this product the Ring Pro outdoors surveillance cameras.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am still not sure if I am going this route or simply subscribe to a service for my security needs. I look forward to looking at more of your videos. thanks again.
Great video as always. I think I'll stay with my Original floodlight cam for now. Maybe 4k which I doubt they will do. Thank you for the video. 👍💯
Been waiting for this review since the new version came out and I was about to get it
Keep up the content man been here since 20k
Great review thanks for a clear step by step install.
Thanks for your excellent reviews. Just bought 2x plus and not the Pros so that saved enough to pay for 2 years subscriptions to Ring. Big Thx
Thank you for fast review
I just bought the ring floodlight cam to basically test it to see if I thought it was worth investing more into it. I really thank u for ur honest testing and opinion… so I went with the original flood light cam and saved the $50. So far so good. I’m definitely going to buy a few more flood lights and some interior cameras. I think I’m just going to switch my whole set up to ring now. Just way too easy and for $100 a year u can’t beat it compared to commercial security products out there. Again thank u
Thank you. Great video.
I like these reviews, it continually reminds me why I stay on with nest which still hasnt released a flood light. LoL.
I like the look of the lights better on the pro. A tip for veterans and Ring Protect subscribers: I was able to stack the 10% Protect and 20% Military discounts, even on the multipack. So, I got the 2-pack Pro ($459 normally) for about $330 plus tax. With one at $259 I'm really happy at the savings. Thanks for a great review and I've bought mine for a new home being built. I figure I'll do one over garage, one over sideyard, and then traditional security light (motion) in backyard, with 2 Spot Light cameras. I already have 4 spot light cams, Ring doorbell (2) and stick up cam inside. Ring alarm and Alexa to round it out.
Thankyou for your helpful video!
the 3D detection is especially useful if you have the camera facing the street. with the old camera, cars can trigger false alarms even if the motion zones are away from the street. i used to set my camera to "people only" for this exact reason but that way i couldn't see cars actually coming onto my driveway. and sometimes the people recognition fails (happens more often at night) then i don't get any notification at all. one time i accidentally let my dog out in the frontyard and she was chilling there for a good 20 minutes without me know cuz she is technically not a "person" so it was just recorded as motion, no notification.
Radar is distance based and far more superior. when the zone is set at before the street, nothing outside the zone can trigger motion. the ring's marketing team somehow emphasizes the feature is to make us see the path of our visitors, making it sound less useful than it really is.
I love my ring floodlight cam out of all my ring products (2 floodlights, 2 video doorbell 2s, 1 original video doorbell with solar doorbell mount charger, solar security sign, ring alarm security system, 3 discontinued original ring square black stick up cams that still work, multiple chimes, chime pro and 3 solar spotlight cams). I love Wyze tho for the free continuous recording via micro sd card local storage and have the v2s, v2 black, pan & new v3s along with sense sensors & smart plugs. I saw Wasserstein made a floodlight mount fixture for the Wyze v2 & v3. I would love to see you review the v3 with the v3 Wasserstein floodlight mount to power Wyze v3 camera using existing light fixture. Love your reviews & channel. I always check them out before purchasing anything.
Thanks for the content. Does the ceiling mount have the same field of view as a wall mount? I know sometimes they tend to point down.
Bruh just from the beginning I was already convinced the difference in quality visually and audibly is noticeable.
I don't know about the Ring Floodlight yet; but I am loving my new Ring Pro 2 doorbell!!! The quality of the image and audio surpasses the old one. I have the motion detection on high and I can pick up my neighbor opening up his garage door, which is a good 50+ feet away. My neighbor doesn't mind it, as I picked up someone breaking into his truck one evening; even after that incident, he doesn't have any cameras to keep an eye on his vehicles.
Thanks for reviewing this
Another great video.
excellent video bro, thanks 👌
thank you for sharing good information
I like the new upgrade of the Ring floodlight cam pro.
