- In this video i will show you how to replace a faulty hot water tank / system temperature relief and pressure valve. This will save you a lot of money and can be done easily with basic tools. My system was fairly new however it would drip water constantly outside my house from the relief valve and thats what gave it away as the seal inside was damaged. That's brilliant. I noticed you didn't show using thread seal tape on the new bits, but no big deal. Thanks again.

Thanks bill
Very good tutorial 👌
You’re welcome 👍
@@billshowto love ya vids, question, why my old release valve when pulling back never bubbled, same deal with new one just installed 20 m ago, but this time round steam coming out from both vents sides of outside boiler, haven't seen that in a while, yet confused why it's like a limp dick no tension on new valve. thanx
Thanks heaps for the wicked walk through... so are these relief valves generic? ... like how do you know what type to buy?
Thanks Bill. What is the black nut like object on the valve, mine is very loose
Thanks Bill! 👍
Can you please do a video on how to remove pal tv mechanism on the wall plate?
Well done bill saved a motza
Thanks
👍
Hi Bill. Great video! What is the black plastic cylinder on the top of the valve? I had water coming out of there.
I had a problem with my geyser temp/pressure relief valve today, and I checked out TouTube for some answers why it's leaking, but no luck. I went and buy a new TPV and install it and still, it 's was leaking. I took the old and the new one to our plumbmarket, they said my thermostat is not closing to switch the element on, I could not believe that, but I bought a new thermostat install it and the problem was solved. I'm still confused, what has the thermostat to do with the TPV even when the water was cold, it's not that the water was too hot to build-up pressure.
Shot bro 👍 now I've got some plumbing experience haha I've liked and subscribe your RUclips
Lol 👍
Hi dear my hot water system hot water low temperature and I changed temperature relief valve, so how long I have to wait for hot water?
I have a pressure valve like this and I just released the pressure for the first time in 20 months and water comes out of the top of valve as well as outside. But only when pulling the valve. Is it normal for water to come out of the top as well? As i didn't see it happen when you did it.
Hey Bill. Thanks for the demo on the replacement. Went into bunnings and I see a few different types 850Kpa, 1000 Kpa and 1400 Kpa. How do i determine which one to get? They are all the same price.
It says on the tank
Hey mate I installed my new hot water system that valve was leaking and flushed it 6 times it stop and now that is hot it leaks over night a bit do you have to have the stem on it or not ? Because no matter what I need it to fix it
Do you keep the burner going when you do this or shut the whole thing down?
Is that combined pressure and temperature relief valve?
Can you make a video on how to change the tempering valve and duo valve thanks
what about the flame did you switch it off
How does a Plumber justify $300 for 1 hours work?
Also you must get the correct Kpa rated PTR valve, very important.
Every night you should get 1 to 2 litres of water out of a 400L HWS from the PTR valve from thermal expansion, this is 100% normal operation.
A PTR that is leaking constantly may also be too high inlet pressure
Check your pressure reduction valve if this is the case
🚀
It only that was my problem. The water chesterfield is leaking! All the pipes ?dad to the garage, and the vent leads to the garage ceiling, not out through the roof! The heater sprung a leak all over the kitchen floor overnight, and the landlord is going to have to pay for that!
Water heater, not chesterfield, don't know where that came from!
Quality of these valves went to turd very quick in the recent years.Had plumbber came and replaced twice. Sad.
these bloody things are designed to fail, they could use a ceramic stop, but naaa, mate, easier to sting you every few years.
I know , lucky they are easy to do yourself.
Yeah they literally are, so that your fucking unit doesn't blow up 😂
@@ethannskater that made zero sense.
@@John-gm8ty If they're made too well and cease up, that's the only thing preventing your unit from exploding. They have to make them so that if something does go wrong, it's going to break and not build up pressure
@@ethannskater if they are made "too well' then they will not cease up.
I don't even understand how you make such and argument.
" They have to make them so that if something does go wrong, it's going to break and not build up pressure"
that is NOT how they work for goodness sakes! my god, what kind of crazy idea do you have of how they do?
Billshowto, what do i get the pressure tempreture valve in Melbourne????. thanx.
Bunnings. but check the unit to see what pressure rating it has and then buy the correct one. Mine was listed inside the tank after I took the front cover off.