Thank you so much for this video. I have the original Ring Floodlight Cam. The lights started malfunctioning. My warranty had lapsed. I was getting ready to purchase another, but they announced this model. My discount code wouldn't work with the pre-order. I can order now, and I know what to expect from the new model, thanks to your video. -jn
Thanks for the video. I want to see your review comparing Pro to the original flood light cam.
Thanks for the video! Do you think this camera works well with a ceiling or eave mount?
I’m so excited
Getting my installed next Friday
Cool..
Just purchased this, pretty disappointing the lights are yellow but overall a great camera! Great review thank you! 💪
Thank you - nice review! But I don't think you mentioned the most significant difference (for me, anyway) - dual-band wifi. I have had a lot of problems with 2.4 devices not connecting.
My original floodlight cam went out after 4 years. Need to replace and going with this version. Can't wait for the 4k version.
What are the pros/cons of Flood light pro vs. just using a regular floodlight with motion detection (already installed) and a separate ring camera with out a light?
Waited for the new Ring floodlight as I was planning to go with the Ring ecosystem but I decided to buy 3 Wyze V3 cameras instead. I am really satisfied and amazed specially with the night quality. Since it records 24/7, it beats Ring's cameras 100% in my opinion.
I love my Ring pro doorbell since the motion alerts are always accurate but the subscription is the downside since other competitors are already ahead of the game with regards to audio & video quality.
Waiting for Eufy's 2k floodlight and it is coming out soon! Hopefully, you can make a review of that one. More power to your channel!
Eufy’s 2K floodlight camera has been out for over 3 weeks now. I bought and installed 2. Love it.
I'll be reviewing it soon.. I just wished they release a black version first.
@@LifeHackster yeah, a black version would be awesome!
@@Lexethan2011 will have to check in canada
Thanks again for the video. What I've noticed is that ring cameras notification speed is really fast in comparison to others, that is a very important thing in camera's
Great review...wondering if you can set the floodlights to come on and stay on from dusk to dawn? Or will they only come in with motion? Thanks!
That 3000k color temperature is a game changer. All of my exterior lighting is warm color temp except my eufy spotlight which is ~5000
Ring should have just used bicolor LEDs on it and let the user decide...
Excellent video! Thanks. I want to use it for security a lighting on my back porch. Is there a way to turn on the lights at say 30% using Goole Home or Alexa for when we are sitting outside? I don’t want to blind my guests 😁
Thanks for another great video. I received an email from Ring about this and was thinking about purchasing it. I have the original Floodlight Cam and I’m on the fence about it. I might switch in the near future. I think you had a possum walk by your front yard on the video you had in the beginning. I also live in Texas so we see all types of animals. Thanks again and I look forward to more videos in the future. They are really helpful!
Thank you..and yes, we have a family of possums under the shed in the backyard..I'm thinking of trapping them.
@@LifeHackster Wow!!! Do the fall Possums make a mess?? Question, have the ring door bell and Best Buy regular cameras, I’ve been thinking about the Flood lights fro the front and back, 3 in total. Do you think I should get the newer one? People in your comments don’t seem too enthusiastic about the new one, thx, 👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
Think I’ll keep my original floodlight by ring for now . It does the job well enough
I got a good deal of floodlights 2021 with echo show5 second generation for only $150 it’s not a pro but it works really good too . altogether I had 8 cameras around my house and inside plus rings alarm too I love using rings products 👍
Is it worth the upgrade? And are the lights brighter on this model? Great review!🙏❤️🙌
I thank you for this. Also, is there a link for the solar lights you have?
Why I spent the extra money for the Pro light, the unit has dual band connectivity so it can transmit on 5G band as well as 2.4G band width on the wifi so I have better assurity the audio and video will be clear and well defined. One thing I can't stand is fuzzy images when catching bad guys. Thanks for your video.
Can you adjust the brightness or power of the lights?
I’m getting it for the alarm. I have thieves checking car doors in my area, hopefully this will keep them out of my yard.
Is IT possible to turn the camera to the sides left and right? How much is the radius?
Great review, does anyone know if steam from a boiler flue will trigger the camera?
My issue with my original is it connects badly. It’s right near the router and fails to connect all the time.
My other ring came and bell connect fast and sharp and are further.
So if they improved the antenna maybe I’d get this.
Or my floods are defective
Love the video and all of your reviews. Question, long range wifi routers, what do you recommend? I got cameras having issues connecting with my 2.4 and I have a nighthawk. Don't know where to start. What are you using?
I have the eero mesh system.. no issues and I can just add a beacon if I have signal issues.
@@LifeHackster thank you! Did you review that before? I'll definitely take a look. Appreciate it.
Thanks for the review. I need to now decide if I keep my order or cancel it. I like my Ring Floodlight Camera...I have two and have another spot I could install a third. Just not sure how much I am gaining with this new one? Improved audio and somewhat clearer video? Does it connect over 5ghz band or still use 2.4ghz?
It can connect to a 5GHz.
What is the best wireless flood light camera and wireless doorbell camera? I'm having a hard time deciding which one to get.
Thanks for the great review. Question - can you test its maximum distance detection at night? I have the floodlight version (original?) before this pro, and it seems weaker on detecting distant motion at night. Thanks!
I have used the original floodlight cam and can attest that I have video of cars being detected 100 to 150 yards away down the street in either direction. I see everything that happens in my subdivision from when a vehicle enters off the main road until the vehicle turns into a driveway hundreds of yards away.
does this work with ring solar panels. Also could these be mounted on the ceiling instead of the wall while still being able to use the camera and light properly
I'm curious why they keep sticking with the yellow lights, it doesnt help during night time at all. Wish they were daylight LEDs.
Warmer color temps are better for preserving your eye's night vision. Also, many people find the warmer lights more aesthetically pleasing (less industrial looking).
First of all thank you so much for your detailed video.
I do have a quick question / issue on Homebase2 connection to my router.
I do have tp-link Deco X20 mesh system, when I try to connect my homebase2 with the internet , it has blue blinking light only and then I could see error message "Network Exception, please try again later."
With an error screen titled "Unable to add HoemBase2".
Could you please help me out? I tried everything reset, unplug power cable, router restart, reset button on homebase2 but it just keep blinking blue led. Help would be highly appreciated 🙏🏼
Ima get that ring floodlight pro black
The only reason I would consider upgrading to the pro is, that I'm interested in Amazon's Sidewalk 900 MHz bridge feature. Other than that, my 7 floodlight cams have been working flawlessly for the past few years.
Thanks for reviewing this. Ring has always been mostly reliable with motion detection, snooze motion, etc. However the video quality is still quite poor and not worth the upgrade.
thank you.
First a question, did I not see you combine a ring camera (floodlight design) with a better functioning, non-camera floodlight to improve the available light and performance of the new, "Frankenstein" flood-cam? How did that work out and is it still a viable option (I spent 30+ yrs as a repair tech, I'm up for challenges) for someone trying to get performance from a modest budget or is the new floodlight camera "all that and a bag of all natural, free-range kettle chips?"
Thanks for the anticipated response. 😉
As for the new floodlight cameras...
Going to a plastic body and mount has two separate schools of thought. Yes, "it's cheaper." It's cheaper to build and keeps the production costs, down which means the retail price is lower than if they're made of metal. If you think they're more expensive now, just use steel.
School two, plastic won't corrode or rust which can affect the wiring, draw corrosion into the box, etc. while being used outdoors.
The judgements are held for what type of plastics are being used and if they'll fade, "dry-rot," crack or break under moderate impact. If quality plastics (mixed w/fiberglass, resins, etc.) are used, I'm OK with it.
Companies are faced with a balance of product improvement and innovation and cost management so the new, improved (NOT new "and" improved, it can't be both, simultaneously!) products aren't priced right out of the market. If you have a target price range and improvement of functionality is costly, counters have to be made, like moving to a plastic body instead of metal. Although the metal is "better," the expense of the metal could be better used in upgrading interior components *as long as the new housing design doesn't compromise the overall integrity of the product.*
Does the first generation flood light pro have adjustable lights as well?
Hi, I have a swann camera at the moment and I'm over it. Im thinking of replacing them with these ring cameras but I don't want to pay for a subscription as swann does not have this. Is the subscription mandatory and if it's not can you please advise what you dont get.
Thanks
What are the total lumens between both floodlights for the ring floodlight cam wired pro?
Still staying at 1080P? Not worth for upgrade! Will wait for the 4k version
It’ll be 2025 by then, and that’s if we’re lucky.
No
Is there still a battery. Like what if you have several flood lights and you want them off but the security of the ring. Or when your switch is off is the system also dead?
The image quality is definitely sharper but I don’t like the new installation mounts and the new spotlight design. The frosted cover seems to reduce the overall brightness compared to my original ring floodlight.
I'm not really sure it is 2000 lumens.. it is dimmer.
Thanks very helpful. My ring pro is startimg to have issues as a abt 6 mths ago. The bell doesn't always ring, but I get the notifications.
Reboot the device. Same thing happened to my ring doorbell pro 2 and this resolved it.
So in ring cameras you can’t set detection zones (outline the area you want it to react to while excluding other areas of the field of view), only rough detection zone distance ?
On the floodlight pro do you guys get gaps in your timeline? Like sometimes it doesn’t detect motion for atleast 3 hours and then it does all of a sudden? Motion frequency is on high and there is no motion schedule.
Hey chief Where did you purchase your shed at? I need to get one
The audio and quality is better
My current floodlights are underneath the roof overhang , will the camera angle work correctly?
Can you do a review of the Reolink RLC-510WA wifi camera?
Are the cameras directional adjustable? Or do they only adjust up and down?
Can go side to side ~ 20-30 degrees.
The wide FOV is nice, but I've always found it takes too long for live feed and notifications
that is all wifi, equipment and cell depending.
@@proedgebiker I have 110 mbps WiFi which is 4 metres from the ring doorbell. My phone has 60 mbps minimum 4g network. However if I need to speak to someone via the ring, it firstly takes 2-3 secs to notify me. Then 9/10 I can't even talk to the person because the mic or whatever doesn't seem to work. There is definitely an issue that others have as well concerning this.
@@UnseenSpirit are you using a mesh wifi system?
Use Rapid Ring App.
How many bridges needed for multiple devices on entire property?
No bridge needed.. Ring cameras connect directly to WIFI
The image quality is better but other than that, it is mostly the same. Probably not worth the upgrade from the 1st generation.
The image and sound quality is substantially way way better just look at the beginning of the video you could tell the difference by a mile even the refresh rate is alot alot more smoother as well
@@JUrena0123 agreed we have the first gen flood light and my god the image quality is terrible and audio crackles and has no cancellation what so ever so it picks up everything and u can barely hear peoples voices which sucks!!! but man this new one def has improved on the audio and image quality which is probably the only reason why people should upgrade other than that it doesnt offer much else...but obviously image and quality upgrades is what we all should be wanting and this cam delivered.
Will this connect to nettgear orbi easily?
The floodlights definitely look dimmer than the original Floodlight cam
Looks like it but I'll check when I do a comparison video.
Whats the hieght you went with from the driveway to the light?
Salamat po kaibigan
How long would you say this camera and light last? Thanks 4-6-24
do ring cameras needs to be in a same network or they just need internet to work?
I can’t really see if it’s dark brown like a bronze or if it’s straight black I’m looking for more of the bronze color like my other two ring door cameras
